Ds3 asked for toy that doesn't exist

My DS3 loves the show Giant Jack on Netflix and has asked Santa for a Giant Jack toy for Christmas. I have searched everywhere and bar a 6in Teddy that costs £79.99 plus postage from America (that won't get here on time now) they don't exist. I'd hoped when he asked at the beginning of December he'd forget about it but everyday he says he can't wait for his Giant Jack toy. I don't understand why they don't make merchandise for this and have tried to put it to the back of my mind but I feel so sad for him that he's not going to get what he wants for Christmas and this is the first time he's really understood Christmas and Santa etc - November birthday so had just turned 2 last year. I've managed to get a small book from Amazon but if anyone has any good ideas of how I could make or come across a Giant Jack toy (called trash truck in America) I would be so appreciative, otherwise please tell me I haven't ruined Christmas for him already at only 3 Sad

Oh man I had this with octonauts when ds was almost 3.

Could Giant Jack be on his way from America on Xmas day? Maybe you could track him on Google maps, print some pics of him on his journey? Have you checked etsy for something handmade, or maybe you could commission a plush toy from a UK maker?

Typical netflix - you can't buy the octonauts movies in any format anywhere, stuck with a subscription just to watch the musical...

Or could you go the other way and sink him into something new like blaze? Some other vehicle franchise with accessible toys?

There is also a plush Trash Truck on Etsy for £27ish but it’s made in America so wouldn’t arrive in time for Santa 😔

John Lewis also do a green recycling truck

Singleandproud · 14/12/2023 23:26

Or in this case, you make one yourself with a printout and some junk modelling bits with a letter from a trainee elf who did their best, and maybe includes some other junk modelling things so DS can make his own version

Truck: Meet Hank (My First I Can Read) amzn.eu/d/6mHqyn5 This book is on amazon and would arrive in time?

Little People Recycling Truck, Push-Along Musical Toy with Figure for Toddlers and Preschool Kids Ages 1 to 5 Years amzn.eu/d/1Yu8DRJ This toy looks similar and will arrive before Christmas. Not actually trash truck though.

I would go for the one for £26 because whether or not it arrives after Christmas your DS would still be happy. You could do a letter from Father Christmas explaining that he got lost or fell out of the sleigh when he does arrive? There are children's books about a toy that got lost from the sleigh so it would make it more believable to him if you read one of them sometime before Christmas. I actually ordered a book from America earlier this year and the estimated delivery was 2 months but to my surprise I received it in less than 2 weeks, hopefully it could come before Christmas.

Can the ‘elves’ make him one from cardboard boxes and green paint?

MigGirl · 14/12/2023 23:43

I feel your pain, DD loved Show me show me when little and wanted a stuffy for Christmas one year. They have never sold a toy of stuffy, I ended up making my own and one for a friend's little girl to.

Good luck on your hunt, I'm sure your hut I'm sure your DS will be happy with whatever you come up with.

How artistic are you?

DS was into Bing when he was small. One year he asked for a Hoppity kite. His Hoppity kite was some laminated pictures of Hoppity velcroed onto a kite so we could take them off to fly it. He also wanted a Bubble Duck, which was a Frankenstein's monster of a yellow bath duck and a hand soap dispenser bottle. Took me longer to make than it lasted.

Get creative with it, at three years old kids have plenty of imagination about them and not a lot of expectations.

Windintrees · 14/12/2023 23:53

Playmobil have a recycling truck with crane, bottle bank and figures for about £40.

Amara123 · 14/12/2023 23:53

Order the present and when it comes, "find" it behind the sofa. Santa must have dropped it!

grumpycow1 · 15/12/2023 00:11

Order one of the above trash trucks

get these svg files https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/1555295644/trash-truck-instant-download-birthday?click_key=a12a99d458e40e9ba841afffbadfd7041475089c%3A1555295644&click_sum=fa8e4c33&ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=trash+truck&ref=sr_gallery-1-2&dd=1

order them into stickers on printed.com (or ask the Etsy seller if they can)

stick them on the truck

SpeedOfLife · 15/12/2023 00:39

Do you know anyone who to crochet one similar to the plush?

DuskandSummer · 15/12/2023 00:57

Could you have an image of Giant Jack printed on a cushion or blanket, something special he could take to bed with him?

sashh · 15/12/2023 01:04

A few things here

Paint the headlights white and add pupils with a Sharpie, at 3 your child will not notice or care it isn't official.

Jakc · 15/12/2023 06:35

If you pm me your address I will make him something x
