Is it still 'Christmas' at your house?

We can't celebrate until the 30th this year. It feels very strange. They've stopped playing Christmas songs on the radio, the fresh Christmas food is all sold out, I saw someone at the dump today disposing of their tree... Please tell me you're still in 'Christmas mode' at your house, make me feel less left out!!

Yes to the point I’m a little sick of it and want to try to attempt to create a little bit of normalcy tomorrow 😂

ChoseARandomUserName · 27/12/2023 23:49

The tree will stay up, but I'm back at the gym tomorrow. I can't take it any longer. I want a day of really clean, minimal eating too, and tonnes of herbal tea.
Sorry OP.

HardHeartedHarbingerofHaggis · 27/12/2023 23:49

Absolutely still.l here, haven't even opened the pate yet. We'll still be in Christmas mode until at least 4th when the kids go back to school.

Resisterance · 27/12/2023 23:54

Christmas here till 6th Jan! Will take it all down then.

43ontherocksporfavor · 27/12/2023 23:56

Yes. Had turkey curry tonight after a Christmas light trail. Fairy lights still on and a family gathering still to go on 29th.

someon · 27/12/2023 23:56

We are still very much in Christmas mode here too we are still eating Christmas food we also went to Panto today . I've always seen and treated it as Christmas week till New Years Day our decorations always comes down on the 2nd Jan

ActuallyChristmas · 27/12/2023 23:57

The festive season lasts officially until 12th night. Cards and decorations stay up until then, tree also unless the official recycling comes before that (it’s 4th Jan here in 2024). Christmas foodstuffs like lebkuchen last until they run out. I plan that for Feb/March.

isthisrockbottomyet · 28/12/2023 01:47

Still Christmas here. Covid means several things have been postponed so it will probably have to go on past 12th night. We're only just getting going!

mondaytosunday · 28/12/2023 01:50

Yes! Nutcracker ballet today, for example - can't get more Christmassy than that!

pizzaHeart · 28/12/2023 01:52

Mix feelings there. The tree is still up, lights are still in the garden and presents are still out but DH tested positive for Covid yesterday and unwell with temperature so Im not in the festive mood anymore.

Oppositioblue · 28/12/2023 07:36

No, all finished here and decorations will be back in the attic tonight. We are all back to work and none of us have any interest in NYE. It’s just us back to normal.

UnimaginableWindBird · 28/12/2023 07:47

I'll be baking mince pies and a Yule log today.

RaininSummer · 28/12/2023 07:52

I know what you mean. We are christmassing fri and saturday and I am at work today. Feels odd but very much want to do the Christmas things with my adult children who had to be elsewhere this year. Not doing traditional dinner though as that is too much.

Iamthatgenius · 28/12/2023 07:58

Yes

  • tree still up
  • haven't opened all the presents yet
  • haven't opened the cheese and biscuits yet
  • haven't made the Christmas cake yet 😂 it's an M&S kit so takes 6 hours not 6 weeks
  • haven't opened the Christmas pudding yet
  • only opened the Bailey's last night

We tend to start Christmas on 24th and spread it out until January, and it is perfect for us.

Spacemoon · 28/12/2023 07:59

It will still very much be Christmas in our house until the day after new Year's Day when all the decs come down and I finally stop eating cheese and chocolate as my main diet 🤣!

I saw 3 people on my Instagram on boxing day proudly showing how they had taken the tree down - all of them have young children and I felt a bit sorry for the kids if I'm honest!

I am however having a good deep clean and sort out today (as best as you can around the decs and piles of toys!) As our house literally looks like a bombs gone off! We will be doing a tip run later of all the wrapping/cardboard/gift bags etc as well as a charity shop drop off of old toys, books etc, so as to make room to store the new ones as space is limited.

My youngest is still playing Christmas songs on repeat - it's very festive here still! You're definitely not alone.

anothernamechangeagainsndagain · 28/12/2023 08:00

Yes, off work until 2nd. Decorations will stay up until 6th

PumpkinSpicedTea · 28/12/2023 08:24

Everyone is different I know but personally I hate that Christmas ends abruptly on Boxing day. Sometimes it feels like by Christmas eve there's sales already, no Christmas adverts (which I do get but it's full of holiday adverts) and lots of storage boxes for sale in the likes of B&M! Same with taking decorations down on boxing day, we have more family round so its still another Christmas celebration.

We don't put our tree up until roughly 14-16th December and it stays up until the day before we to back to school.

I love the in between Christmas and new year period as it's a nice chilled out festive time. New year is when I feel the need to start fresh.

MyLibrarywasdukedomlargeenough · 28/12/2023 08:25

Cheeseboard and port, charades and leftovers so very much still like Christmas.

JessieLongleg · 28/12/2023 08:35

Oh yes in-laws Nd extended family today and cousins over new year. Tree is up till everyone has visited.

Aquarelles · 28/12/2023 09:06

I'm itching to get the tree down today which isn't like me as I normally leave it up as long as possible.

I still have a fridge full of Christmas food so I might just clear everything apart from the fairy lights and lovely candles Smile

WonderingWanda · 28/12/2023 09:07

Still Christmas here too!

Pipistrellus · 28/12/2023 09:09

Yes, still Christmas! Hoping to buy a panettone today but wondering if they will have sold out?

LeonoraFlorence · 28/12/2023 09:10

Still Christmas here as far as I know. I’ve not been well so in bed and DH has been looking after the girls. I have been hearing Xmas music this morning, though DD2 was complaining in car last night that Heart Xmas has disappeared! 😂

DH is taking girls to a different panto this afternoon with his friend and his little ones after a lunch out. Last minute decision but they’re definitely still all in festive mood. Christmas clothes are on already and he’s even managed the Christmas hair bows/boppers (though I suspect DDs have had a hand in it!).

HelpMeGetThrough · 28/12/2023 09:10

I want to get rid of the decorations and tree.

I hate clutter and they have been doing my head in from the minute they were up and it's only been a week.

Pipistrellus · 28/12/2023 09:11

I didn't plan for twelfth night before Christmas started 😞
