Thread 13 - the one where I'm dashing for the school run!

1000 replies

Reastie · 22/11/2024 07:25

Apologies for the rubbish title - I'm trying to get the kids ready and don't want my daughter to miss the bus!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

If you have any voucher codes to share (or want to check for any) then have a look https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212144-sharing-voucher-codes

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes here . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

My mum has asked for a hairdryer....Amazon have some good deals on either Remington or Tresemme ones. They look nice and are in a gift set. Does anybody have either of these brands? I don't want to buy something too cheap!

WimbyAce · 22/11/2024 14:03

What are the best sites these days please to get things with a tv/film theme? For example if I was buying something star wars, avengers, goonies related?

hotchocdrinker · 22/11/2024 13:51

@nearlylovemyusername I bought the Deans hamper. All the items look great and it is good value, but just comes in a box. No actually hamper. But you could easily make one up .

Could someone please remind me of the Celtic & Co code 🙈 If it's still running!

Found it!

IfyoushouldmeetaCrocodile · 22/11/2024 14:18

@Carrie76 I wear kids North Face. I find the 'girls' range come up smaller than the boys. My current winter coat is boys XL and it drowns my larger than average 12 year old girl. The arms are long and the shoulders quite roomy if that makes sense.

Notlongnow1 · 22/11/2024 14:35

Has anyone shopped at coolshop.co.uk?

Has the best price for present I need a d seems to have decent reviews but I've never heard of it before!

motheronthedancefloor · 22/11/2024 14:47

has anyone got an adidas code they won’t be using that they wouldn’t mind sharing? I would normally ask my son for his student discount but it’s to buy him some new trainers and I don’t want him to know I’ve bought them

I've just joined their adiclub and will get £10 off for referring a friend. I've posted my referral code on the referral site as you'd get £10 off any order over £50 too. I know some trainers don't qualify for other discounts/vouchers so I'm hoping this will get me £10 off the ones I need to buy! Obviously they are on the list for no discount codes!!

SunnyHappyPeople · 22/11/2024 15:11

Hi,

Does anyone know where I can buy cheaper roblox stuff please? Nothing specific, can be anything. Thanks

OrchestralRemoversInTheDark · 22/11/2024 15:22

Does anyone know anything about M&S Christmas Colins? I went in today to see if they had any Christmas Jumper Colins to check the use by date and there were none on the shelves. I see I can order a Colin Sleigh to click and collect for Christmas Eve but M&S Food website says they are sold out of Jumper Colins already. I'm sure last year I just pootled into town and bought a normal Christmas one off the shelf at some point!

Any idea when they might be in stock or should I just book the Food C&C - and would I be guaranteed one if did it that way?

I’m so sorry. I might be doing something wrong here! Someone kindly gave me the name of the eBay seller for the alternative to turtle doves wrist warmers. When I type it into eBay nothing relevant comes up. Could someone better at these things than me please tell me what I’m doing wrong or give me a nice simple link.
thank you so much.

PersisFord · 22/11/2024 15:28

Highland Titles have 15% off for Black Friday with code TARTANFRIDAY (please note they are not ‘real’ titles but they do come with a tiny bit of land). You can also adopt a Highland cow from them.

ElizabethScarlett has 25% off everything.

I read this as Highland Titties 😆

Anyone seen nice Wicked pjs for a 7 year old that don't cost the earth? She's going into hospital so nice pjs may soften the blow but they're £28 in M&S which I wouldn't pay for pjs for myself!

I’ve seen wicked pjs in Asda, Tesco, primark and M & S so far. I think these ones would be lovely and comfy for 7 year old, esp for
a hospital stay.
