Is it still 'Christmas' at your house?

We can't celebrate until the 30th this year. It feels very strange. They've stopped playing Christmas songs on the radio, the fresh Christmas food is all sold out, I saw someone at the dump today disposing of their tree... Please tell me you're still in 'Christmas mode' at your house, make me feel less left out!!

Still Christmas here.
The only non-Christmas thing is that I have put the remaining bubble & squeak in the freezer and we are on toast for breakfast, other than that it is still Christmas food (including C&B for supper).

Needhelpsupport · 28/12/2023 09:18

Am working today .Son is going to make up a Christmas pie for supper with a Turkey/ Gammon ,left over veg filling combo ! Looking forward to it .
Tree will come down 6 th Jan . Not one needle dropped yet .

Just went to Lidl and it was so bare and depressing. I would have bought a few more festive bits if they had had any. It's hard planning for the whole of Christmas before it starts as I don't know what I will be given.

Taytocrisps · 28/12/2023 10:29

I'm back to work on the 4th, so it will still be Christmas until I take down the tree and decorations (probably on the 2nd).

The last few days have been very family oriented. The next few days will be quiet ones where I catch up on all the TV I didn't get to watch because I was busy with family. There's lots of nice food left (snack food and cheese and chocolates etc. - no turkey and ham because I didn't cook on Christmas Day). There are no small kids here so there are no toys lying around, but there are jigsaws and books to be enjoyed. And cats to be cuddled. These quiet days are very much a part of my Christmas and I know I'm lucky to have so much time off. I'd find it hard to go straight into work after a hectic few days. I reckon I won't need to hit a supermarket until tomorrow, although I might need to pick up some milk today.

I probably won't watch any Christmas movies though. It feels odd watching them after Christmas Day. I guess that's because they always stop showing them after Christmas Day on TV.

Definitely still Christmas here, still all in pj's lounging around watching tv and reading, presents might get tidied to under the tree later as we have friends around tomorrow, will use the rest of the turkey and ham today for dinner and make some Christmas pies for the freezer.

MerryBlueberry · 28/12/2023 10:32

Full Christmas here until the 6th!

Rosesandstars · 28/12/2023 10:34

We've always celebrated the 12 days of Christmas in my house. I find it bizarre that lots of people want it to end on 26th/27th! That way there's all of the stress of the lead up including Christmas shopping, for one day of tiring cooking and then the decorations are gone well ahead of the long long month of January... nah! We take the tree down on 6th Jan or sometimes later.

Christmas in our house til Hogmanay

Olika · 28/12/2023 10:37

We have no Xmas food left but the tree is still up.

Musiclover234 · 28/12/2023 10:38

Unfortunately I was back in work Boxing Day so my festive spirits have dampened. I work on a ward and it’s very busy l, short staffed and not at all festive now!

Our tree stays up and we have plans for weekend and nye day time. Still have some snacks in. Only partner home to eat so he has gone to see family and friends while I’m working

OnceUponATimeInChristmasTime · 28/12/2023 10:43

I'm taking the decorations down because they're being battered by the weather, but the Christmas celebrations and food and slobbery relaxation is still definitely taking place here. In fact, this is the first day we're planning on not leaving the house and eating all of the Christmas food!

May09Bump · 28/12/2023 10:47

Still is here - decorations might come down on 2nd as the children will be back at school (quite early for us).

OneWildNightWithJBJ · 28/12/2023 10:49

Definitely still Christmas here! This is Christmas week for us. I suppose it depends on whether or not you’re working. Me and DH have never had to work between Xmas and New Year, but if we did then perhaps it’d feel less Christmassy.

I swear people didn’t used to get Xmas over with so quickly in the past, but maybe I never realised as there was no social media posts saying they’d taken the tree down on Boxing Day!

Soccermumamir · 28/12/2023 12:39

Yes. Still got tree up. I've just got back from the gym and decided to watch a Christmas Carol 😆 I never watch Xmas films usually this late, but hey ho. I'm still in the spirit for some reason 😅

Busy scoffing Christmas goodies here with the tree all lit up. Definitely Christmas still here Xmas Wink

Babyboomtastic · 28/12/2023 13:25

The way I see it is that the rum up to Christmas is getting everything ready for Christmas. Christmas day is when it fully begins rather than the end.

The kids don't go back until the 8th here and apart from a couple of days we are both off until then.

DocOck · 28/12/2023 13:28

Decorations are down today but the eating and drinking continues!

gingercat02 · 28/12/2023 13:35

Yep full on Christmas here. Tree and decs and cards up until 12th night
I've just made 2 pans of soup from the turkey stock (Thai chicken turkey noodle and lentil and bacon)
I'm going to put away gifts and do a couple of returns later.
Going to my Mum's for dinner tomorrow.
I'm off until 3rd, DS until 8th and DH until the 9th, so lots of holiday spirit left here

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 28/12/2023 13:36

They were still playing carols on Classic yesterday.

Dillane · 28/12/2023 13:37

Absolutely 🎅🏻🎄☃️🥳

ApolloandDaphne · 28/12/2023 13:38

Christmas has gone here. We are off for a holiday in the sun tomorrow.

CirreltheSquirrel · 28/12/2023 13:41

I only just got round to icing my cake this morning so we're certainly not finished! We were away the weekend before Christmas, then spent the day itself with family. We got home yesterday so now is our chill in the house and do the things we want to do time.

Floralnomad · 28/12/2023 13:42

Still Christmas here

SnowJamz · 28/12/2023 14:39

It’s always still Christmas until New Years Day for us.

TooOldForThisNonsense · 28/12/2023 14:40

Yes it’s still Christmas between Christmas and New Year here. Today is only day 4 of the 12 days of Christmas!
