Sorry - I panicked with the title Blush

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

When does everyone usually cancel the good housekeeping subscription? I'm still hoping my cashback on tcb will track and therefore don't want to do it too early...

I ordered my cuisinart blender on Monday and heard nothing since, did people say they were coming v quickly?

I ordered Monday too and mine came yesterday- no email to say they were coming, they just magically appeared!

New Look have 25% off today with the code PAYDAY25.

I was going to buy a jacket from them that was linked on Mumsnet yesterday. It went up in price £35 overnight! Hey ho, didn't really need it... I'll wait till the sales in Jan I think.

Myattention · 27/10/2024 11:10

Anyone with experience of a new customer deal with Freemans? You can get 25% of price a first order. It says excluding electrical but I wonder if that includes iPhones? I assume it does but I don’t want to risk a credit check to find out it doesn’t.

Okay it's happened, my system has collapsed. Been buying and stashing presents around the house. This morning I thought I'd give DH an early gift (actually intended for his birthday next week but would have been really handy this morning!!) and I can't find it ANYWHERE 😂😅 Have genuinely turned the house upside down.

Am obviously a complete novice to this being organised lark. Where in earth could it have gone?!

This happens to me ALL the time. Suggest clothes drawer, down the back of the washing machine, behind wherever you store your hoover, under the odd sock pile, shed? Just found a present I bought for one ds last year stashed behind all the blankets in the airing cupboard. You’re not alone!

Justhereforthechristmasthreads · 27/10/2024 11:19

@NobodyGivesADamn potentially these?

Trolls

That's just from a quick search. I used trolls world tour miniature figures as my google search in case there are other/better options

I found it!! Helpful suggestions on this thread prompted me to look again :D turns out I'd been looking for a cardboard box and it was not in one, also it was a black item inside a black storage box...master of disguise!

Does anyone have any good suggestions for an art supplies calendar for a young adult who is at sort of A level Art standard?

I found a nice Etsy one but it's sold out and I haven't found anything similar - a lot of the "art supplies" ones tend to have little twee stickers or pompoms in, and I'm looking for something a bit more "arty" and a bit less "crafty" IYSWIM.

There used to be a nice art subscription box company that would sell off excess boxes cheaply after they had been sent out for the month on that got mentions on previous versions of this thread over the years.
I meant to order some for myself but never got around to it. However there might be something on here who remembers who it was…
They did some interesting boxes and had a wide variety of different themes plus the pens/paints/inks/ etc they sent out were all from proper good art suppliers. Would definitely be good for an alevel student. Seem to remember they might have had particularly good deals around Black Friday.

@Myattention according to their site it look like phones are classed as electricals/electronics

Hello, Hobbycraft have those big cardboard houses/vans/rockets on sale for a tenner instead of £20. We had one years ago and it was fun to colour in (and then took up half the living room). Good for £10 I thought.

This may be a unique code but free delivery for TK Maxx code -

REQ-RS5W-2R75-FK87

I've just got x 2 branded eye creams (Pai) there for less than one would cost me direct Confused

If you are new to their products however they do a 90 day money back guarantee (even if you have almost finished the product!) so initially it's worth going direct ... I've posted some codes up thread for them

Mumto3thatsme · 27/10/2024 11:56

@Reastie new title contender the one with poopy the troll thanks to @NobodyGivesADamn

Houseofsardines · 27/10/2024 11:56

@ApiratesaysYarrr @wibdib I think it’s scrawlr boxes- previous boxes were on sale last year for £10 from £25, artful (closed now) ‘art school in a box’ was £45 now £35 on rymans. I think both are really good

NotAdultingToday · 27/10/2024 11:57

@HeadOfGregor we are going to go to sains in a bit ill have a look for you. Worst case if some else has got it for you my kids can have it 😂

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 27/10/2024 11:57

No idea if they will be the right size but my busy books did a trolls one, my daughters had it years ago. It was a book with playmat and 12 figures. My daughter had one from the original film but looks like there's a few versions. Its like this we used to buy them in supermarkets and whsmiths for around £7 and had loads of characters/films I'm not sure where sells them now though!

Thread 7 - the one with no name
ruralwanderer · 27/10/2024 12:09

@NobodyGivesADamn, Loads of Trolls stuff in Smyths and most of it has been half price all summer. I've got lots of teeny figures for my daughter from there including the boy band for less than a fiver.

okayhescereal · 27/10/2024 12:33

Just got all the pressies out and had a little sort so they're grouped by person and I'm so pleased with them all. This thread has been the best!!

Only have 2 boys left to buy for. One will turn 6 in January, the other is 3. Getting the older one a smart game (thanks to the person who suggested that!) for his birthday so just Christmas to go.

These boys have EVERYTHING. I can't even tell you. A bursting playroom, an entire craft area, books galore, a garage and shed full of outdoor kit. I could do a day out or something, but I feel like when you're 6/3 you want something to open rather than an 'iou a day at the park with ice cream'. The 6 year old is quite a studious, quiet chap. Will sit and concentrate on things, enjoys reading. His brother is an absolute tear around. So much energy!!! They already have a bunch of memberships to places as well, plus those are usually outside of my £10-15 budget.

Any ideas?!

No vampire mice round hereEaster Sad
