Thread 13 - the one where I'm dashing for the school run!

1000 replies

Reastie · 22/11/2024 07:25

Apologies for the rubbish title - I'm trying to get the kids ready and don't want my daughter to miss the bus!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

If you have any voucher codes to share (or want to check for any) then have a look https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212144-sharing-voucher-codes

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes here . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

The tote bag I wanted for dd on White Fox went out of stock straight away. Oh well. I got her a hoodie.

Thanks for the heads up

LostMyRubySlippers · 25/11/2024 20:04

Had an email from Barnados that they have a blank Friday sale on their online shop- up to 50% off plus free delivery
They have some LED beanies on there for £6

BrieCamera · 25/11/2024 20:05

@thisgirlloveschristmas2024 @MamaClausToTheRescue thanks both - it didn’t like the beer selection I had in basket.

Managed to get the £50 hamper plus 4 bottles of wine for £45 total with a referral code so that’s MIL and FIL sorted!

I’ve stuck my referral link in the referral thread if anyone wants the £40 off Grin

LizMay29 · 25/11/2024 20:08

Could someone please explain what’s going on with the yoto offers? My kids all have yotos but we’ve never done the subscription thing. I’ve got a list of cards I was planning to get them for Christmas. What’s the best way to do it? Do I need a referral code?

Whyisitsodifficult · 25/11/2024 20:12

Has anyone ordered from Solace? I ordered my daughter some earrings last Monday, i have a tracking code but it doesn’t work!

I’ve ordered a few times with no problems whatsoever. I think the tracking should update once Royal Mail or whatever carrier it is scans it onto their system from memory.

Does anyone know if White Fox deliveries
come with it emblazoned on the postal packaging? I’ve relented and ordered a jumper for dd, who hasn’t asked for one specifically but I know her friends have them and she has asked for oversized jumpers so will be delighted at a branded one. After the BarryM stuff I ordered arrived today in a BarryM box that luckily she didn’t see I’m wary of a White Fox mishap as well!

@PissedOffNeighbour22

I highly recommend one of the below bought my daughter these last Christmas she was around the same age and played with them then and still does now all of them have been on sale for around £15-£18 so keep your eye out.

Referral codes seem to work over £59. Let me know if you need one.

Best value is yoto club as you get 1 credit immediately, as well as 10% off everything, additional 10% off for BF, and free postage. That's for the £7.99 pm subscription.

I think!

hby9628 · 25/11/2024 20:46

@TheGriffle the last order I got from white fox was in a branded bag

If the cards you want have the tent symbol for the club you are better doing the annual club upfront and using those credits

Any thoughts on what I could take a 65 year old who will be in hospital at Christmas. Just a token gift. He’s into motorbikes. Doesn’t drink.

I saw a Santa on a motorbike top in Poundland today...

ILookingLikeABeautifulDay · 25/11/2024 20:52

Can we erm…40 somethings wear a white fox hoodie??? 🙈😂 And if so, anyone any idea what size my friend would be - I’m, I mean she’s a 12? 🤔😂

Any recommendations or bargains for cashmere gloves? DM loves her turtle doves but wants some proper ones. Am looking at John Lewis for £35 so around that price or less?

Someone posted a Celtic and co code that gives £25 off which would make their cashmere gloves around £20 Inc delivery

Mince3141 · 25/11/2024 20:55

Had anyone seen any good deals on a decent laptop? We need one for the occasional PowerPoint, email, online shopping, and watching films. And managing a house build in excel 🫣 there are definitely discounts but I have no idea where to even start!

My order came in a bright pink bag with white fox written quite big on it…

Any suggestions for a baby girl who will be around 9mths at Xmas? Price range max £15-20 thanks :)

I wanted the 2 v-tech toys someone posted from Sainsburys last week but they weren't reduced in any stores near me.

My daughter has loved this tea set, picnic basket and purse. Haven’t shopped around so could be cheaper than those links. She’s nearly 5 now and they still get played with at times x

@ILookingLikeABeautifulDay I wear one! It started as a joke when I told my dds I was getting one, but they convinced me to get it. It’s super comfy and good quality, snug and warm. I usually only wear it when going for walks.

A TA at school (in her 40s) and two other mums also wear them.

I’m a size 10, and got S/M. It’s quite big. I think it would depend on your (I mean your friend) 🤣 height, but I think M/L might actually be too big for a size 12.
You could do a search on the threads here, I’m sure someone will have asked before.

fishfingersandchipsagain · 25/11/2024 21:00

I was going to order another Deans hamper … and then I walked into Sainsbury’s. I do think the hamper is really good value, but think I would get a better selection just from the supermarket.

Fueledwithfairydustandgin · 25/11/2024 21:01

Strange request but if you were filling in a calendar for Santa what might some December jobs be. Things like book reindeers hooves to be trimmed but ideally a bit funny.

SweetPeaPods · 25/11/2024 21:03

Does the deans hamper come in a night bag or box to gift?

SweetPeaPods · 25/11/2024 21:04

Nice not night
