Curious to see how many presents people have under their tree.
I have two dcs and never think it looks enough, I just love to see their little faces light up in the morning.

This isn't a judgy thread I'm just genuinely curious.

I don’t even celebrate Christmas and I don’t see anything wrong with people posting their trees and/or presents. It’s unfortunate that some people will have less this year but that doesn’t mean that people shouldn’t post their pics. The thread title was really clear so not sure why people are clicking on it just to complain

ItsBritneyBitch45 · 25/12/2022 12:48

ShornTheSheeep · 24/12/2022 23:45

Are we only allowed posts from poor people then? Is that what we are saying?

The thread title is clear.

Literally😂

And Happy Birthday!

Thank you! :)

I do not judge people for spending on their family. We all have different incomes. I judge those that have to share a picture of the great pile of presents for some form of validation, more this year than ever.

What possible personal gain do you get from showing off, if even one person is made to feel shitty? Genuinely, I just don’t get it. The poster going on about her daughter having a shit year. I’m so glad your daughter has something to look forward to today, deserved after a horrible time. But what benefit does it have showing off on the internet? After a shitty year I’d feel dreadful that someone’s bragging will have caused someone else to feel dreadful.

Yawn. She posted it because the OP asked, to have a nose. I'm on the thread looking because I like a little nose as well. I love trees and decor and presents, and scrolling the different ones bring me joy.

This is grotesque.

This ^ is hyperbole.

It's a lovely thread.

What a crappy distasteful post 🎅

You should all be very jealous of my tree. A lot of time and effort went into that 😂 Also three of them gifts are for the dog. Priorities.

🤣🤣🤣 I love this tree

TheWeeDonkeyFella · 25/12/2022 13:01

I'm home alone this Christmas but I've enjoyed seeing everyone's presents under trees and especially the cats and dogs joining in - lovely. Most posts have brought back happy memories of past years. Xmas Smile

As for the unpleasant comments, the bitterness shown is sad really. Just scroll by if the thread isn't for you.

Why does it being anonymous make it any different? People still have eyes and still will make comparisons. People will still feel guilty at not having enough for their children. It’s completely crass. No one is saying ‘no one have any joy’, what a daft comment. If people saying they find it crass to share present pile pictures would remove any person’s ‘Christmas Joy’ then they should definitely reevaluate their attitude to consumerism, greed, social media and their need to brag. That would actually be incredibly sad, so much of the day being tied up in showing off to people on an ‘anonymous forum’.

On this entire thread, all I've seen are those saying 'people who can't afford will feel bad' yet I haven't actually seen anyone who can't afford it say they feel bad. Everyone commenting that they haven't got any/many presents (myself included) are saying they're enjoying it. So please just 🤐 it's embarrassing

ipreferthecat · 25/12/2022 13:10

@Celeste777

I hope there is a catnip treat for that good boy examining the presents 😂

TheYearOfSmallThings · 25/12/2022 13:13

Also, my theory about “working class” families exchanging loads of presents compared to more restraint shown by those who would be typically middle class is borne out by the photos shared on this thread in terms of home decor, real vs. fake tree, elegance of wrapping paper, language used (“hun”), etc. So it would seem that those who can probably least afford a stash of presents actually have the most. Possibly on credit. Merry Christmas! 🎄

As you were typing that, and deciding to go ahead an post it, did you not think "Wait, what am I doing, I sound like SUCH a dick?"

Figgypudding123 · 25/12/2022 13:18

Not sharing my present pile. Have bought within my means and DS is happy. Feels the magic of Christmas and feels loved. That's all that is important. Comparison is the thief of joy.

My tree last year was a beautiful real one with years worth of gorgeous glass ornaments. This year it's artificial and covered in tinsel and cheap purple decorations as I have a baby and a toddler in the house. My partner has 2 impeccably (if I do say so myself) wrapped presents in tasteful paper. My kids have half a mountain of presents in paw patrol and pepper pig paper. It cost a fair bit but it's all paid for and nothing on credit. So at this point I'm genuinely confused as to whether I'm working class or middle class 🤷‍♀️

Insertdeadcatsnamehere · 25/12/2022 13:25

I clicked on this as it's lovely to see other people's trees, rooms, presents, generally how they do things...

I REALLY underestimated the mumsnet competitive sanctimony though!

birder · 25/12/2022 13:26

I've got the virus thingy that's going round, too unwell to do a tree this year. This thread has really cheered me up, couldn't care less if people are showing off, they've done their best for their loved ones and put some real effort in. Xmas Smile

Nice they took advantage of the free WiFi at Wetherspoons, just to spread that bit of joy 😂

Purplepuddle · 25/12/2022 13:35

Why is being working class shamed so much???

Omg you get your money by working for it, how working class.

Salti · 25/12/2022 13:40

I am also nosey and would never share on Fb! 3 young children = lots. From us and grandparents. They were so happy this morning, and grateful, it was lovely 🥰

I agree, surely most of the population are working class 🤔?

mondaytosunday · 25/12/2022 14:05

Just me and two order teens. I wrap everything- from the telescope on the left to a tin of Oreos! I like the look of plenty of presents but now they really get one big and a few little, or two medium and a bunch of little ones and no presents from outside the family.

No he culdnt fit it on the sleigh!!

Sidking · 25/12/2022 15:19

This is ours :) it doesn't go all the way around behind the tree, and the ones directly under the front are big bulky ones that pad it out nicely 😂
