A snoopy watch. Just seen that Timex have a range. Shall I put one on my list?
(I did get a timex watch, but it was plain blue and snoopyless).

I suppose back then (1970’s) there wasn’t the massive choice that there is now, maybe that’s why the same toys keep cropping up on this thread.

I have shown the Snoopy watch to my lovely DS who has made noises about getting it for me! If he does, I will post a picture on Christmas Day! 🎅🏻

I wanted a dolls high chair and heelys/roller skates. I didn’t get heelys or roller skates as I would have ended up injuring myself but I don’t know why the dolls high chair was a no 🤷‍♀️

This.

I had one of those! I loved it so much as a child I bought a 2nd hand one when my kids were little (still have it actually!).

LemondropSnowdrop · 03/11/2023 20:29

A tambourine.

I got a tangerine!

I didn't appreciate the joke

A dolls house with lights in. My cousin had one made by my grandad and I never understood why he didn't make me one too- did he love her more?

Are you my cousin! My Granda made me one when I was 5 and I ruined it by painting it blue!

What I got versus what I reaaaally wanted.

I had a Snoopy watch with a red strap! Never got the Mr Frosty I actually wanted though.

FlutteryButterfly · 03/11/2023 20:49

Yep, for about the millionth time on this thread - Mr Frosty. Also, Soda Stream!

Wanted the Barbie dream house one year, got a very very (lovingly made) DIY job version!

Appreciate everything I was given even with disappointment. Understood from an early age that not everyone was in such a fortunate position.

LostInTheColonies · 03/11/2023 20:53

A new bike - mine was way too small. I sent a letter up the chimney to Father Christmas and everything... My sister got a bike and she hadn't even asked!

However @FeltCarrot I did have a Snoopy watch! Not only that, it was blue, and a reward for learning how tell the time. Loved it so much.

stillthinking22 · 03/11/2023 21:41

@OtterAnimagus

I had one of these. DH thinks it is the saddest thing ever that it was one of my favourite toys. I had to Google a photo to prove it was a real toy as he didn't believe that it was something that would sell.

What?! The petite post office was my absolute favourite toy. I loved putting on the little stamps. What was his favourite toy out of interest??

Oooh I had one! My big sister bought it for me (it was blue). Wish I’d kept it. I always wanted a piano (a real one). Never did get one.

Feduppluckingmychinhairs · 03/11/2023 21:52

A peaches and cream barbie, I believed Santa would bring it and he did. This was in the 80s when money was very scarce. To this day I still remember the feel and smell of her when I took her out of the box.

orangetriangle · 03/11/2023 22:02

the Sunday house back in the day it was made of two bits of cardboard that crossed over each other to make 4 rooms my mum flatly refused to but it as it was quite a lot of money especially for in effect two bits of cardboard!! I remember going to the supermarket to get cardboard boxes which they gave away for free back in the day so I could try to make one
My best friend at the time had one and I was so jealous
Wasnt until years later she confessed she was jealous of me as I had a baby sister and she didn't and had to make do with a pretend one!!

Justhereforthechristmasthreads · 03/11/2023 22:09

@FeltCarrot at the fear of taking you down a rabbit hole did you know there is a full Timex range

Timex Snoopy Collection

jocktamsonsbairn · 03/11/2023 23:22

70s kid here and like everyone else Mr Frosty! As an adult I can see why I didn't get it!!

FeltCarrot · 25/12/2023 10:06

Snoopy watch didn’t materialise and now I feel really disappointed.
Need to give my head a wobble.
(It’s OOS so no chance of even ordering it myself now)😥

Cabbage Patch kid. My mum refused to pay for an expensive ugly doll. I bought myself a 25th anniversary doll as an adult. Plus Mr Frosty. I bought one for DD and it was rubbish a total waste of money.

They are fricking expensive these days! I bought my SIL one a couple of years back and it was extortionate.

theduchessofspork · 25/12/2023 11:47

A pony.. 😁

AppleChristsBirthdayMacchiato · 25/12/2023 11:49

A Sylvanian Family Caravan, which my mum looked everywhere for and finally tracked down sometime in February, I believe.

I also desperately wanted a Mr Frosty for years, and was highly disappointed when I finally got one!

HotChocolateWithCointreau · 25/12/2023 12:57

A Lights Alive

Squirrel28 · 25/12/2023 13:56

I also really want a Snoopy watch and every so often I look at them and think ‘can I buy one? Or is it too expensive?’ I think you should keep checking and buy it when it comes back into stock.

(I always wanted a pony. Bought myself one 30 years later. THAT is why I don’t have spare money for Snoopy watches. 😁)

Makkacakka · 25/12/2023 14:19

An electric sit in car!

I was probably too old for them when they were first a thing though.

HoneyButterPopcorn · 25/12/2023 14:25

Re snoopy watches - maybe look on eBay?

@FeltCarrot I was 10 in 1976 and wanted a watch and was so disappointed to get a snoopy watch as I wanted a grown up watch!
It was only as an adult that I began to love it. I’ve gone through many watch straps over the years and I have other more expensive watches bought for milestone birthdays but it’s this watch that brightens up my day.
Buy your watch, I always smile when I use mine.
