I am in dire need of inspiration! 🙌

OP posts:
Redup · 26/10/2022 23:58

Nothing. We haven't done christmas for years, thank god.

Willygogs · 27/10/2022 00:33

Something for the house that we both want. Joint gift from me to him and him to me.

bells2810 · 27/10/2022 11:33

A massage gun
Birkenstocks
Boxers and socks
Fujifilm instax mini
New dressing gown
His favourite aftershave

We did say we’re going to do stockings too but I think I’ll just pop little bits like chocolates and then shaving stuff/new razor/moisturiser etc in there! We are trying to cut back on spending this year but somehow I’ve still got quite a long list for him!

KittenCatt · 01/11/2022 21:17

My partner’s main gift is an Ashes to Glass necklace. For her stocking, I’ve got her some of her favourite chocolate, a set of stackable Star Wars mugs, shower gel, her favourite moisturiser,

a notepad and pens.

Mapanas · 01/11/2022 21:53

Arghhh the men in my life are the hardest to buy for!
I have just bought my father and DH a car cleaning gift kit from Laysons.co.uk
They are options at £35 & £50 and have arrived looking very smart. Am feeling pretty smug to have 2 people crossed off the list! Now to think of an idea for my SIL….

Sn0tnose · 01/11/2022 22:05

So far, three hoodies, a couple of pairs of shorts, AU Vodka, a rugby ball (the only thing he asked for), golf balls and Swedish Fish sweets. We both went a bit mad last year, so neither of us can think of much we want.

I’ll probably get him some beard products, bath bombs and some sort of kitchen gadget, which he will be very excited about. He loves a kitchen gadget.

Trumpton · 01/11/2022 22:33

Heated gilet that comes with its own power pack. Recommended on the Christmas thread. Ororo ,not cheap but he has an under active thyroid and really feels the cold.
also a height chart ruler that I will transfer all the DGCs heights onto so I can paint the kitchen wall!

Trumpton · 01/11/2022 22:34

Ah recommended by @Mrsfussypants1 on this very thread!

PumpkinDart · 01/11/2022 22:58

A golf simulator. I fear I'll live to regret this idea though.

NinkyNonkNausea · 02/11/2022 02:31

A new bbq/smoker will be his big gift. Probably a scotch or fine Tequila, some books (I am excellent at book recommendations so he looks forward to this every year! It's my one skill so I can brag about it!) Some silly socks and some cologne. Maybe a new bathrobe because I'm tired of his old one.

CoffeeChocolateWine · 04/11/2022 18:35

I had been wracking my brains trying to think of one more small-ish gift for my DH (main gift is a big joint gift to each other so just after a few small bits this year). He's into water sports, cycling and mountain biking and the other week I came across waterproof socks. Bit of random gift admittedly, but I thought maybe that would be useful so I've been thinking on it. Anyway, he went biking today with a friend and has just announced that he would really love some waterproof socks for Christmas as he borrowed some today and they we're amazing 😂 I clearly know him better than he knows himself! So if there are any partners that are into cycling/mountain biking (and probably many more uses!), then maybe waterproof socks could be an option!

I’ve read the whole thread for inspiration and I’m still stuck. He’s impossible to buy for.

Ditto! When I am stuck (which is most years), I buy a replacement for something he's already got (usually a once white sports t-shirt or a sweatshirt that doesn't have holes in it.) Or upgrade his favourite wine/spirit. When all else fails, a homemade voucher for a weekend away (that I get to go to too... result!!!)

TeamHerbivore · 05/11/2022 09:02

Concert tickets
Theatre tickets
Coat
Call of Duty
Pyjamas (personalised with our dogs on)
Framed print for his office
DNA tests for our rescue dogs

EasterIssland · 05/11/2022 10:19

I have no idea. He adores coffee, so I’m trying to come up with something coffee related. Not a coffee machine, as he already has one.

any suggestions welcome.

I bought my husband a milk frother and he is obsessed! Could be an option?

I bought DH some welly liners as a stocking filler last year after seeing them recommended on MN (you still wear socks, but the liners take the chill off the wellies).
He's usually very hard to please but has appreciated them.
Maybe you could buy a pair of those to take away with you, print out a picture of the wellies and stick in a card saying 'waiting for you at home?.

longtompot · 05/11/2022 11:09

A burr coffee grinder. We've been getting a lot of sludge in the bottom of our cups and a bit of research says this is due to an uneven grind which these burr grinders do a more even grind. He doesn't know about this so hopefully it'll be a good surprise.
Some drum lessons. I have been with him for 35+ years and have never known he wanted to play drums! I thought a few lessons might be good, and if he enjoys it, then maybe an electronic drum kit for his birthday which is early next year.
Some clothes, T-shirt, trousers
Whisky

PicsForCliques · 05/11/2022 11:19

Arctic monkeys tickets
Vans
tickets for a comedian (from DS)
Favourite band print
football team coasters

resistance band

34and3 · 05/11/2022 12:13

A trip to NYC (with kids too though!)

pinkksugarmouse · 05/11/2022 13:52

At 76 he has pretty much all he wants. We also just tend to buy things we see when we want and can afford them but I have got;

Undoctored book by Adam Kay
What Just Happened? book by Marina Hyde

DD(19) is giving me some money towards buying him a new watch which we have chosen. Just waiting til Dec to get the most from the warranty.
We also treat ourselves to a large box each of hotel chocolat at Christmas so he will have that.
His grown up daughter is getting us a updated microwave as a joint gift. She usually gets practical things because her Dad is so hard to buy for.

Maybe instead of a picture of just the wellies take a selfie of you in them in some nice lingerie or something. 🤣 Maybe that sounds weird but it might make him chuckle depending on his sense of humour.

SwordToFlamethrower · 05/11/2022 14:01

Nothing this year. Same as last year! We have everything we need so don't see the point. We are looking forward to nice food and our forthcoming baby.

mummabubs · 05/11/2022 14:01

Honestly just one gift due to cost of living, but I've sold some bits abd pieces to buy him an £80 lego set he's wanted for a while. He earns double what I do so to be honest in the past he's just bought what he wants. This year we're not as able to do that, so I figured I'd rather get him one thing that he really wants but couldn't justify buying for himself rather than 5-6 things that are more for novelty/ the sake of gifting if that makes sense?
