I am in dire need of inspiration! 🙌

OP posts:
tresleches · 20/10/2022 23:07

An old (as in 1980s) maritime map of a section of coast his family is from, with sea depths and harbours marked on it (fishing background)

Probably another gardening tool from Niwaki - if anyone's partner is a gardener and they don't have a hori hori yet, get them one

Crappydoo · 20/10/2022 23:09

This thread is genius thank you! Have just got masses of inspiration for impossible to buy for partner. Thank you!!

Defiantlynot41 · 20/10/2022 23:17

@Bookaholic73 coffee subscription? I particularly like the Columbia Coffee Roasters in Oxford, lovely coffee www.colombiacoffeeroasters.co.uk/collections/subscriptions

They also stock artisan chocolates, hot chocolate, coffee grinders etc

DifficultBloodyWoman · 20/10/2022 23:20

DH is on a diet and doesn’t drink. That makes present buying more challenging than usual. My ideas so far:

mushroom growing kit
AirTags
coffee grinder
book about cars

Weatherwax13 · 20/10/2022 23:41

@tresleches brilliant suggestion. Just googled and ordered one for DH. Had never heard of them so thankyou!

Equiphant · 21/10/2022 00:20

@JamMakingWannaBe ooh, didn’t know about heated coasters - do you recommend yours?

Moro93 · 21/10/2022 01:50

I like the idea of a heated coaster for myself!

My dh and I have stuff we get each other as standard every year to add to our collections. This includes
An album on vinyl
A pop funko
Lego (usually technic for him and HP for me)
Rugby shirt (for him)
Books (for me)

I'm not sure I'll be able to afford anything out of the standard this year but I'll list some ideas I've had and some things I've got in the past

Clothes (band t-shirt, shoes etc)
Headphones
Rugby tickets
Gig tickets
Video games
Framed song lyrics of his fav song
Foot spa
Books
Engraved zippo lighter (when he used to smoke)
Aftershave
Graphic novels
Jewellery
Electric shavers
A guitar (I also done a treasure hunt for him to find this)
An old game boy with a Pokemon game
A model of his favourite car
Ukelele
Hotel night

There is a lot more but I'm struggling to think right now!

I'll list what's going in his stocking this year plus some past hits

Haggis crisps
White hot chocolate
Skittles (varied flavours)
Other sweets
Scratchcards
Beard oil/balm
Beard comb
Toiletries
Tickets to a rubbish metal band he likes
Boxers
Socks
Guitar picks
Guitar strap
Guitar chord book
Mini rugby ball
Mini lego set
New wallet
Keyrings (lego star wars one)
Star wars joke book
Portable charger
Headphone holder
Gift cards (xbox, restaurants he likes, cinema, Google play etc)
Magazine (classic rock or something similar)

A lot of these things are depending on interests/taste but hopefully it provides some ideas or helps you think of other things.

Moro93 · 21/10/2022 01:54

Oh and whiskey (full size as a gift, miniature for stocking).

Last year I got him one of those cameo videos of the lead singer of his favourite band. I asked him to say Merry Christmas from me and the kids, ask him to renew our vows and sing a snippet of his favourite song. I showed him the video on Christmas Eve and he loved it so much he actually had tears in his eyes.

YuliaJollyberry · 21/10/2022 05:55

His stocking will be stuffed with:
Candy cane.
Chocolate festive shape, old fashioned foil wrapped Santa this year.
Christmas cheer - bottle of cider or a can of silly named beer, will see what I come across.
A candy whistle.
Sugar mouse.
Tube of sweets or crisps.
Old Taylor’s Bond Street body wash.
Old spice deodorant.
Tye dye socks.
Small box of chocolate dinosaurs.
1 crack open your own geode.
Small notebook looks like aged leather, is very nice for a pound.
Beard balm.
Pro barber face putty mask.
Bar of soap cognac and vanilla scented.
Small metal puzzle.
1 small choc coin.
Jar of humbugs.
Champagne stopper.
Lots of nuts in shells to fill the gaps
Satsuma or mandarin in the toe.

Under the tree:
A 1st edition old book on one of his favourite subjects.
1 bottle of something vintage/aged maybe port, possibly wine.
An old fashioned cocktail making set I’ll assemble in a box with vintage crystal tumblers from charity shop, cheap whiskey, bitters and sugar cubes.
Espa anti ageing skincare (bought in a sale and got a nice freebie gift for me).
A couple of books on the history of his various interested in subjects.
Nice biscuits, possibly Fortnum's Sir Nigel’s vintage marmalade shortbread unless I see something different.
Poetry for Neanderthals game.
Excavate a shark tooth Nat geo thingy.
A funny sign/plaque, homemade.
An old box filled with lots of choc money, loads of haribo ring sweets, every flavour sweet laces, cola and fizzy cola bottles and a couple candy necklace /watches.

MasterPretender · 21/10/2022 07:32

An annual New York Times digital subscription so far.

JennyForeigner · 21/10/2022 07:35

Bookaholic73 · 20/10/2022 17:41

I have no idea. He adores coffee, so I’m trying to come up with something coffee related. Not a coffee machine, as he already has one.

any suggestions welcome.

Pact subscription/ advent calendar?

Lcb123 · 21/10/2022 07:42

We’re spitting a spa weekend, neither of us need any more stuff

Lcb123 · 21/10/2022 07:43

*splitting!

AnotherCountryMummy · 21/10/2022 07:55

Samsung Galaxy watch
Book from our son

Not much else as we've decided to go low key on presents to each other this year.

gogohmm · 21/10/2022 08:00

Absolutely no idea. A fireproof safe maybe as our mortgage is due to be paid off on the 16th December.

Trumpton · 21/10/2022 08:23

@Mrsfussypants1
Oh well done on the heated Ororo gilet. I have ordered one for DH who has an under active thyroid and is always cold.
I have also ordered a wooden ruler height chart that I will transfer dgc heights onto as we need to paint kitchen soon and the heights are written on the wall.

averythinline · 21/10/2022 08:42

DH likes useful/consumable...we sre hoping to go away so that will be main joint present....other things seen a few on here....

uk.buymeonce.com/blogs/articles-tips/long-lasting-gifts-under-50

Steel clothes pegs he always moans about others snapping...

Definitely fancy socks as DS steals his now same size.....

He really wants a specific type of jumper ....but we seem to have wool moths so need to sort that....

Otherwise jeans/top from community clothing ..
Fancy coffee and shortbread...
Tickets for a play

If anyone looking for a foodie highly recommend the Peugeot peppermill...

dementedma · 21/10/2022 08:53

God knows. He does nothing but watch football and drink beer and has no other interests. A sweatshirt so far and thats about it

AdoraBell · 21/10/2022 11:23

Mine is bloody difficult to buy for. He’s seen a sweater he likes so I’ll get that for him. A local venue, car related, have desk diary’s on offer so I think I’ll get one of those. Also, he needs more hankerchiefs.

JamMakingWannaBe · 21/10/2022 16:53

Equiphant · 21/10/2022 00:20

@JamMakingWannaBe ooh, didn’t know about heated coasters - do you recommend yours?

Absolutely!
It's this one (like this one).

amzn.eu/d/ddHASuB

I'd recommend one with a plug rather than a USB. Mine keeps a very large mug warm. Don't leave it on full power with an inch of tea at the bottom of your mug - it will be boiling!

The heat transfer to the mug also useful for warming cold hands when WFH.

NoNamesLeft234678 · 21/10/2022 18:16

He wants a camera bag so I'll be getting him that as his main present and I've got him a camera themed travel mug, slippers and some sweets so far. I've also got some pjs and a bath bomb for his Christmas eve box and a puzzle, dry shampoo, a bath bomb and some sweets for his stocking. There's still a few more things I want to get him but I need to see what I can afford next month..

misskatamari · 21/10/2022 18:32

@IsthatfreedomIsee ive made this Deku from my hero academia (Altho I’ve done different hair, I’ve done strands and am brushing them out to hopefully make cool spikey hair). I’m going to do Todoroki and Bakugo for Christmas Hopefilly www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/izuku-midoriya---deku-my-hero-academia if you have any favorite shows, if you search crochet *show name/character and amigurumi you should hopefully find something suitable

GettingStuffed · 23/10/2022 09:26

The beer glass pasta is from Lidl

IsthatfreedomIsee · 23/10/2022 12:34

@misskatamari thanks for that. 😊 this is auch a brilliant idea.

BallyAllyBuzzyBee · 23/10/2022 12:44

CoffeeChocolateWine · 20/10/2022 17:21

Whisky is always a given (as Baileys is for me!)
Spicery Legend kit - bought him the curry one last year for his birthday and he loved it so much he bought it for the rest of his family for last Christmas! Can't decide between taco or mezze this time...
Books
Also vaguely considering the Lazy Man pan - thinking it might be a good addition to our camping supplies.
We're also buying a new coffee machine so that's kind of a joint gift to each other!

I can 100% recommend the mezze legend kit. I have them all and the mezze is my most favourite and used kit.
