Thread 13 - the one where I'm dashing for the school run!

1000 replies

Reastie · 22/11/2024 07:25

Apologies for the rubbish title - I'm trying to get the kids ready and don't want my daughter to miss the bus!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

If you have any voucher codes to share (or want to check for any) then have a look https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212144-sharing-voucher-codes

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes here . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

For anyone who missed out on the Deans shortbread hamper, I've just managed to order one. It is slightly different again, the flavoured shortbreads are a different flavour.

Is there a code for the hamper?

evtheria · 25/11/2024 16:25

Saw these boba drinks in Tesco today, on the shelf where Japanese and Mexican food kits are.
Not tried them as I'm quite fussy about my bubble tea, but could be a cute addition to any kid/teen hampers, esp those who have mini fridges.

Was there a discount at John Lewis (or somewhere else) on Stanley quenchers? I feel like I've seen one but no sign online.

No code for the hamper but you can get a 10% code when you subscribe.

LoopyGremlin · 25/11/2024 16:39

Thanks @Arewesureitisntbedtime!

There was over the weekend but its seems to have finished now.

Crimpit have a few offers on - I just got 2 large wrap makers buy one get one free for £14.99, but when I put the order through there was a pop up to add another item for £4.99 so I got the 2 wrap makers and a toastie maker for £23.97 delivered.

thaegumathteth · 25/11/2024 16:50

Hollister have £10 off a £40 spend if you are a new customer.

MamaOdie · 25/11/2024 17:00

Struggling to keep up so apologies if it’s already been mentioned - but there’s another Deans Black Friday hamper on the website now 😊

IDontKnowWhatYouMean · 25/11/2024 17:00

@thaegumathteth are you a Costco member? I think they are the cheapest at the moment - £159 delivered (or £155.xx instore price).

The Celtic & Co NXMAS24 code isn’t working on their recycled cashmere fingerless gloves for some reason…

PeoniesAreMyFavouriteFlower · 25/11/2024 17:20

@Wholetthedogsoutwhowhowho and @Justkeepsmilingx Yaktrax cabin socks are amazing.

This is the cheapest I can find (£4.81 with free delivery). I’ve not used Fruugo before, so don’t know about that site - but there are other sites that have Yaktrax cabin socks for sale.

I could use it on the geelong ones though 👍🏻

IlovePond · 25/11/2024 17:25

@bigchanges1 - on the cashmere recycled gloves page it says they are excluded from discounts for some reason. Interesting that these gloves are via Turtledoves!

Iluvchristmasbargains · 25/11/2024 17:25

I just got it to work on these, maybe send a link of what you were trying? @bigchanges1

It says on the deans website that anything that is out of stock will be subbed with something of equal or greater value so I’m expecting a couple of substitutions depending on stock levels and when people ordered! I’d prefer one of the new ones, sounds delicious!

IlovePond · 25/11/2024 17:27

Apologies if this has been asked already- has anyone actually received their Deans hamper yet?

I am trying to convince myself that I do NOT need industrial quantities of shortbread with no one to gift any to, but those tins are lovely!

woodwaj · 25/11/2024 17:27

@Elphaba17 I have sent you a PM x

Manyoaks · 25/11/2024 17:30

@tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz I have a code if you still need one

I never noticed that - maybe as they’re from a 3rd party Turtledoves they can’t apply the code. I’ve not ordered from Turtledoves before but I know they are popular on the Christmas threads.

I have a request for you wise MNers. DD8 has asked for a digital watch but she doesn't have a phone so doesn't want any of the smart/connect with your phone stuff. (Though I do think she'd love a pedometer but not essential). Does anyone have a suggestion of a kids brand of watch that will be reliable and not die after a week! Amazon is full of random brands and I've no idea where to start! thank you!!

Thank you, though I ordered these ones & happy to try these as not heard of geelong before….

Just ordered the Deans hamper to be delivered to my parents. Hope they like it! It looks and sounds delicious. I'd never have known about it if it wasn't for this thread, so thanks everyone!
