Thread 13 - the one where I'm dashing for the school run!

Reastie · 22/11/2024 07:25

Apologies for the rubbish title - I'm trying to get the kids ready and don't want my daughter to miss the bus!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

If you have any voucher codes to share (or want to check for any) then have a look https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212144-sharing-voucher-codes

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes here . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

On my Amazon account there's an offer on Morrisons groceries, where if you spend £120 you get £25 off. Don't think it's account specific. Appreciate the initial spend is high but might work for some people wanting to do a bigger grocery shop online this week and stock up on some festive cupboard bits 🤷 Code is 120SAVE25.

MidnightMilkman · 25/11/2024 13:54

On the subject of practical presents - I'm looking for rechargable batteries and a charger, ideally one that does AA and AAA.

A quick look on amazon shows loads, but I have no idea if they're any good. Does anyone have recommendations? Doesn't have to be the cheapest one, but a discount would be great!

Is it a shit present? I hate buying tat, and I love receiving practical gifts.

Thank you to everyone for earlier suggestions on my friend and her 7yo - I've built quite a list.

MidnightMilkman · 25/11/2024 13:56

I just checked my John Lewis app to see if I had any new offers and I see they're doing daily rewards in December

I'm struggling to find these?
I've found some blue heat holder ones on Tu but they look more purple coloured. Men's are too big and ladies are very pale coloured! 🙈

Hi- I’ve just checked and they are not on there any more! Sorry! I have found some very similar irl in Tesco men’s clothing this afternoon? They have plain blue and fairisle grey in my local store.

@N96 there’s a minimum spend for free delivery at Celtic & Co. Postage for cheaper orders is £3.95.

I used the £25 code on the Welsh cotton socks that were originally an eye watering £29 + postage.

I got them for £7.95 with NXMAS24

Bridal Beauty Co are doing their £60 charity boxes with a free Charlotte Tilberry gift. Always very popular.

Hey - do you have a link for these? I keep getting page not found notifications.

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 25/11/2024 14:41

Thanks woodwaj - I've been given a code plus we don't have Sky these days but thanks so much anyway Grin

IlovePond · 25/11/2024 14:54

@VladsPants Celtic & Co have some cashmere gloves:

https://www.celticandco.com/search?q=Cashmere+gloves&ps=16&_q=Cashmere+gloves

However, depending on the size of the recipient’s hands, these men’s cashmere gloves may also suit:

https://www.celticandco.com/mens/accessories/gloves/recycled-cashmere-blend-gloves?colour=82

There’s a £25 off code: NXMAS24 that can be used on all non-sale items.

Delivery charges on cheaper orders are £4.95, (not £3.95 as I said in an earlier post).

If you have anything to buy from Uniqlo, then from 28th Nov you get a free water bottle with orders over £100. The sale prices seem to go on until the 1st Dec, so could be worth holding on a few days if you’re doing a big order.

On another note, can anyone recommend any bargainous hoodies with zip pockets/phone pocket for a 13 year old boy? He doesn’t care about brands, so doesn’t need to be a flashy one, just something a bit secure to prevent a phone being dropped/lost when out at the park!

The link opens for me, if you go onto their website there is a banner at the top or it is under Mystery Boxes in their shop.

Just used BLC on a crocs order with BF discount already applied and it worked if anyone needs crocs.

FriendlyLaundryMonster · 25/11/2024 15:37

voue6a6ac6 gets you £20 off a £100 shop for first orders over £100 at Morrisons.

I just did an order for over £200 at Uniqlo. Not sure I can face returning it to buy in the sale. But, depends on the discounts...

motheronthedancefloor · 25/11/2024 15:50

does anyone know if/when the PLouise advent calendar will come back in stock? Or any of the budget boxes? DD has been dropping hints that she likes PLouise now

Arewesureitisntbedtime · 25/11/2024 16:08

For anyone who missed out on the Deans shortbread hamper, I've just managed to order one. It is slightly different again, the flavoured shortbreads are a different flavour.
