Is your tree up?

OP posts:
LadyMonicaBaddingham · 25/11/2022 19:36

Yes, up in the attic where it belongs BECAUSE IT'S STILL BLOODY NOVEMBER

LindorDoubleChoc · 25/11/2022 19:31

Do the hardcore "not until Christmas Eve" types judge those of us who go for mid-December I wonder?

No judging from me enjoy your trees just because I’m going old fashioned not everyone has too.

Mine went up today!

Beautiful especially the garlands.

Why are you shouting?

wickerhearth · 25/11/2022 19:42

Yes, we have small one in the dining room, the main gonna be in living room and there's still time.

UWhatNow · 25/11/2022 19:54

“For everybody going: "NO!! + sarcastic elaboration", chill the fuck out.”

I think you’ll find that it’s those with the pathological need to put Christmas decorations up when it’s not Christmas that need to take your advice. Us not-yet types are not actually that arsed.

TulipTuesday · 25/11/2022 20:09

@Goingfortheblue @Always4Brenner
Thank you ☺️

For a long time I had different colours on my tree but for the last few years I’ve stuck with traditional and I love it!

The garland and the big bushy tree were 2 of the things I bought with money my mum left after she died. She loved a well decorated tree so I always think of her when it’s up.

AlwaysGinPlease · 25/11/2022 20:22

I love seeing them up. For goodness sake if it brings people happiness in the currently awful situation a lot of people are in ,then leave them alone. Ours is usually up on December 1st but we will be away so I'm putting it up tomorrow or Sunday because I want it up for when we get back.

PurpleButterflyWings · 25/11/2022 20:30

No. Too early at the moment. Me and DH are doing it next Wednesday. Both off work Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Got a shit load of lights to put on the trees and bushes outside, and over the front of the house/down the side of the house, and around the garage etc. Then there's the tree inside, and all the decorations inside too. Takes 2-3 days from start to finish but looks lovely when it's done. All the lights will be switched on next Friday 2nd December. Will all come down Tuesday 3rd January 2023.

Not me. I think mid December is perfectly reasonable, even earlier with little kids, but we are at an age where we pay lip service to Christmas, other than spending the day itself at my daughter 2 hours drive away.

Rupertgrintismyguiltypleasure · 25/11/2022 22:53

Yep and will stay up until 6th January 😛

Bluebonnet3 · 25/11/2022 23:08

My tree was delivered today, and we will set it up and decorate this weekend. In the US it's pretty standard to set up the tree the day after Thanksgiving (which is today, and I'm an expat).

I'm being induced either next week or the week after, and I don't know if we'll get another chance. We might not do anything else particularly festive this year, what with our first newborn to look after. What a Christmas!

echt · 26/11/2022 07:47

The tree goes up on Christmas Eve and down on the Epiphany.

PixiesFeet · 26/11/2022 09:45

Honestly why do people care if others put Christmas trees up at the end of November or Christmas eve?

Each to their own, you do you. And tbh others saying its not the right time to do it etc are bat shit and way over invested in strangers lives.

RobinRobinMouse · 27/11/2022 13:54

We put ours up this morning in the end, we've all been ill and tired out so it was a nice cheery activity. They make our home look so welcoming and cosy, I'm really pleased we did them.

snowmanshoes · 27/11/2022 14:38

Not yet but think I’m going to do it on Wednesday so it’s up for the 1st and advent calendars …. Also I’ve got bloody MTD to do for 7th so coming up with every excuse in the book to not make a start on the VAT 😁

RedToothBrush · 27/11/2022 14:39

Tree is up.

However its not decorated as we appear to have lost the lights.

I am not a happy bunny.

AlwaysFullOfQuestions22 · 27/11/2022 14:48

Mine will be later.
I have literally 1 morning free between now and Xmas and thats on 20th dec (without work, school plays, pre school plays, 3 parents eve on different days, seeing santa, etc etc.)
And one morning is not enough time and the dcs will be here. They've done their bedroom ones today.

This afternoon early dinner, baths bed. Then a late night me dh and eldest sorting decs

lovenotwar149 · 27/11/2022 14:50

I'll put mine up in next weekend most probably

alfagirl73 · 27/11/2022 14:56

Mine is up and looking fab! I'm enjoying it.

TangledWebofMincemeatDeception · 27/11/2022 14:58

Would love to see photos!

fluffiphlox · 27/11/2022 15:02

No.
It’s not being delivered until the 8th December.

I’m in the Canaries until tomorrow. Ha! (I’d be happy to stay here and sod the festive season.).

plaide · 27/11/2022 15:10

No I've not got a tree yet, will get a real one in a couple of weeks.

I did see a fair few outside lights and decorations on my way home last night in the dark. They looked lovely.

ScornedChicken · 27/11/2022 15:11

TangledWebofMincemeatDeception · 27/11/2022 14:58

I like seeing what everyone else's Christmas decorations and trees look like. I'm so nosey!
@alfagirl73 good for you.

Mine is assembled (would love to do real tree but too much hassle) but not decorated yet. The children will do a fantastic job of trimming it up. The youngest will be placing lots of baubles in one little area and our artistic eldest will be having a meltdown because it looks lopsided. Fun.

TrashyPanda · 25/11/2022 10:16

No

because it’s November.

my rule of thumb is that you shouldn’t have decorations up for so long that you have to dust them. Why give yourself extra work?

People on Mumsnet dust about 20 times a day though.
