Thread 10 - the one with a rubber dick each

Reastie · 09/11/2024 06:18

Thanks @CalliopePlantain for the title. Lord of the Rings rubber dick anyone?! Grin

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Does anyone know if kids bikes are likely to drop down in price on Black Friday? Need a 20 inch for DD and 26 inch for DS

WoollyMammoth1 · 12/11/2024 14:58

@CaptainBenson
We have Lenovo Tab M11 tablets, first for DS to replace his broken iPad, and it's a perfectly fine cheaper option. Specifically looked for an android tablet that is able to run Roblox as many of the cheaper tablets struggle with it, but runs fine on this one. We bought two more since, well impressed actually. We got ours for about £140 earlier this year, looks like prices are slightly higher right now, but likely to drop for Black Friday.

White Fox. Sorry, I know this has been discussed many times, but it to save me trawling through the threads... I know the sizes come up big, so if wanting women’s size 12/14, what size would you recommend (still as loose fit)? Thanks

With white fox I am 5'2 and a size 12 to 14 I ordered a S/M and it fits nicely. Oversized but not huge

I have This cheap tablet. That I'd recommend. Have accounts set up for kids with family link for safety. I got a cheap SIM card from 1p mobile that I put in it, so now I can Mumsnet whilst waiting to pick kids up.

I misread that as DODGEE tablet 😁

Hi all I've found you!

Rydale have a very good sale on started today. Look for the fleece throws £17.99 to £5. Plus the ladies and girls pom pom hats and gloves. HTH

Hi all! Anyone else had this? Paid for stuff on Boots (money came out of my account) but no order confirmation and order not showing in my Boots account. It took £23.95 or so for two items too so seems to have taken some kind of delivery fee…no idea what’s happened there or what to do about it except try to phone them but that’ll be a ball ache too I imagine! 🙈

Myattention · 12/11/2024 16:10

YeahWellWhyNot · 12/11/2024 09:11

Yep I'm now actually done. I need to get off this thread but he fomo is awful. 😭

You won’t be done. You’ll get the fear. At least another 7 or 8 threads to go!

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 12/11/2024 16:10

@ILookingLikeABeautifulDay
sane thing happened to me, this morning. Still no confirmation email. I’m guessing Boots won’t accept the pending transaction and it will be returned In a couple of days.

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 12/11/2024 16:10

Same*

Beingacatbed · 12/11/2024 16:15

Just been to sainsburys and they had all their beetlejuice squishmallows reduced to £3.90! There was still a big box full in the toy aisle of my local one.

This has happened with my last two orders with Boots. First order a couple of weeks ago - no order confirmation and not showing on my account- it did, however, turn up a few days later - I did have to email them to get the points added. Order today - showing on my account but no confirmation - the site seems to be really glitchy at the moment.

psuedocream3 · 12/11/2024 16:29

@Beingacatbed Oh no ours doesn't sell toys, my beetlejuice obsessed son would have loved the sandworm squishmallow 😮

pinkchampagne1 · 12/11/2024 16:42

I had an email to say they are out of stock of the Olaplex free gifts and would offer me 15% off my next order as an apology. 😞 I don’t need to place another order so that isn’t the greatest alternative to the No3 freebie

Summerdew · 12/11/2024 16:54

Oh no @pinkchampagne1 I wonder if we will all get those ☹️ when did you order?

Georgieporgie29 · 12/11/2024 16:55

I’ve just been in to Tesco - they have their 25% off clothing again plus the vouchers are out where you get £2/3 off a £20 spend each week so make sure that is loaded to your card.

They also had W7 12 days of Christmas advent calendars for £9 and a few other bits like that ok club card prices. I got a couple of pics

@woodwaj Thank you 😊

Just wanted to update that I caved and ordered myself a mini tree from Bloom and Wild and it's beautiful. It's potted so I'm looking forward to using it every year, all being well.

I used a referral code to buy one for my friend, then someone used my referral code, so mine was practically free. 😂

Here's a picture of how it arrived - it came in such a narrow box I thought they'd sent flowers by mistake, but it's fluffed up beautifully. (I haven't decorated it yet as it's a bit early for me.)

Loads of referral codes on the Bargain Referrals thread.

In Tesco they had those teddy pillows with the arms for £14 from £30 on a clubcard offer. I got them for my teens last year and they love them. They also had a salter chocolatier for £33 from £45.

Guess used to have offers on a lot when I used that brand so worth holding out, they must have some offers around Black Friday.
It’s also worth contacting the McArthurglen outlets if you are local, to see if their store has any

Thanks. Might hold fire a bit then.

No unfortunately nowhere near but will hope for a better online discount.

tealdrop · 12/11/2024 17:20

The items in my Claire’s basket have doubled in price now the BOGO offer is on (they’d been half price for ages), so the new offer isn’t any better. I can’t get it to work on just two items either.

Tiredsince2007 · 12/11/2024 17:20

Would anyone have any idea how to get a Lakeland discount please?
