Thread 13 - the one where I'm dashing for the school run!

1000 replies

Reastie · 22/11/2024 07:25

Apologies for the rubbish title - I'm trying to get the kids ready and don't want my daughter to miss the bus!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

If you have any voucher codes to share (or want to check for any) then have a look https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212144-sharing-voucher-codes

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes here . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Can anyone advise on bath toys for a 6 year old boy please? I've got him bath bombs, he's not interested in crayons, he's got cups that he uses already. Nothing too babyish. Thank you!

Yes I ordered from them last month. Delivery wasn't super fast but no issues. They were the cheapest by far for a specific present I needed. And free delivery.

My mum has asked for a hairdryer....Amazon have some good deals on either Remington or Tresemme ones. They look nice and are in a gift set. Does anybody have either of these brands? I don't want to buy something too cheap!

I would go for Remmington. I bought a Tresemme hairdryer for myself last year and a Remmington one for DD. Hers is better for the same price. It's lighter and more powerful.

I have a Remington copper radiance which is a really nice hairdryer . I have long hair and it dries it fast . Has a decent weight to it , but not so heavy it’s hard to manage. My pet hate is hotel hairdryers which seem to only run at burn your scalp off or a feeble wisp of air , so I did a fair amount of research before I bought this one . It was £29.99 in Boots earlier this year or end of last .

They have some lovely ones on Laithwaites. Not quite £30 (but you could treat someone to a £10 bottle of wine too) but here’s my referral link for £40 off when you spend £80

A few of us on this thread bought this and I know my 6 year old will like it as she likes to play restaurants etc, but I do have a 3 year old in case she doesn't 😂

I put in an Ulster weaver order last Friday but it still hasn’t arrived, anyone else who ordered, have you received yours yet? Maybe I’m being a bit impatient but I find things usually take 2/3 days to come so being a week I’m wondering if something’s up.
Thanks for the new thread reastie 🎄

I have had a dispatch notification today that evri have collected from ordering on 16th!

Carrie76 · 22/11/2024 17:45

Many thanks for the North Face feedback. I think I’ll risk the L, I got it for a great price in Kildare village (ROI) outlet. I’m now wondering if it’s a girls one, it does fit me but is snug.

WimbyAce · 22/11/2024 18:02

The Melissa and Doug reusable sticker book is reduced again to £4.86. I also set up a baby wish list and got an extra 15% off. You have to have this for 2 weeks though before you can get the discount.

psuedocream3 · 22/11/2024 18:05

@CandyRaining I think it's just the time of year where it's really started to get busy so there are delays.

I'm still waiting on my Victoria Beckham Beauty delivery to arrive... I wouldn't have bothered ordering if I knew that they used Evri. Should have been delivered yesterday, driver decided they couldn't be bothered. Should have been delivered between 12 and 2pm today, again they couldn't be bothered. Luckily paid through paypal as I doubt I'll ever see it.
