A snoopy watch. Just seen that Timex have a range. Shall I put one on my list?
(I did get a timex watch, but it was plain blue and snoopyless).

A pony. I got mine at 30.

BCBird · 01/11/2023 08:31

A Soda Stream and one of those machines that dispensed Cadburys chocolate blocks🤣

I so badly wanted one of those Cadbury machines. DM just said "waste of money". Sigh.

GlobetrottingPercy · 01/11/2023 08:32

Also Mr Frosty and the Cadbury dispenser

Another one who wanted Mr Frosty. I was lucky enough to get the Cadbury Dispenser.

DeeCeeCherry · 01/11/2023 10:15

A dolls house. & a pretend kitchen.
Both with all the accessories.
I feel like buying myself one or the other now

Squirrelsnut · 01/11/2023 09:24

This.

I had that treehouse. I loved it so much. Such a great toy.

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 01/11/2023 10:17

Girls World, soda stream, Mr Frosty, Barbie.

Luckily my aunt got me a Sindy every year.

DeadButDelicious · 01/11/2023 10:19

My pet monster. I still want one. 😂

ny20005 · 01/11/2023 10:20

@Catswillbecats

Mines worse. My dad made an amazing dolls house for my oldest cousin. I loved it & asked for one for years. He never made me one as novelty had worn off when he made one.

How gutting to discover he'd made hers. She still has it & is in her 50's now

dudsville · 01/11/2023 10:23

A remote control car to race wth the kids on the street. I was a girl so I did not get this.nni like your watch op!

CallieQ · 01/11/2023 10:32

A rocking horse Confused

Catswillbecats · 01/11/2023 10:39

@ny20005 definitely worse. I do still think about it - it's a real standout disappointment of my childhood. Sounds Crazy I know. Looking back it was probably like your dad and the novelty wore off.
@FeltCarrot Buy the Snoopy watch - you deserve it!

MummyJ12 · 01/11/2023 10:41

I was absolutely desperate for a Bluebird A La Carte Kitchen.
I’m pretty sure the reason why I didn’t get one is that my mum and dad didn’t want me waking them up to a breakfast of Swiss roll and cold baked beans like on the advert! 😂

Catswillbecats · 01/11/2023 10:41

Also @ny20005 when my now grown up cousin had her dd I said how lovely that she could pass on the amazing dolls house. Apparently not as she dumped it when she went to universityAngry

Mochudubh · 01/11/2023 10:42

A Fisher-Price garage
Millenium Falcon

MummyJ12 · 01/11/2023 10:44

I’ve just seen this poster online!

Footprintsinthesand · 01/11/2023 10:54

The Jolly Postman book...guess what DS is getting for Christmas?

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 01/11/2023 10:56

Back in the early 70s there was a toy called Cake-a-Maker the advert showed the littke girls outting a sponge cake mix in a plastic oven, it comes out , they put icing and sprinkles on it and the delighted parent tuck in. I have NO clue how it performed its cakey magic , but I wasn't given one .

Other toys around
Shake-a-Maker - you make models , probably plaster of paris in moulds (didn't get one)

One that had resin that set , clear or coloured . You could layer it and put shells, egg timers , leaves , anything really , to be preserved in resin (except my plder sister used too much hardener to set it quickly , so half of the resin was useless )

The chocolate coins that formed then you wrapped in foil, it pressed the decorations in (didn't getone)

The Cadbury Dispenser (didn't get one)

Little yappy dog on a lead (didn't get one)

TheScottishPlay · 01/11/2023 10:59

Get the Snoopy watch!
I got a yellow Timex Snoopy watch with Snoopy playing tennis, with the ball as the minute hand from Santa. I loved it so much I got a Swatch Snoopy watch for my 50th birthday from DH and DS.

Lovemusic82 · 01/11/2023 11:00

Mr frosty
Tiny tears (my friend had one)
A pony 😬
millennium falcon (my brother had one and I wasn’t allowed to play with it).

FredaFox · 01/11/2023 11:26

Mr Frosty "it's cheap plastic & will break" then my cousin got one and made me more sad

Operation "you'll lose all the bits"

I did have the pale blue snoopy watch and still have it, it's ace, no sports bits just his arms going round

Justleaveitblankthen · 01/11/2023 11:59

Catswillbecats · 01/11/2023 09:07

A dolls house with lights in. My cousin had one made by my grandad and I never understood why he didn't make me one too- did he love her more?

Ah this is really sad 😟

My auntie bought me a dressing table brush and comb and handed it to me in a paper bag.
I was really pleased until a few weeks later I saw my cousin (my auntie's other niece) had been given a full box set with fancy hand mirror and a myriad of other beauty products.

Such a tiny thing, but you never forget.

StoatofDisarray · 01/11/2023 12:08

...James Burke to turn up and tell me he was my real dad and take me away to live a life full of wonder and learning.

I so badly wanted one of those Cadbury machines. DM just said "waste of money". Sigh.

We got the Cadbury machines one year but the chocolates were rationed by dm , I think I was about 6 or 7? Anyway I was furious about that so In the middle of the night managed to climb the shelf to get them, and used one 2pence that I clung to with my nails to totally empty both mine and db’s. Hid the wrappers and went back to bed. Of course I got totally found out 😂😂😂

The following year I asked for Mr frosty and lights alive. I didn’t get mr frosty and db got lights alive. I wasn’t very happy 😂

PricklyBob · 01/11/2023 12:38

The Barbie camper van. I coveted this so much, probably chatted about it throughout the year and asked for it every christmas but santa never delivered.

I've never had a good explanation either. My parents were definitely not above getting me overpriced plastic tat. I was given a Barbie house (fair enough, I loved that) but also a Barbie car, a dance studio and a style boutique which were all surprise gifts which I hadn't requested. Don't get me wrong, I played the hell out of them but even at a very young age, could not understand why my those arrived rather than the requested Barbie toy. When I was old enough to learn the truth about santa, I asked my mum who just shrugged and said it was a load of rubbish . Well, yes, but then why all the other stuff???

I remember there was once a fairly intact campervan in a charity shop near us - a little battered but seemed to have around 90% of the accessories and obviously much cheaper than new. Still though, my mum wouldn't buy it for me, despite me dragging her to the window to see it for weeks before it finally sold.

I'll go to my grave still disgrunteld and not understanding why I didn't get a Barbie campervan. I was so delighted to see it so faithfully recreated in the film though - definitely a classic of it's time.

Actually, I'm coveting an actual real life campervan now and my parents don't understand that either. Perhaps it was less about Barbie and more about not encouraging that way of life all along 😂

This.

I had one of those when I was little. My little brother broke it on boxing day and it would never close ever again 😄
