It was 25 today and that was too much for me, dreading the next 3 days.

DreamingofItaly2023 · 16/07/2022 19:21

This weather makes me really want to plan Christmas!

This weather makes me really want to plan Christmas!

Definitely! I've done some knitting and crochet for the Woolly Hugs Christmas sale and we've got DS's present already but I suspect once the school holidays are over then it will be all systems go.

CrazyBaubles · 17/07/2022 07:07

Morning. I'm in no fit state to do the countdown hungover / still drunk

Firefly yesterday was spent having afternoon tea in a lovely air conditioned restaurant (where we swapped the tea for prosecco), then sat outside but under shade drinking cocktails. And then for some reason we thought it would be a good idea to go back to my friends house, sit in the garden and drink rum 😳
I was a hot, happy, drunken mess by the time I got home!

I need to go back to sleep now. My head hurts 🤕
Temp is going to be awful here today and tomorrow 🥵

Morning!

I hope you're sleeping it off, Crazy. Sounds like it was good fun though!

We have a bouncy castle arriving at 10am, so that will be good fun to bounce on in high temps (though we're only forecast 27°, not 29°. The next two days are lowered by 2° too).

Just the thought of colder days at Christmas is motivating me to make a list
Currently 29 where I am forecast predicts 35 Monday and 38 Tuesday

FireflyGirl · 17/07/2022 19:20

Hope you had the hosepipe on the bouncy castle, Fluffy

That sounds like a lovely day, Crazy Hope you managed to get some more sleep! This heat will not help a hangover!

CrazyBaubles · 17/07/2022 20:24

What a random day! I went back to sleep and woke feeling hungover free. No idea how I managed that tbh, never have done before!
Ended up going to see the Lion King because my auntie offered me her tickets as she couldn't make it today. Was awesome (and air conditioned)!

Home, nap, McDs and now relaxing until it's time for bed.

Fluffy how was the bouncy castle?

NoWordForFluffy · 17/07/2022 21:12

Bit warm for much of the day, Crazy! But they've enjoyed it before / after it got too hot.

DS and his friend enjoyed themselves though; they were demolishing ice lollies to stay a bit cooler!

I didn't venture out in the garden (not well enough for all that sun malarky)

I'm looking at Christmassey things too , I really like the look of Dennis Servers House ar Christmas

FireflyGirl · 18/07/2022 07:49

Sounds like you had a lovely weekend, crazy.

What's everyone's plans for hiding from the heat today? 😁

I plan to go to the allotment after I drop DS at school, probably just to water - I can't see me wanting to do anything strenuous.

Then I have a Teams interview at 12, so need to not look too frazzled 🤭

NoWordForFluffy · 18/07/2022 08:08

Morning!

I've watered the garden this morning already, so that's a job done. Don't know whether to go to the allotment this evening or first thing tomorrow. Probably first thing as it'll be quieter and hopefully better water pressure!

The kids have had a bounce on the bouncy castle this morning. I'm hoping it will be collected nice and early as it needs to be replaced by the paddling pool ASAP, so the water has time to warm up.

Good luck for the interview, Firefly. 🤞 Would you prefer this one or last week's?

CrazyBaubles · 18/07/2022 09:46

70 I hope you're feeling better soon.
When I went to watch the HP play last year, my friend messed up the hotel booking and we ended up staying directly opposite the Dennis Servers house. It was decorated for
Christmas and looked lovely - I remember googling it and thinking it was so interesting. Would be interested to hear your verdict if you end up going.

Good luck today Firefly 🤞🏼

I got up early, walked the dog & watered the garden. My plan for the day is essentially working with a fan on my face and the windows open (also have a fan on the floor being shared between my feet and the dog) and pegging out the last 2 loads of washing.

Morning!

I've already been to water the allotment this morning. There were quite a few people there as well!

It's a bit toasty here. I don't envy anyone who has hotter temps than us almost everyone. 🔥🥵🔥🥵🔥🥵

Morning. It was like a sauna at work yesterday and last night's sleep was disturbed with periods of waking up sweating in a most unladylike fashion.

I am enjoying the cooler breeze before having a shower and taking the boy to the local urgent care centre.

DreamingofItaly2023 · 19/07/2022 08:25

Too hot here today as no cooler morning like there was yesterday. Can’t wait for tomorrow.

CrazyBaubles · 19/07/2022 08:54

Morning. Weather update from South Wales: my spare room reached 30° yesterday (and it's usually the coolest room in the house).

DH had to go in the attic and get extra fans down - we had 2 going overnight because upstairs was like an oven.
My sleep was rubbish.

Today it's already 28° outside 🥵 I've stripped the beds put them on to wash - once that's done I literally have nothing else to wash!

I have my family coming for tea today to celebrate nieces birthday before we're away. Means I've had to hoover which was a PITA in the heat.
Will be popping to town on my lunch break (in my car that doesn't have air con) too so fully expecting to be hot and miserable today!

NoWordForFluffy · 20/07/2022 06:48

Morning.

I'm very glad yesterday is done with. My room got to 30° during the day, and I could barely think.

However, it was still 28° overnight, even though our outdoor temp dropped to 20°. It's still 27° now, but the wind is coming towards the back of the house, so it'll take a while for cooler air to blow through.

First day of the summer holidays today. Can't believe we got a full school year done!

BiddyPop · 20/07/2022 10:01

Last night was still quite warm but I slept! (I was in bed by 8...really bad night Mon). And I was also back in my own bed - away for the weekend with family, and as there were a couple of cases of covid, I'd come home early but isolated in spare room.

We had a very loud but very short thunderstorm yesterday, a few minutes of rain but it was still very hot after although it started to cool as the evening came on, it was cold enough I needed my jacket this morning! There are videos online of lightening striking the Poolbeg chimneys (former power station in Dublin) which are fairly spectacular.

CrazyBaubles · 20/07/2022 21:17

Evening from a lovely cool house <hooray>

I worked in the office today which was really nice - first time everyone was in at the same time.
I did meet someone in the canteen who struck up conversation about holidays and we ended up talking about going away for Christmas Xmas Grin

Have just remembered I have a blanket to do a huge repair on for my nephew (he's 5, highly likely to have autism and this blanket is his comfort / reassurance thing. He has a spare but I have the original and he absolutely knows he doesn't have the proper one so I'm working on that now.

CrazyBaubles · 20/07/2022 21:53

Oh I forgot my very important news - my chilli plants have 4 chillis growing 😁
The heatwave has pushed it along so quickly, I've surprised myself with how proud I am 😂

NoWordForFluffy · 20/07/2022 22:47

Oh, good news! Some of mine are just starting to get little flower heads. They're a bit behind thanks to the peat-free compost, but are coming on now they're potted on into low-peat.

We have a fair few tomatoes on the way. And the lemon tree is doing well too.

Morning!

I'm still not sleeping amazingly well as the house is really retaining the heat from earlier in the week. 🥵🥵🥵 It's lovely outside, just not so much inside!

We had about 60 starlings visit for mealworms this morning. It was crazy! They're such lovely birds. 😍😍

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 21/07/2022 08:36

I slept far better last night Fluffy although I was still a bit on the warm side. When I could feel the slight breeze last night it was heavenly almost.

CrazyBaubles · 21/07/2022 08:47

Morning. I didn't sleep well last night either - I don't think it was heat here though, I think it may be hormone related because my mind was all over the place 🙄

It's nice and cool outside today so I don't need to have all the windows and doors open which is nice.

Fluffy my chilli plant in a deep pot went from flower to actual chillis quite quickly but I have others in a shallower trough type pot that don't seem to be growing so I'm considering moving them to a deep pot. Any hints or tips as I believe you're a successful chilli grower aren't you?

We're going away soon and my dad is on plant sitting duties so I'm going to need to leave him with very clear instructions (he's new to gardening like I am but seems to think watering everything a lot will fix all problems).
