Thread 11 - the one where I’m nostalgic for a cinnamon bum kit

Reastie · 13/11/2024 15:09

Thanks @Beautifulsunflowers for the title. It was close between that and E.L.F on a shelf and some others - too many to choose from!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Are there any more bargainous ways to buy this or something similar?

I haven't seen anything cheaper this year. I bought one from Cox and Cox a few years ago but they are more expensive even with the 25% discount they now have. I looked on eBay to see if they have any secondhand but couldn't find any.

But do buy one! Mine honestly makes my whole month of December. I really love it!

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 16/11/2024 08:48

Don't forget folks to use up any John Lewis beauty reward ... mine was only £10 ( I know some of you lucky ladies had £20) and I think they expire on 31 November. Lots of brands in store currently 20% off so may go a little further. Could be a free Christmas gift sorted?

I got a rituals shower gel although in ju haste I chose the wrong scent and it's a little too floral for me. Still a lovely freebie too and because the till was playing up the nice lady even chucked some samples in my bag

IlovePond · 16/11/2024 08:49

👏@tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz - ELF have one glitchy site so glad you have got it to work! Hope everything arrives this time with proper discount.

Was it the stick blusher you ordered? I was thinking about that, but ordered a tiny moisturiser instead yesterday.

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 16/11/2024 08:52

Hey Pond Grin > waves <

It was the monochromatic blush stick which I've used before. Not as moisturising as others but good for the price point. Think I've gone for peach so I can use it in summer months when I've lost my death pallor a little. Although dangerously I've just started a Trinny London one (from a Liberty GWP I think) and wow. It's Beautiful. Goes on so nicely.

So I need to have some cheaper alternatives Grin

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 16/11/2024 08:52

But yes a glitchy site, up there with Boots and Vans Grin

YorkshireFelix · 16/11/2024 08:53

Did I see someone mention here that Tesco has a discount on clothes at the moment? Does anyone know if it's still running/how long for? I can't get there until after the weekend but there's something I'd like to get for dd.

IlovePond · 16/11/2024 08:57

Hi @tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz 😺I do like a blush…

Thanks for letting me know and good to know about the Trinny blusher, (I saw her irl once, but that’s another story😹). I am wishing I’d gone for the blusher now but I absolutely must not buy any more!

If you have or know anyone with curly hair, the OnlyCurls website has up to 30% off everything. This includes their shampoos etc but more gift-y things too like their silk lined bobble hats (amazing - and I don't even have curly hair!), sleep turbans (have transformed DD's life), scrunchies and all sorts of other things.

Omg thank you for mentioning the hats! I didn't know they did these and I've been searching for ages for a bobble hat that is wide enough to go over my curls without ruining them. These look perfect. One present for me purchased!

It finishes on the 18th.

Thank you everyone for all the bargains & gift ideas!

Those who have ordered from Soccer04, have you had to pay any customs charges? About to place an order but worried I'll get hit with a huge extra cost!

When you order, it will take more from your bank than what's on the screen. I think my order came to £110 but was charging £119 from my bank (assuming it's charging for the exchange rate ) so something to be aware of, because it kept declining from my bank and I couldn't work out why.

I ended up ordering from www.bqlsport.com in the end, it gave 10% off every 3 items ordered and had free delivery. (Did still charge a bit more when the order went through though) you could chose the option to add socks, and they had all the Wales/Cardiff kits.

I've not received the order yet, but will happily report back when they do!

Tigerlilyxx · 16/11/2024 09:09

Caved and got the ELF
Can someone talk me through how to get the multiple rewards please?

IlovePond · 16/11/2024 09:13

@Tigerlilyxx - see my post earlier today for some info. Go into Rewards and enter everything!

YorkshireFelix · 16/11/2024 09:14

@valentinoandme thank you!! So 18th is the last day it's running?

Turtleoo · 16/11/2024 09:15

My John Lewis reward is £10 off womenswear rather than beauty. Has anyone else had this and found any gifty type thing included that you can get almost free? I don't need any clothes right now but seems a shame to waste it! Wish kidswear was included...

The John Lewis reward made my usual Clarins mascara £16 delivered so well reminded TellMeWhen, thank you

So after my Elf debacle and galvanised by so many of you able to use after I'd been told by Elf it's not possible ...

I deleted and reinstalled the app today and all rewards were there including the sunrise one (a lip duo instead so f money off but happy with that) ...

I've ordered a cream blush for -£5, able to apply x 2 birthday gifts of lip gloss and got the extras and free shipping for a fiver.

Think my last issue was my basket value after deductions had to be £5 still so all good now.

I'm so sad but now it's worked I feel like I've socked it to the man Grin ... but don't really even NEED the blusher but I'll use it eventually!

Mee too! I had proper fomo so thank you to everyone. I went for the lip scrub as the reviews says it's a good dupe for laneige at £7. DD is going to be thrilled with all the lip gloss and lip oil! Hope it comes now Wink

Oh good MORNING Christmas people, I am about to begin for the year (don't judge me). I have been lurking on these threads for ages anyway because I love the vibe!

This is a random one, but I am doing up my daughters bedroom for Xmas and I have some curtains and blinds in my blinds2go basket. So far 5%off curtains, 10% off blinds and extra 10% off early black Friday. Do you think i should hold my nerve and wait a bit??

I have blinds and curtains in my basket too, trying to decided whether to order yet or not too 😬 - if you decide let me know!
