It's far too hot here for all that kind of work Fluffy. I am melting.

CrazyBaubles · 10/07/2022 19:13

🥵 it is hot here today. 27° apparently. I am melting!

Have had a really nice day - first time out of the house in 2 weeks! Went to our favourite restaurant with my dad for lunch then spent some time with nephews and niece at my sisters where the paddling pool had been set up.
Exhausted now though.

Fluffy I have done no Christmas planning at all aside from buying some cross stitch cards and looking for patterns of the things I want to make on Pinterest.

Firefly hope your afternoon has been fun?
Your extension sounds nice and big. Our will (hopefully) be 2 storey at the back. It'll be slightly wider than the conservatory we have now but only by 1m. Not sure of exact sizes tbh - maybe 5m wide x 3m deep?
Downstairs will open up on to the kitchen so will be a kitchen diner with a second lounge type room and upstairs will give us an extra bedroom, an en suite (so I can have a bath) and a very very small office. 🤞🏼 we can get that underway next spring/summer.

How are you coping with the heat now why?
We're apparently staying above 24° until next weekend at least and I'm already dreading it 🫠

Morning!

It's our warmest day today this working week, peaking at 24°, apparently. It's then a bit cooler until the weekend when it goes back up again. In time for DS' bouncy castle on Sunday!

The cost of building is bonkers right now. If we ever buy this house and do work, DH will help with labour to try to keep the costs down a bit!

OP posts:
CrazyBaubles · 11/07/2022 13:21

Afternoon. It's my first day back at work today and I'm bone-crushing tired already. It's so strange, I imagine this is what your body feels like after hours of physical work at the allotment Fluffy, except I've barely done anything (hung out a load of washing, put some clothes away and sat at my desk) Confused

We're cooking here - 27° according to BBC and 28° according to Met office. Don't care either way, it's just too bloody hot. I have a fan on my face and one on the floor for ddog.

Our building plans are based on my dad being the project manager, having his trade discount on supplies and him calling in favours so we don't pay full price for a lot of work, plus DH will happily do manual labour (he just needs direction as he has no idea).
We figured our house right now is a bit small but we love it and don't want to move so will try and make this house into what we need.
It also helps that we have the conservatory footprint to base it all on too.

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 11/07/2022 16:28

It is ridiculously hot at 30° and I am at work. It is a full moon tonight and alongside the heat the place is on full level unsettled.

CrazyBaubles · 12/07/2022 09:03

166 Morning. Hot but cloudy here. Plan today is to work, clear the wash basket (last load is already on), clean kitchen on my lunch break and try not to nap today.

why I hope you're shift wasn't too bad.

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 12/07/2022 12:06

Hi Crazy my shift was absolutely horrendous to be honest and back for more this afternoon.

There is always so much laundry here, I am sure there are people living here that I haven't met yet sometimes. My wash pile goes on forever.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 12/07/2022 17:22

Hello , I've been MIA , just basically knackered ( flare up of IBS) I have to start the prep soon for a colonoscopsy

I'm mentally doing a Fantasy Food List for after (so far tomato without seeds and a Chelsea Bun ..not on the same plate obvs Xmas Wink ) But I know from experience it'll take me ages to want to eat .

I've been so jiggered , even having a shower seems like running the London Marathon .
<sigh>

NoWordForFluffy · 13/07/2022 06:28

Morning!

I'm on my way to the allotment to do the watering. Gets it done then!

Sorry to hear you're not well, 70. I have IBS, but only a mild version, thankfully.

I worked late last night to catch up with myself. It's good to get on top of stuff!

OP posts:
CrazyBaubles · 13/07/2022 20:07

why my laundry seems to be kept at manageable levels for ages then will randomly multiply faster than I can get through it. Strange considering there's only the 2 of us here!

Ah 70 I hope you're feeling better Flowers

Fluffy does that mean you're up to date at work now?

I did my first day back in the office today. Feel like I've run a marathon 🥱 Not helped by the fact it's bloody boiling.
I left the garden thermometer in the conservatory while I was at work today. Temp in there was 38° when I got home 🥵

NoWordForFluffy · 13/07/2022 21:06

Our washing does that, Crazy. Weird!

Hopefully you get some rest tonight after being back in the office.

I'm currently up-to-date. But it won't last!

Afternoon!

Busy, busy here.

Hope you're all well. 😁

CrazyBaubles · 14/07/2022 17:22

Afternoon from sunny (and scorching) S Wales

Ive been so busy today. Soaked all the plants this morning before work, my morning was meeting after meeting, then an eye test (no new prescription needed so that's £200 I was expecting to spend that I can keep now 🥳), tied that in with picking up a c&c order from Matalan and a mooch into Wilko hoping for the small colourful plant pot I love that they didn't have then back for a mix of trying to meet a deadline while having more meetings and finding out my lovely big boss is leaving. Boo.
I'm working on a bit to try and get on top of things because a bloody deadline has moved from 5th Aug to Monday while I was off ill 😳

When I finish I'm going to have a look at repotting some of my plants - I put some chillis in a trough type thing and they're not doing well but the ones I put in a big pot are getting big, plus I planted seeds from a pepper and moved them to small pots ages ago. They're too big now and need to be potted on.
And I bought a small metal trough to put my succulents in. In my head it's going to look lovely but we'll see....

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 14/07/2022 20:01

Your day sounds ridiculously busy Crazy. Booo to deadline moving. I am still drowning in laundry and my bank card was used fraudulently whilst I was depositing cash where I live. It was used in Reading. I can't be in two places at once currently.

NoWordForFluffy · 15/07/2022 07:52

Morning!

At least you were in the bank when it happened, Why! Definitely can't be in two places at once. Has the bank already refunded it?

It's really not that warm here. Yet. We're due high temps from Sunday.

We've lost another birdy to gape mouth. It's really not very pleasant. Poor things.

OP posts:
CrazyBaubles · 15/07/2022 08:21

Morning. Warm and sunny here already. Apparently it's only getting up to 23° today but it feels like that already 🤔

According to bbc & met office we'll be getting up to between 25 - 27° tomorrow then into the 30s Sun, Mon & Tues. I'm dreading it, I hate the heat.
I'm out tomorrow too so trying to find something nice, comfortable and cool to wear is a bit of a nightmare.

why I hope the bank sort that out quickly for you - as you were depositing money I can see them arguing at all!

fluffy I have no idea what gape mouth is but it doesn't sound nice at all 😔

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 15/07/2022 09:45

Yes the money has been refunded already. It was done by the time I got off the phone thankfully.

It is still too hot here but Monday and Tuesday are looking hideous, I can feel myself melting already.

NoWordForFluffy · 16/07/2022 08:55

Morning!

It's a bit grey here, but may burn off later, I think. The next 3 days are definitely going to be a bit toasty, though not as toasty as you lot down south have. Thank god.

@FireflyGirl, what are your temps set to be on that side of the country?

Good news re the money, Why.

OP posts:
FireflyGirl · 16/07/2022 09:19

Rather warm, Fluffy 😲😲

Roll on Wednesday!

Another busy week here - DD was ill, more building work, and lots of Job hunting (and an offer, yey!)

Glad you're doing a bit better Crazy. What have you got planned for today? Is it outside?
