Thread 9 - the one with stocking fingers

@6poundshower thanks for the title. A stocking finger sounds far too small to fit many bargains in though! 🤣

Apologies for belatedly setting this up - was at a primary tour for potential school for ds and then working. Pesky RL! Hope you can all find me.

I downloaded the JL app aaaannndddd..... got nothing.

EvilHerbivore · 03/11/2022 22:52

Oooh I got 50% off kits at smashed grapes (LCPU01550) but if anyone remembers the code for the free wine and cheese kit, I'd be super grateful?

LindseyHoyleSpeaks · 03/11/2022 23:00

Thanks for the Spicery tips - just ordered gift boxes that were on offer and got the extra 10% off and free shipping.

Twinningaround · 03/11/2022 23:05

Did anyone input a December date for the cheese and wine tasting kit, I’m wondering if this will make it more likely to be in date for a Christmas gift

PotDoll · 03/11/2022 23:07

Thanks for the smashed grape link, looks great 👍🏻

PotDoll · 03/11/2022 23:15

This was cheese and wine code, don’t know if they’re unique @EvilHerbivore

LunaCrystal · 03/11/2022 23:26

Re The Spicery what’s the difference between the Curry legend kit and the chefs specials kit please? Which is better? Thanks

Free Malbec tasting kit code for Smashed Grapes. Lovely stocking filler for DH

Chocolateteabag · 03/11/2022 23:40

Hi I have a 20% off Sainsburys Tu if anyone can make use of it? Valid to 13th of Nov
It's one time use so first to DM me?

BusyB stationary 20% off with ENJOY20

And COS have 20% off with WINTER20

HoHoFuckingHo · 03/11/2022 23:41

FYI the tasting kits all come with a £10 voucher in them which is a bottle of wine on there, so for a future order effectively makes the delivery free I think if I have worked it out right and depending on ts and cs.

If that's so pretty good bargain for £3.99 and the equivalent of a bottle of Malbec 👍🏻

HoHoJ0 · 03/11/2022 23:44

Ah thank you so much @LuckyTigress Ive used your code after I spun “better luck next time”.

Optimalprint have 65% OFF all products until Sunday. I’m debating getting decorations and Christmas jumpers out to order thank you cards now! Code: BLACK65

Chocolateteabag · 03/11/2022 23:51

I got the 50% off code but then tried the cheese and wine code posted above but with the wine and charcuterie kit and it worked! It kicked out the 50% code and charged me £3.99
Will keep fingers crossed I get the box I ordered but cheese and wine for £4 is worth a gamble?

  • the person looking for a bike in Halfords - have you considered getting one second hand? First bikes can often be pretty much immaculate as so many children grow before they get the hang of it. Both my DC had second hand bikes for their first bikes as these were given as their main Christmas present. Your child is likely to learn to ride much sooner on a second hand Frog or Isla bike than a brand new one from Halfords.
  • the person looking for Clarins - I have to buy a Clarins gift set every year. The best deal is usually direct from them on Black Friday when they do a 20% discount but also throw in various free gifts which I might keep for myself

I'm envious of the freebies on the JL app. I have a discount on Strathberry bags which I have been lusting after a while. The discount means I'll probably be asking for one this Christmas

@SpottyBumPony Not entirely sure but after had gone through checkout at asda yesterday, they had a selection of large (? 12-14") sqishmallows. Looked like one of them was the yellow one. Didn't see the price either sorry(!) But might be worth a look if you're near an asda. Several other types 2 but couldn't say which amd don't seem to be on the website so might be a special.

Ones I saw in asda were about £25 for the big ones or £30 for Disney big ones. Approx same size as my 2 year old though and vacuum packed options.

Confusedmeanderings · 04/11/2022 02:06

@WhichWitchIsTheWitch thank you for the advice on BIR recipe books. Thats a small present for DH sorted!

TheBigFish · 04/11/2022 05:46

@LunaCrystal I don't know the difference but the Chef's Specials is the brand new one only just released. It comes presented in a fancier way (tin compared to the legends which is in a box) but haven't used it yet as they are gifts. I bought the Chef's Specials as gifts based on the fact we love the curry legend so much, used at least once weekly. We also have the taco and mezze sets too. What we like about them all is we easily make meals that would take tonnes of ingredients otherwise. You can also easily adapt them to be a bit healthier by using less oil than they state etc and we try and eat veggie in the week and they are all easily adaptable like that too. Promise I don't work for them!

Theraffarian · 04/11/2022 06:04

the smashed grapes code ( which works on any tasting kit if you have the free wine and cheese code) , says the wine stays fresh in the pouches for up to 6 weeks . I don’t drink wine but wanted to gift , that seems a very short date , but I’m assuming because it’s been decanted into the pouches , I wonder what the optimum ordering time would be as no good ordering yet for Christmas.

Theraffarian · 04/11/2022 06:10

Oh ignore me , the calendar wouldn’t move to December deliver to start with , just ordered for the week before Christmas, many thanks

dizzygirl1 · 04/11/2022 06:31

@Theraffarian where did you get the delivery date? Before you or after you paid? I'm about to pay but haven't been asked for a date

Squirrelvillage · 04/11/2022 06:35

Delivery date is after you've added the item to your basket, at the top of the page

dizzygirl1 · 04/11/2022 06:38

I'm so so behind in Christmas shopping, normally I'm done or almost done by now, but had a rough time and just too exhausted to have the mental capacity to think about Christmas.
I've got nothing.... I have DD15 and DS13 neither have given great ideas but what they have given is a but expensive.
DD- Pandora disney, converse high tops, urban outfitters, gym shark,
Ds - Tokyo lego (about to go into retirement), jurassic lego, F1 hat, rubber duck (I can do that 😉), gym stuff too
My parents - just bought the spicery, looking at the cheese and wine if I can sort the dates. Something garden and probably warm socks but diabetic ones for DF.
Ex DH - from the kids....no idea

And I'd like to treat myself to some perfume as I've completely run out.

Any ideas or help.... thank you! Sorry

recklessgran · 04/11/2022 06:44

You're amazing thank you. I completely missed it, started new tablets last night and I've not slept a wink.
Cheese and wine tasting kit ordered for 19th December to be delivered direct to them.

Fueledwithfairydustandgin · 04/11/2022 06:57

DS8 has asked for an x box for Christmas. I know absolutely nothing about technology so don’t know what to get. I know he wants to be able to play with his friends online(?) I think and they have series S if that makes a difference? He isn’t bothered about the model but I don’t want to buy one that we can’t get the games he wants for. Also are there any nice bits that would go along with an x box that he’d like?
sorry for all the questions but technology is just not my thing. We’ve been putting off buying anything but he’s feeling left out at school.
To try and be slightly helpful myself I can answer any horse related gift questions if that helps anyone

Person looking for the first bike was me! I am on the look out for a second hand Isla or frog but haven't come across anything suitable yet - I do want fairly good condition as it's a gift and it'll be passed down to younger sibling and then hopefully sold on again. The Halfords one is my backup if I can't get a second hand one, it's the carrera cosmo which obviously not as good but looks ok for the price.
