Thread 10 - the one with a rubber dick each

1000 replies

Reastie · 09/11/2024 06:18

Thanks @CalliopePlantain for the title. Lord of the Rings rubber dick anyone?! Grin

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Me neither. I think it popped up on a banner about 3am this morning but I've given up on it and checked out with what I had 😂

hugsandpugs · 11/11/2024 12:38

For those who signed up for the newsletter thing with ELF for the £5 off 20 spend did you get a code inboxed to you? I haven’t had anything through as yet

My 1st Years as an up to 50% sale on, i just ordered a new baby gift for a work colleague and also chanced using my blue light code discount and it worked!

Also last year i remember talk about coverless duvets after not paying attention i have decided i want one for at least ds1 as his bed its the hardest to change. Has anyone got any good recommendations?

The NightLark ones are the best IMO.
Costco instore have them cheaper than anywhere else I looked if you have access to a card. Freemans have Slumberdown ones on offer but I’m not sure of the quality.

CoffeeAndEnnui · 11/11/2024 13:02

£10 off Stanley Cups and FREE DELIVERY (as the order meets their £35 threshold) at Urban Outfitters today with the code STANLEY10.

UO has the exclusive purple colour too which I think looks a bit more festive and that (together with the discount) has taken some of the angst out of buying a large ugly cup😊

I can also vouch for Nightlark for coverless duvets. I have two of them and they are amazing. I think they usually do about 20% off on BF though iirc it didn't include the Christmas prints last year. I know I didn't pay full price for my two. They also sell via Amazon.

LostMyRubySlippers · 11/11/2024 13:10

Glad the elf offer has been so popular & people have been able to stack with additional codes too. Can’t take any credit at all as it was from hot uk deals but thought people here would appreciate it!
Realised I’d not actually checked my own basket out so have quickly done that now. Mine said expires today for anyone who’s still wanting to use it

Chatting to DC on the walk to school this morning and the following have been requested:
DS (4) spy gadgets (are the spy X Argos bits any good?), ninja things
DS (4) a walking, talking Santa that sings jingle bells and hands out presents, a machine that you put clothes in and it turns into a dinosaur (?!?)
DS (7) football cards, Minecraft for PS5
DS (9) Pokémon cuddly toys and cards

Does anyone have any tips or know of any offers?

On the Pokémon front I have been dithering over this 20 inch squishmallow, which seems like a good deal at £20

Someone mentioned few days ago about a discount on big potato games when you sign up. I also added my birthday & have today received a single use code for 25% off.
Delivery is 1.99 or free over £40.
obvs need to price check the games as some are likely to be cheaper elsewhere, but I’m looking at p is for pizza & this seems to be the cheapest I can currently get it, even after paying for delivery

Do they like the Pokeomon in the Amazon deal? It's not one I have heard of. I have one who loves Pokemon but he can be quite particular about which characters he likes. I must admit I do drift off sometimes when he starts monologuing about Pokemon.

We were in town the other day and he spotted this one. His brother has the sleeping Pikachu and it remains a hit a year on. They are pretty big and feel like ok value.

Sorry to Bang on about E.L.F but I did all the silly things in the rewards section
("look at our facebook page and earn 5 points!") etc. Turns out just clicking them is enough- it even gave me points for downloading an app (clicked it but didn't bother downloading!)

I have now wracked up points and have a selection of things to use on my next order, (free mascara, free night cream)

£6 for this preschool Chopping set with the 40% voucher
no idea what the ‘sleeves’ included are meant to be, but the wavy chopper is great for our kids to use, and the plastic knives okay for soft things. Think the wooden wedge is for harder stuff like carrots, though that’s always risky due to the force needed

We use those knives at DS' preschool cooking class, they're great and very durable, and as far as I know the cooking school have never had an injury from them!

PMAmostofthetime · 11/11/2024 13:57

Not sure if this has been posted but someone mentioned Abbot Lyon

It's 30% off with TAKE30

Or 2for1 with code 2FOR1

Ans the first 300 order get a free flower bracelet in silver or gold- I have just ordered and choose silver.

I haven’t been on the bargain threads since moving out of the UK 4y ago, I’m popping back in Dec and one he hunt for some bargains so I’m thoroughly enjoying them for a while😁 (does anyone else still receive 3-4 pairs of bamboo socks a year after the free socks link 6/7y ago 😂)

I’m on the hunt for a Mini movie Projector, one that can be thrown in a backpack for travel, would love if anyone has seen one for under £70!

Wholetthedogsoutwhowhowho · 11/11/2024 11:19

@Ewock I know this set is currently in there for £2.99 as I bought one and posted on here about it! Could it be this? Been on my amazon wish list for ages shivering around £14 so I was delighted I'd seen it in home bargains!

Edited

Probably, would you be able to share a picture? The only one in mine was £7.99 & I only wanted to spend a few pound as a stocking extra. Thanks

IlovePond · 11/11/2024 14:05

@BarryKentPoet - Iceland are good for miniature alcohol gift sets and Aldi has gin crackers for £3.99.
