Is it still 'Christmas' at your house?

We can't celebrate until the 30th this year. It feels very strange. They've stopped playing Christmas songs on the radio, the fresh Christmas food is all sold out, I saw someone at the dump today disposing of their tree... Please tell me you're still in 'Christmas mode' at your house, make me feel less left out!!

I had buffet food for breakfast again 😅

ShowOfHands · 02/01/2024 17:43

I also had crackers, cheese and pickles for lunch, next to the tree. I've taken down all the other decorations as I'm back to work tomorrow and won't have time again for a couple of weeks. The tree is still looking healthy and not dropping and it fills me with joy so it can stay where it is until Saturday. Most of the lights in the village have disappeared now.

Gah. Not ready to move on just yet.

We are still lighting the candles on our advent wreath every evening for dinner. We have our final Christmassy day on Saturday with epiphany stockings and christmas dinner.

That sounds lovely! Tempted to do the same, DH would probably take the mickey though. 😄

Yes the three king’s celebration on 12th night- much bigger in mainland Christian Europe.

We have been doing it for a few years. I find it brings a definite end to the season. It stops the christmas focus just being one day. When they were younger i used it to get then Smiggle stuff i got in the January sale and resented paying full price for.

and I've added chalking the door to our routine too.

Xmas mode in my house until DC goes back to college on January 9th.

caringcarer · 02/01/2024 21:03

I've still got some Xmas food left. Tub of Treeslet's, tub of Heroes, shortbread and some cheeses and crackers. I've just cooked a turkey and a leg of lamb yesterday so leftover turkey is definitely Xmas mode. I'll be making a turkey stew tomorrow.

Yes! We had Christmas dinner yesterday as I was very ill with food poisoning last week. My parents are coming up on Saturday for a festive buffet. We still have mince pies and brandy butter, a whole Christmas cake, lebkuchen and other nibbles. I’m not back to work until the 9th, so the tree and decs will stay up until Sunday.

LancashireSquirrel · 02/01/2024 21:30

Also still in Christmas mode here! Also because we all were so unwell last week! The DC (and myself) don't go back to school/work until next week so we're still enjoying the tree/lights/TV/quality street!

buttercupcake · 02/01/2024 21:34

Definitely still Christmas in our house! The kids don’t go back to school until the 8th, so we’ll keep celebrating until then. We had a huge NY day dinner yesterday, with gammon, chicken, pigs in blankets, the lot, and we just had a pie made out of all the leftovers for dinner tonight. We’re still building Lego, watching films, eating chocolate and playing board games ❤️

I feel really robbed this holiday. We broke up on the 21st and go back tomorrow. It seems so short.

We still have loads of Christmas food left. A few more days of board games, Christmas cake and fairy lights would be perfect. Instead, I've just set my alarm and I'm back to teaching tomorrow.

Bloom15 · 02/01/2024 22:06

I am back working tomorrow (wfh) and still feeling Christmassy! DS is back in school until the 8th so that helps

kikisparks · 02/01/2024 22:30

One tree is down and one to go, back in the office on Thursday unfortunately.

AllAroundMyCat · 02/01/2024 22:37

It's jingle all the way here until the 6th.
Loving it. And loads more Christmas beige food shite to eat! Brilliant!

mondaytosunday · 02/01/2024 22:46

Will be Christmas until my daughter goes back to college, which we thought was tomorrow but is Thursday!

Thislittlekitten · 02/01/2024 22:57

Everything came down on NYE. Earliest ever for us but I work in hospitality and am exhausted. Kids off until the 8th and we had a great Christmas but after Boxing Day it just didn’t feel the same this year.
I hate not having time off at this time of year with the kids to do all the lovely things others do. We had fun though just it’s not very Christmasy or relaxing when your working long shifts through it.

GettingStuffed · 03/01/2024 15:00

We do 12 days of Christmas so it's Christmas until the weekend
