Curious to see how many presents people have under their tree.
I have two dcs and never think it looks enough, I just love to see their little faces light up in the morning.

This isn't a judgy thread I'm just genuinely curious.
Here's mine ours its just presents for 2 dc. Me and dp exchanged today.

I agree, I like these posts because I’m nosy!

Also, my theory about “working class” families exchanging loads of presents compared to more restraint shown by those who would be typically middle class is borne out by the photos shared on this thread in terms of home decor, real vs. fake tree, elegance of wrapping paper, language used (“hun”), etc. So it would seem that those who can probably least afford a stash of presents actually have the most. Possibly on credit. Merry Christmas! 🎄

Yikes, the class theory will keep this thread alight!

I love the bickering on mn at this time of year and @Weepachu has just taken it to another level.

Obviously being very middle class my children recieve an orange, a book and a hand knitted sweater from Grandmama.

OnTheRunWithMannyMontana · 24/12/2022 23:35

Nah. This is a horrible post. Designed to make the people struggling feel like shit looking at all of your twinkly sparkly present pile.

It's goady and a total show off.

It's my first time clicking on a thread like this. But what I DON'T understand is why you'd willingly look at it, just to call it materialistic and goady! Surely you'd just scroll on by ...
Anyway folks, happy Christmas to all - regardless of how many presents are sitting under your tree.

lifeofasd · 25/12/2022 05:00

@Weepachu wow, I don't think I have ever read a post from somebody who appears desperately bitter and unhappy. Genuinely, I hope you are not alone this Christmas, I hope you have loved ones around you. On Christmas Eve, nobody should be feeling like you..

harrassedmumto3 · 25/12/2022 05:01

And to the poster with the reverse snobbery 'working class' theory, hope your children enjoy their two secondhand presents and satsuma Wink

Cuppasoupmonster · 25/12/2022 04:31

On the fence about this one. Nobody has to click but it is a bit of a braggy thread thinly veiled as ‘interest’. Seems like parents just wanting to check they’ve outdone most of the others

Nope. I don’t have to try and out do anyone. I’m very comfortable in my own skin thank you.

SheenaShoemaker · 25/12/2022 05:09

I'm being nosy myself clicking on the thread title! If people have the money to spend, then why not! You never know what is going on behind closed doors. I tend to buy less, more smaller token presents, or second hand, and have done for years despite having a lot of disposable income. Its just what I choose to do, and my children are happy.

SheenaShoemaker · 25/12/2022 05:12

Is a real tree considered middle class?

KickHimInTheCrotch · 25/12/2022 05:14

I'm sure it is.

I always joke to the DC that I don't put lights outside because it's "common" but they know it's because I'm skint and lazy.

hattie43 · 25/12/2022 05:31

I've loved this thread , seeing everyone trees , gifts and decor has been magical .
As for the rest I just don't understand people pouring scorn on a thread on behalf of others who doubtless won't even see it much less care .Disparity in income is a fact of life . Are we to believe those moaning are only giving a satsuma and chocolate orange in solidarity with those that can't afford much . Are they having a Christmas dinner of a tin of beans in solidarity with those who can't afford turkey or even better have they thrown their doors open to welcome the less fortunate. Thought not , just easier to spout faux outrage on a forum .

bingobanjo · 25/12/2022 04:41

😂😂😂😂😂 imagine people enjoying seeing pictures of strangers’ presents and feeling Christmassy looking at them!! What a ridiculous notion! 😂😂😂😂😂

Oh wait, that’s literally half the replies on this thread mate.

Surely the same principle applies to lookin at someone's post and being upset or offended though

headstone · 25/12/2022 05:45

I’m enjoying all these pictures, the modest ones and the spectacular ones! We’re not doing it this year. I do have some presents for the kids but will only get them out if they actually really demand them otherwise I’ll keep them for Eid. I’m also about to go to work an extra 😒 . Merry Xmas everyone.

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 25/12/2022 05:51

Christ, talk about overconsumption and bragging about it.

Fcuk38 · 25/12/2022 05:56

Crass.

Fedup777778888 · 25/12/2022 06:00

The title of the thread says it all

Gracie65 · 25/12/2022 06:24

Absolutely love this thread. Really enjoying the pics. Especially spot the cat. Have a wonderful Christmas everyone 🤗

MargotChateau · 25/12/2022 06:31

@OnTheRunWithMannyMontana it isn’t designed to make people who are struggling to feel shit at all. The title is clear, if people don’t want to see they don’t need to click read.

We have zero presents under our tree as I’m about to take unpaid Maternity leave, but our tree is festooned with handmade decorations and we have a nativity set set up that’s very special to our family, and we are very excited for a day of eating and watching films (Die Hard etc).

I’ve enjoyed (especially as an immigrant) having a peek inside other people’s homes. It doesn’t make me feel jealous at all. Please don’t squash joy.

Cosmicdreams · 25/12/2022 06:38

Ds 1st Christmas so my family have absolutely spoiled him. He's the only child in my family. X

@CanStopWillStop Guess we're on the naughty list...

😂😂

ClarathecrosseyedLioness · 25/12/2022 06:50

Not much going on here.
The cat has opened their present.
DH & I have exchanged and other family members can't visit because of covid/no trains/no dosh/flooding etc. We'll be meeting up in the New Year.

These are just for our two teens - DH’s presents haven’t arrived yet thanks to Evri’s incompetence and he’s gotten me vouchers.

Such beautiful wrapping and paper ❤️

Worriedmama23 · 24/12/2022 23:39

You sound a bitter hun, go and be mardy elsewhere Scrooge hun

Jesus, that grammar is worse than the show off pictures on here.

SpicedAutumnPumpkin · 25/12/2022 07:04

I think life is not black or white. People are probably struggling more than ever this year so yes it is important to always keep that in mind especially when teaching your children that Christmas is nor just gifts. However, it is still nice to have something under the tree. This year husband and I decided not to get each other anything except for warm slippers. Our boys (6 and 3) got things like Marble run, playmobile sets, some crafts and a musical instrument. We never go over the top because that is not what Christmas is about for us.

DailyMailReporterTellMeAllYourSecrets · 25/12/2022 07:09

No. Buying more for people doesn’t equate to loving them more. I hate these sorts of threads.
