Is it still 'Christmas' at your house?

We can't celebrate until the 30th this year. It feels very strange. They've stopped playing Christmas songs on the radio, the fresh Christmas food is all sold out, I saw someone at the dump today disposing of their tree... Please tell me you're still in 'Christmas mode' at your house, make me feel less left out!!

Definitely Christmas here.sitting here watching Christmas films by the tree scoffing chocolate

MuddledMadge · 28/12/2023 14:59

Yes, it's still Christmas here. It took too much planning for it to be over already.

MegBusset · 28/12/2023 15:07

It’s not been Christmas here yet, because I’ve been in bed with horrific noro since Christmas Eve!

I’m starting to feel better, so current plan is Christmas dinner on NYD, and family coming up the following weekend. So tree and decs will be staying up until at least 6 Jan.

FionnulaTheCooler · 28/12/2023 15:52

I've taken down my tree and decorations this afternoon and given my living room a good clean. I like to have everything back to normal and tidy for the New Year coming in and we've got plans the next couple of days so thought I would get it done today while the weather is shite anyway.

theduchessofspork · 28/12/2023 15:54

We are! Christmas snd NY one continuous holiday in this house.

Fluffyhoglets · 28/12/2023 15:56

Yes still Christmas here as well. We tend to leave stuff up till 12th night if we can.

TammyJones · 28/12/2023 15:59

Snap here. I am "working" but it's quiet so I thought I would just get rid of it all so I didn't have to do it on my weekend.

Just because I have taken the decs down 3 days after Christmas didn't mean I enjoyed having them up any less, or that my Christmas wasn't a smasher. Because it was. But it's over now.

kikisparks · 28/12/2023 16:03

Yup, still toys everywhere, tree up, and I’ve had cheese and crackers and some last bits from the Christmas desserts today. I am working tomorrow though which may spoil the mood a little!

TammyJones · 28/12/2023 16:40

This is a nice thread Wink

DrCoconut · 28/12/2023 17:08

I'm just about to tuck into Christmas dinner with just me and the kids here after a couple of days with family and one do nothing day. We still have lots of festive food and it's school holidays until 8th (bad timing as it's too cold and wet to be outdoors but all the festive activities at museums etc are over). Christmas until 6th Jan here.

clementine20 · 28/12/2023 17:35

Definitely Xmas here!

In-laws here till tomorrow then over to my brothers tomorrow evening to swap presents with the cousins.

Left over food around and still enjoying all the decorations and loafing about.

Friends staying over for new year, so 5 teenagers roaming around, a picky dinner with just us on New Year's Day whilst watching a film & then packing it all away and back to business on the 2nd Jan!

mathanxiety · 28/12/2023 18:17

Yes, it's still Christmas here. The tree is up, there are still chocolates in the boxes, the fridge is still loaded with leftovers, and I have my Christmas music from Spotify playing on the alexa. I'm sitting around all this week reading a book and doing a puzzle I got as gifts, with no intention of cooking again until new years eve.

daffodilandtulip · 29/12/2023 11:46

I've just tidied away the clutter. The advent calendars, shiny Santas and Christmas countdown type stuff.

I'm just left with a nice kitchen sideboard display, the main tree, the mantle piece and nice bits like pine cones, to give us some twinkle into the new year.

Newsenmum · 29/12/2023 11:47

Until new year!

LadyMacbethWasMisunderstood · 29/12/2023 12:12

Still Christmas here. Presents still out in the sitting room (though tidied into orderly piles), trees and decorations still up and still listening to Christmas music. Definitely keeping it going until NYD. And decorations won’t come down till 6th.

amberisola · 29/12/2023 14:07

Still Christmas here and will be until January 6th (or 8th as that's the Monday back at work!)

My Xmas started late as I was ill and then spent two days frantically cleaning and cooking. Yesterday I had to cover at work. I'm still tired and fighting off a chest infection. A rest was desperately needed...

Today I'm lying around surrounded by fairy lights, making my way through a stack of books, drinking coffee spiked with Baileys. As it should be ☺️

43ontherocksporfavor · 29/12/2023 14:08

Last family gathering today then it’s over mentally for me but tree will be up until 12th night and will still be eating cheese for some weeks…

INeverForgetAFaceButInYourCaseIdLikeTo · 29/12/2023 14:09

I take down the tree/decorations/cards in stages, so that it doesn't seem so bare. The cards have gone, the decorations will go tomorrow, then the tree itself will go into the loft on NY Eve.

TheMousePipes · 29/12/2023 14:23

I’ve packed the more cluttery decor away but the tree will be up until school starts on the 4th. I leave lights up, and the wreath on the door/extra greenery and candles until Imbolc on the 1st February.

ChristmasIsComing2023 · 30/12/2023 21:14

Tree, cards and the small amount of decorations we have are still up, ds still has over 10 presents to open, breakfast is still chocolate and biscuits 🤷‍♀️😂
We will be having another little buffet tomorrow and a takeaway on New Year’s Day if there’s anything open that we want. Chocolate, biscuits, crisps and leftover buffet food will then probably feed us for a couple more days (we have regular food in for teas) then it is dps birthday so we’ll be going out to eat and it will go back to normal life/normal food until my birthday a few weeks later 😁

FestiveFruitloop · 02/01/2024 12:39

Thought I'd bump this to see who's still got their decs up/ still ploughing through Xmas food etc 😄

My decs will be up until Twelfth Night at the earliest, I'm not ready to say goodbye to them yet and we've only got through about half the Christmas cake and various other nibbles. I started work again today, but as I wfh I'm enjoying working with the decorations still around me - makes the first day back a lot less painful!

Our real tree is still holding up quite well, might take the baubles off on 6th, but keeping the lights up for as long as the tree is still looking healthy and not shedding too much.

Every year I toy with doing Candlemas as the decs do wonders for my SAD, but I've never quite got there yet, always ended up feeling silly and taking them down. 😄

Pipistrellus · 02/01/2024 12:58

Yes, everything is still up. I'm back at work but it's still Christmas. My Christmas candle has finished but I'm putting tealights in the jar on the dark mornings.

Pipistrellus · 02/01/2024 12:58

I still have half a Christmas cake, nuts and chocolate.

daffodilandtulip · 02/01/2024 13:47

I work at home and I've just had cheese, crackers, cake and Pringles for my lunch, next to the Christmas tree Xmas Grin
