Morning!

Well done to your DH, Crazy! Where is that gig?

It sounds like a nasty dose of Covid. I hope you're feeling better today.

I'm off to the allotment shortly. I'm very tired though. 💤

<Tumbleweed!>

Man down! DS has his first ever bought of D&V! I think it surprised him somewhat, poor sausage. But he's taken it relatively well, in the scheme of things!

Dry but grey here. Not exciting weather!

OP posts:
TheWoollybacksWife · 04/07/2022 10:13

Poor sausage indeed Fluffy. There's a D&V bug doing the rounds so I hope he's soon recovered. My lot swear by Rich Tea biscuits (and still Lucozade).

CrazyBaubles · 04/07/2022 10:13

Oh no, your poor DS! If he's anything like me he'll need minimal actual care but lots of niceness - actually vomiting makes me feel very teary and upset Blush

I think I'm turning a corner here as I feel a little bit hungry for the first time in days. Have a headache still, am exhausted and have a horrible metallic taste in my mouth (and no sense of smell) but not as horrendous as I was over the weekend.
On Saturday I literally flopped onto the sofa with a bucket and a drink of water and didn't move until 10pm when I went to bed.

This is a bugger of a virus! Thank god for DH who came home early yesterday (went away Fri night) and was pushing me to drink more water, try some toast, eat a lolly etc.

I'm off work again today. Using it to rest up properly rather than rush back.

Hope everyone is ok - it's very quiet on here at the mo....

BiddyPop · 04/07/2022 13:45

DH cycled off very early for work this morning, and DD followed (by bike, to work) not long after. Neither fed "their" dog, nor walked her. (DD was going to feed her but refused as I asked if anyone had walked her - not to guilt trip, but find out information). So I ended up having to feed her and deal with a stain on the carpet she left. Then chase her as she escaped when the postie called with a package (they love each other but she saw the green and freedom!!). So I brought her for a walk - and got rained on for my troubles.

But the postie brought my fabrics - 5 different cottons with hockey designs. So I am going to make a drawstring bag and a bandana for DD with those to start before her camp later this month, and some other things for Christmas stockings.

NoWordForFluffy · 04/07/2022 20:18

Things you don't want to see whilst making dinner: your son approaching with a bowl of sick! 🙈🤣

It seems that he's not up to eating yet. Lesson learned. He's been sitting gripping a bowl for about 2.5 hours, after sitting by the loo for about 45 minutes to start with. Poor thing! He's being relatively stoic though.

I hope you recover soon, Crazy.

Biddy, yay for fabric!

Woolly, I'm not sure he can do biscuits yet. Maybe tomorrow!

Morning!

DS sounds brighter this morning...I can hear him upstairs. Hopefully he manages to eat today and keep it down! He can't go back into school until Thursday, so no doubt he'll be bouncing off the walls before then. 🤣

I will need to go and water the allotment later on. No rain is forecast any time soon!

OP posts:
NoWordForFluffy · 05/07/2022 08:42

Ooh. Rain! I won't have to water the allotment now. Whoop!

OP posts:
CrazyBaubles · 05/07/2022 15:46

Afternoon. Very grey and miserable looking here.

biddy what will you be making for your dd's stocking?
I actually need to make a stocking for my niece at some point - I have plenty of Christmas fabric, just need to find some energy and put some time into it.

Fluffy glad your ds seems to be feeling better (and that the rain has saved you an allotment job).

DH is attending a funeral today so I'm sat un the conservatory with the door open. My poor plants have been neglected so I've watered them and now cross stitching.
Still shocking how much Covid has zapped my energy - although I'm on the mend, just watering the plants, putting out bird food and putting a few plates in the dishwater left me wheezing and sweating 😳

FireflyGirl · 06/07/2022 07:35

Make sure you're taking it easy, crazy. It really does suck the energy out of you!

I am back on track with a new phone, new laptop and new (temporary) job, so let the Christmas planning (re) commence! 😁

How's DS this morning, Fluffy?

NoWordForFluffy · 06/07/2022 07:41

Morning!

It's gone drizzly here, not what was forecast. But there you go!

DS is fine. More than fine. Excited he gets to stay off again today! 🙄The OT who's assessing him for dyspraxia is coming round later on, to play Lego with him.

How is your building work going, Firefly? Are you doing locum work? I often get emails for that! Wouldn't want to rely on it permanently for income, mind you, but as a stop gap it would be good!

I've not done a huge amount of planning really. I'm not in the mindset yet...give it time! Xmas Grin

OP posts:
FireflyGirl · 06/07/2022 14:04

It's about 80% done, most of the external stuff is done and they're putting up the ceiling boards today.

It's not locum, as such. I joined an advisory companyt working in-house at one of their clients, but they've just taken their own solicitor on, so they have given me my notice at the end of the month.

I've got two interviews lined up next week, so fingers crossed I should have something else soon.

Our LA don't diagnose dyspraxia, so they're excluding everything else instead with DS 🤷 He'd love to have someone come play Lego and talk to him 😂

NoWordForFluffy · 06/07/2022 14:35

This is a private diagnosis for DS, paid for by DH's parents (thankfully)! Though we've been awarded DLA now, so can pay for any treatment he needs post-diagnosis.

I gave DS some new Lego to show to her today, so hopefully he will join in with playing with her!

Exciting that the work is almost done. It feels like it's taken a while!

Morning!

What fascinating(!) times we're living in. 🙈🤣

Bit gloomy today but not sure we had the forecast rain overnight. Doesn't seem wet. Hopefully it'll rain at some point tonight!

DS has to go back to school today. He's not keen on the idea (this is why 48 hours is bad for autistic kids with a propensity to refuse school in general).

OP posts:
BiddyPop · 07/07/2022 08:49

Crazy, I hope you're starting to feel more human again but keep taking it easy until you do.

Fluffy, I hope the OT goes well, and that she has some strategies and ideas you can use to make things easier and work on specific issues.

Firefly, hopefully another role comes up soon for you.

Muggy here but on bus so I need my coat in case of rain. But I'm meeting my old boss for lunch so the bus allows us to decide to have a glass of wine if we want. But yoga tonight so I will get to stretch.

Crazy, one thing I want to do for the stocking is a little round zippered pouch to hold her wired earphones and possibly a couple of cool masks if we are still wearing them. The bandana would be nice for stocking except that would be very useful when she's away on training camp.

CrazyBaubles · 07/07/2022 11:34

Morning (just). Sunny but windy here.

Firefly how big an extension / building works did you have done? We're in planning stages and it's frying my brain a bit 🤯

Fingers crossed for your interviews too 🤞🏼

How did the OT go yesterday Fluffy?

Biddy your stocking ideas sound good, plus you've reminded me, I have been planning to crochet a pouch for my laptop to go in and sew a small bag to keep my charger / mouse etc together when I have to cart stuff in for my office days. I'll add them to my never ending list

Feeling more human here today although my chest and cough is still bad (and my voice isn't back properly so I sound a bit whispery and ridiculous).
I'm on day 9 (or possibly 10) and tested positive this morning which means DH is still banished to the spare room 🙄

NoWordForFluffy · 08/07/2022 07:26

Morning!

The sun is coming out here. It might be a nice day! We had some rain last night, but not much, I don't think.

Crazy, at least you're on the mend, albeit slowly. Hurrah for the weekend for more rest!

The OT visit went well. She's doing a final assessment in school on Monday, then letting us have the report so we can start him in Y4 with a plan for helping him.

Fingers crossed it all helps him going forward.

OP posts:
CrazyBaubles · 08/07/2022 13:26

Afternoon. Very very sunny and warm here 😎 Conservatory is unusable (apart from for drying clothes) but ddog is enjoying cooking out there.

I'm feeling so much better today. Cough is ongoing as is the tiredness but I can move around without coughing and spluttering so that's good.
I'm going to go out and water the plants later, which they desperately need.

Glad the OT meet went well Fluffy. It'll be great if you can get a plan out together ready for the new school year in Sept.

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 08/07/2022 21:36

Had a very long hot day at work. I think my feet may not recover they are aching so much.

Glad you are on the mend Crazy.

NoWordForFluffy · 09/07/2022 08:04

It's rattling onwards towards Christmas! Once DS' birthday is past, I'll be in full planning mode!

It's not as hot up here, thank god. We were a full 8 degrees below you yesterday, Why! It's dry and warm, but pleasant.

I need to pootle around the garden today. Bits and bobs to do!

OP posts:
whydoesitalwayshappentome · 09/07/2022 11:08

Glad it is cooler with you Fluffy.

I have several Christmas presents already stashed. Quite worried about myself as I usually start far later in the year.

NoWordForFluffy · 09/07/2022 16:01

I have a couple of presents stashed including a shit tonne of Lego bought when DS' DLA back payment came in!.

I'm thinking about others now too, but I'm not sure what to get, so haven't managed more yet!

Stocking fillers will likely be next (I got a couple of Book Tails bookmarks the other day, and also have some Christmas socks). I probably won't get much more other than sweets / chocolate though.

OP posts:
NoWordForFluffy · 09/07/2022 16:08

Oh, my pottering was actually more extreme than planned as I've jet washed our slabs, done some sweeping / weeding and mowed the lawn. Plus potted my chillies on. It's looking tidier out there now now!

OP posts:
FireflyGirl · 10/07/2022 09:43

We had a mad tidying rush in the garden last night as I've invited my nephews round to play in the paddling pool this afternoon 🤣

Is anyone else finding the MN site really clunky at the moment? It's taking a while to catch up when I'm typing and takes forever to post (so I've lost a couple of messages when I didn't check they were actually posted before leaving the page 🙄)

Sorry for the late reply Crazy, our extension is quite big, 4.5m out and the width of the house, just over 6m. I went out so far as Planning wouldn't let me go double storey with it being at the front and we're in the corner as you come down our part of the cul de sac so very obvious.

The extension itself is relatively straightforward, as it's just a new hallway and a couple of rooms, but l eventually plan to move the kitchen in there so we've had all the cables/piping put in for that to make it easier in the long run. What are you thinking of doing?

NoWordForFluffy · 10/07/2022 13:24

Afternoon!

I'm very hot and sweaty after 4 hours at the allotment. So much weeding / hoeing was done. And I had to shovel 5 barrows of shit too. Well, I had to do 3 and I volunteered to do 2 for the person who let me use their barrow!

I'm preparing the beds for next year and putting manure on now. By the time I need to use the beds they'll have had about 9-10 months of the manure being on top. The worms should do some top work in that time!
