Curious to see how many presents people have under their tree.
I have two dcs and never think it looks enough, I just love to see their little faces light up in the morning.

This isn't a judgy thread I'm just genuinely curious.
Here's mine ours its just presents for 2 dc. Me and dp exchanged today.

Love all the cats popping up in photos. Santa not been here yet as I’m finishing my baileys first. But my cat says Merry Christmas.

Love your gorgeous tree 🌲 decorations( and the cat)

HollyFern1110 · 25/12/2022 02:21

I'm also loving all the cats guarding gifts 😄.

I haven't taken a photo my my two girls are also lying in front of the presents.

kateandme · 25/12/2022 02:24

I'm most interested in the interior design and what snacks I can see!

Notatallanamechange · 25/12/2022 02:27

I do not judge people for spending on their family. We all have different incomes. I judge those that have to share a picture of the great pile of presents for some form of validation, more this year than ever.

What possible personal gain do you get from showing off, if even one person is made to feel shitty? Genuinely, I just don’t get it. The poster going on about her daughter having a shit year. I’m so glad your daughter has something to look forward to today, deserved after a horrible time. But what benefit does it have showing off on the internet? After a shitty year I’d feel dreadful that someone’s bragging will have caused someone else to feel dreadful.

bingobanjo · 25/12/2022 02:41

Christ some people are miserable aren’t they. If you don’t like looking at pictures of present piles or want to show yours, why would you click on the thread? The title certainly isn’t misleading enough to make you open it by mistake.

Thanks to everyone who shared, I really enjoyed all the pictures ☺️

Glad im not waking up in your home @Notatallanamechange.

maybe the poster didn’t come for validation, maybe she responded to the title of the first post? As did the others that have taken part - lovely to see so many beautiful trees and hopefully happy Christmas mornings. Can’t you just scroll on by if it was going to bother you?

maybe some people have worked thier arses off over many years, have had a terrible year to date or just have the means to be able to give their kids what they want them to have? Perhaps they aren’t looking for validation and are just a little bit proud of themselves- and are responding to a thread title because they want to, and aren’t seeking validation from anyone, especially you?

@Worriedmama23 I think it’s lovely that you have been able to spoil your daughter- I hope you both have a lovely day tomorrow and for many more Christmas’s to come!

ChestnutsOpenFire · 25/12/2022 02:43

I think people have, for years, enjoyed sharing their Christmas prep (trees, wrapping, cooking etc) on social media to share the joy of Christmas. It’s worth remembering that everyone has different budgets/priorities and some don’t even celebrate Christmas at all (e.g when I was living abroad it was a normal working day for all as a completely non Christian country).

However I’ve noticed this year that no one on my social media feeds has posted photos. I think this is well judged given the cost of living crisis. That said, mumsnet is an anonymous forum with a clear thread title so people can join in for fun or scroll past.

It seems unfair to judge those wishing to share some joy anonymously.

pollyglot · 25/12/2022 02:44

Already opened mine. It's late afternoon here. DH is brilliant at picking just the right thing. Gorgeous silk scarf...

ChestnutsOpenFire · 25/12/2022 02:47

@pollyglot that is incredibly pretty! I’m sure you’ll look stunning wearing it - Merry Christmas!

MzLucky · 25/12/2022 02:47

Oh @pollyglot that scarf is gorgeous 😍

pollyglot · 25/12/2022 02:53

Thank you for your lovely messages! He always takes so much care...he's a sweetheart. Merry Christmas to all of you too! x

Unifolorn · 25/12/2022 02:58

For fuck sake for those offered or offended on behalf of others just scroll by, even better log off of the Internet and go be miserable somewhere else. It seems no one is allowed to post anything nice anymore for fear of offending someone.

gamerchick · 25/12/2022 03:08

Some whingy buggers on here tonight isn't there?

Dry up ffs. Faux outrage on behalf of other people is highly irritating. Just don't read it.🙄

Santa piles and family presents under the tree!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas!!

Poor dog. 🦴
And that's before tomorrows lunch!

Namechangepleas · 25/12/2022 00:14

Mine might look more but it is just the way it's positioned going across the rug instead of under the tree fully. Each dc had about £100 spent on them, most of it is books and teddies.

I dont think any of these photos are braggy. They all look perfect.
Merry christmas! Enjoy your day everyone.

Don’t ever feel the need to justify you’re spending to anyone except your accountant or bank manager 😉

I think we perhaps get as much pleasure out of doing this as much as you get pleasure out of being a paragon of something or another. ‘

I agree, I like these posts because I’m nosy!

Also, my theory about “working class” families exchanging loads of presents compared to more restraint shown by those who would be typically middle class is borne out by the photos shared on this thread in terms of home decor, real vs. fake tree, elegance of wrapping paper, language used (“hun”), etc. So it would seem that those who can probably least afford a stash of presents actually have the most. Possibly on credit. Merry Christmas! 🎄

Then maybe don’t open a thread that’s called “show me your present pile” if you don’t want to see piles of presents. This thread does exactly what it says on the tin. If you think pictures of piles of presents are in poor taste/inappropriate/goady then maybe, just maybe, you shouldn’t open it. No one’s forcing you to, after all.

Tropicaliyes · 25/12/2022 04:20

I don’t celebrate Christmas so no tree or presents but I’m absolutely loving looking at all you guys trees and present stacks! Some good memories! Hope everyone has a great Christmas today! 🎉

Cuppasoupmonster · 25/12/2022 04:31

On the fence about this one. Nobody has to click but it is a bit of a braggy thread thinly veiled as ‘interest’. Seems like parents just wanting to check they’ve outdone most of the others

Cuppasoupmonster · 25/12/2022 04:33

A photo of someone else’s presents shares the ‘joy of Christmas’? 😂

Pianofar · 25/12/2022 04:40

The title of the thread is perfectly clear, I hate the emergent notion that people can't post stuff like this in case someone is upset. Sure if someone started a thread about struggling and saying they couldn't afford presents and people started posting theirs then that's disgusting, but it's not the case here.

😂😂😂😂😂 imagine people enjoying seeing pictures of strangers’ presents and feeling Christmassy looking at them!! What a ridiculous notion! 😂😂😂😂😂

Oh wait, that’s literally half the replies on this thread mate.
