We can't celebrate until the 30th this year. It feels very strange. They've stopped playing Christmas songs on the radio, the fresh Christmas food is all sold out, I saw someone at the dump today disposing of their tree... Please tell me you're still in 'Christmas mode' at your house, make me feel less left out!!

Still xmas here
Tree lit up and outside. Also nipped aldi and bought reduce xmas food. Also had my 3rd xmas dinner today.
Very much tv watching, pjs and couch

My tree comes down 30th/31st. Ring in the new year clean and fresh without decks

I’m clinging on to Christmas for dear life! It’s the only time I have cheese board & baileys & a hot choc brownie with clotted cream after lunch every day.

Anything to delay the mundane 5-day & soup for lunch routine!

Babyboomtastic · 27/12/2023 22:42

Chocolate log for breakfast and my third Christmas dinner for lunch here 😀

We've still got 3 more family Christmas celebrations, the last one not until January so it'll be Christmas here for more than another week.

Thank goodness. I'm need that time to eat all the chocolate and gingerbread!

DisforDarkChocolate · 27/12/2023 22:44

Definitely but I am putting away all the sweet treats so I stop eating so many. We have family coming on 4th January, there will be Christmas Dinner.

frecklejuice · 27/12/2023 22:45

No!

Everything is down and just needs to be put into the loft, I can't stand to look at it all after Christmas Day.

mrsfollowill · 27/12/2023 22:47

Still Christmas here. We didn't put the tree up until 23rd so it's not coming down yet! We are all off work until 2nd or 3rd Jan so that's when it will end this year.
We have family coming round tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday and had visitors today - all very chilled - no big meals to make etc bar Saturday when we have a very simple buffet planned. Loving not getting up in the dark and waking up without an alarm.

coodawoodashooda · 27/12/2023 22:47

Still waiting too op

blahblahx · 27/12/2023 22:50

Still very much in Christmas mode in our house

Chocolate for breakfast.
New toys everywhere
Christmas music playing

It's over for us after New Year

Daffyyellow · 27/12/2023 22:51

Was expecting a visit from friends, so Christmas still very much here. Tested +ve for covid yesterday, friends no longer coming. Turkey finished tonight. Tip slot booked for the 4th, so tree will come down on the 3rd, went up week before Christmas.

Purplerain0505 · 27/12/2023 22:52

Still Christmas here! I hate focusing it all on one day, it feels like such a waste. We’re still working through a stack of treats, wine and gin and it will keep going until New Year’s Day.

frozendaisy · 27/12/2023 22:52

Still Christmas here, didn't have time to watch any of the Christmas specials, tree still smells, lights still pretty. Food slightly altering but still many treats and not nagging nippers about eating vegetables.

Not had a moment to read festive reads will do this coming week.

Christmas is an atmosphere not a date. I usually feel more christmassey on boxing day.

So relax, sit back, enjoy the moments and forget about the actual date.

mdinbc · 27/12/2023 22:52

We had to take everything down early this year since we are going to visit DD tomorrow and stay until the 6th. Usually decorations stay up until Jan 1.

But I am still eating sweets and leftover turkey!

mamaduckbone · 27/12/2023 22:52

Absolutely! Tree will be up until after new year, today was a rest day after all the celebrations but still Christmassy - we watched Die Hard, had a drink and ate chocolates tonight. I love this bit after Christmas when there's time to properly relax and there's still loads of yummy food left in the house. We've got another big family gathering tomorrow as well.

Sodullincomparison · 27/12/2023 22:53

New toys just went upstairs and extra decorations are packed away.

DH is back at work.

so it’s a tidied up version of Christmas.

Still Christmas though as crackers and cheese are still a staple meal and DD is insisting on pyjama days all day to play and not be in a rush.

ANightmareBeforeChristmas · 27/12/2023 22:55

Yep - Christmas till I go back to work next week.

MixingMimosas · 27/12/2023 23:20

Yes definitely still Christmas here. I love the smell and look of the tree and the cosiness of it all. I love the fluidity of these days with the teen DC at home and the full nest.

mollyfolk · 27/12/2023 23:26

It’s full on Christmas till I go back to work on the 2nd and then there is little Christmas -Nollaig na mBan here in Ireland, I have a little group that goes out for this.

we are full on Christmas movies, decorations , food for all of Christmas week here.

LizzieFromTheForest · 27/12/2023 23:31

100%. Yes. Still got all the decorations and all the lights in the garden, the Christmas tree of course, and all the cards up. We're barely even a third of the way through our Christmas food - biscuits, cakes, savouries, nibbles, all the booze etc. We've still got two trifles left, and a Christmas cake, and we are still watching Christmas films, and Christmas TV specials... The diet will start next Tuesday! We'll probably take everything down. (Decorations and lights) Maybe a week today...

ApplesinmyPocket · 27/12/2023 23:33

We've got used to juggling the various days around due to adult kids' shifts, etc, esp. now one is married so their family has to be factored in too; so I'm used to Christmas being time-shifted this way or that - which usually means a longer Christmas period - which for me is GOOD 😀as I love Christmas and always have!

This year in particular, I was so ill Eve and Day, (Covid maybe, or maybe flu, with an added shot of disabling, nauseating labyrinthitis) that yesterday was the first day I had that wonderful feeling of good health coming back to sort out my toxic, poisoned body cells: so you better believe I'm keeping Christmas going till 12th night!

So, we sat with the beautiful Christmas tree tonight in a cosy room, watching Agatha Christie, eating chocolates and nuts, and feeling wonderful. Tomorrow the same, with a cosy hour reading a new book in bed while the fierce winds roar outside.

It's quite traditional anyway. The 12 days of Christmas began on Christmas Eve, I think.

itismytime · 27/12/2023 23:36

Kids birthday tomorrow and party Saturday. Christmas has to be over in our house

OfficerChurlish · 27/12/2023 23:37

Leftovers ran out yesterday (I'd happily eat more of them if they hadn't!), but the tree and wreath and lights and all of the decorations are still up. They'll come down on 6 January.

Ewoklady · 27/12/2023 23:38

Yes !! We’ve had Christmas dinner 3 days in a row (with crackers etc) and it’s been lovely
going to nice meal NYD and then will take the tree down on the first

but for now … really enjoying it and also topped up on Christmassy food today

bloatedbobby · 27/12/2023 23:39

Christmas only really starts for me on Christmas eve. Everyone still got their trees & decs up here. seeing friends & family & doing xmas stuff all week.

IWishIWasABaller · 27/12/2023 23:41

Definitely still Christmas here , currently eating a turkey, ham and stuffing sandwich by the fire watching national lampoon's Christmas vacation beside the tree. Kids toys are all over the house and theres loads of goodies & treats still hanging around .
