Evening all. I've had a busy weekend catching up with my sisters in the North West.

Christmas wise I've bought DS's main present and I've been doing some crafting mainly for the WH sale. DD2 wants a nativity wreath for her classroom so I'll need to start making that fairly soon. What Christmas crafts are you planning @CrazyBaubles?

We've had some heavy rain today so that should fill up the water butts

NoWordForFluffy · 27/06/2022 20:14

It was a definite day of two halves here. Really sunny / breezy after the rain stopped; ideal drying weather! And weed-growing weather!

Good to see you back, Woolly.

I'm going to do one of my John Clayton cross stitch next; probably Christmas Inn. I need another Christmas project!

OP posts:
CrazyBaubles · 27/06/2022 21:35

Fluffy how many of the John Clayton ones do you have? I like the Christmas skaters one but also have a bit Christmas wish list on Love Crafts Xmas Blush

Woolly I've promised to make a stocking for my niece as dsis couldn't get one with her initial on last year so that'll be a sewing machine project.
I have cross stitch cards for MIL, a friend and DHs Gran to do.

I also usually make something for my mum and sister - I've done scarves, tree decorations, a Santa bag (mum) and Santa washing line (sister) and cushions in the past.

I'm considering crochet mini trees or Gonks this year (like the pics).

I also had vague ideas about making myself things too, like a Christmas blanket (crochet or a sewn quilt), quilted placemats, a crochet gingerbread house.

Plus, I really want to make a Christmas tree / snowman (like the last pic).

So not much really 😂 There's not a chance I'll complete all of that!!

I have them all except the skater one, Crazy, so church, shop, village, cottage, inn and Santa. I've done 2 so far. Xmas Grin

Your list is rather long! 🤔🤣

TheWoollybacksWife · 27/06/2022 22:08

They are cute Crazy. I love the snowman/Christmas tree. What about tea cosies for your mum and sister? They are a bit of a specialty of mine 😂 but I do have a pattern for a gnome one I can share with you. I made it for Fluffy and as long as you can increase and decrease then you can make it. The fluffy yarn that you use for the beard really makes it.

We love our gnome tea cosy! ❤️ He's being saved for Christmas so he doesn't get damaged.

Weirdly busy day with not much achieved yesterday. Hate days like that!

CrazyBaubles · 28/06/2022 08:28

Morning! I am exhausted today after yet another rubbish sleep. I seem to have picked up yet another dry throat and small cough 🙄 - I'm blaming all the singing over the weekend.

Fluffy sounds like you've got enough JC kits to keep you going for a while.

I really can't buy any more kits because I've got enough for the next 2 or 3 years at least but I have these (pics) on my Christmas wish list alongside the JC one.

70 I may make a tea cosy for myself when my knitting skills improve (I want to make a Santa one) but neither my mum or sister have a teapot.

What fluffy yarn did you use for the beard please? I may need it for the gonks (and the tea cosy when/if I get around to it)

CrazyBaubles · 28/06/2022 08:29

Ah, forgot pics Blush

Crazy it was this one. That photo looks like you might need some of this for the fur trim too.

BiddyPop · 28/06/2022 16:44

Afternoon all,
Cub camp was fun, as usual, but ranks as the 2nd worst ever as an event for leaders. So much rain (and so HEAVY it was really noisy in tents), a few homesick Cubs (including one who woke us at 1.30, went to bed again but got sick from nerves, couldn't get hold of parents, he went back to bed at 3am so we went to bed at 3.30, he was up again at 6 having already packed his bags...but then had a great morning once the other Cubs were awake!!). I was a zombie driving home, with a car full of kids as 1 cub needed a lift so I had the 2 scout helpers as well (safeguarding) - so no stopping for coffee...I slept until almost 11 yesterday Blush oops, definitely need to claim that as a half day's leave.

Today, I had to drive 40km further than the weekend campsite for an event for work - but that went well. (I snuck into the town centre "for lunch" afterwards, and spent a few € in the 2 sewing shops...zips, embroidery threads, a few needles, snap fasteners in big sizes, and 3 metres of cotton (3 lovely patterns - a fox character, flowers, and space)...the sewing shops near me have nearly all closed so I take the opportunities Xmas Grin). And yes, I have checked, there is a good crafting shop in Sligo for the next event in 2 weeks time, but I need to go in the evening beforehand as I am racing back for a meeting in the office that afternoon.

I'm loving all the kits photos and your crafting plans!

Belated Happy Birthday to 70's DD.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 28/06/2022 19:41

Crazy if you're looking at teapots there's some nice metl ones in The Range . I don't drink much tea , but my pet hate is a dribbly spout .
If DD makes tea for herself she does an In Cup Brew ( Xmas Shock ) I even have a single cup tea-pot (very cute) in dark green but she's not convinced . ( I make her use a pot for mine though)

I am having a fasting blood test tomorrow so only water (don't know if I can have black coffee)
I feel really nauseous but I am SO hungry which makes the nausea worse ( not pg )
<sigh> Worlds Tiniest Violin and a Pity Party for One

Morning!

How long do / did you have to fast for, 70? I hate abstaining from food for any reason!

I don't think we have any craft shops here, Biddy. Though maybe there was a new one opening, but I think it was more knitting-related and I really don't need to buy more stuff!.

Our teapot is from Poland and has a tea light holder underneath to keep the tea warm. I also use the first tea cosy from Woolly with the nativity on it!

CrazyBaubles · 29/06/2022 09:41

Morning. Woman down over here - started to feel a bit rubbish last night. Tested positive for Covid today 😩 Headache, achey muscles, temperature and tiredness so far so I'm back with a fan on me. Great.

Thanks for the wool recommendations Woolly

Busy as ever Biddy!
I love a good craft shop. We have a lovely family owned one that's been around since I was tiny (my Nan used to shop there).
It's deadly though because they sell things for every craft you can imagine.

70 I hope you've had your test and been able to eat something.

A tea light holder under the teapot sounds genius Fluffy.

I have a Le Creuset teapot (was a present) which does a great job here - and no drips!

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 29/06/2022 09:57

Hope you feel better soon Crazy. I know loads with/just had Covid at the moment.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 29/06/2022 10:11

Hopefully you can ride out the Covid with painkilers and fluid Crazy
I have been telling people the past few weeks that Covid will be back , it hasn't gone . I got the Hmm faces

Blood test this afternoon ( I was able to get a cancellation, I see why ) and its 10-12 hours (I'm having God Knows How Many Things looked at)

I did wake at 5am and thought "shall I go downstairs for coffee"? but didn't

So water . Boring flipping water .
Woe is me ....

TheWoollybacksWife · 29/06/2022 10:40

Get well soon Crazy. I hope it isn't too bad for you.

Hope your day isn't too traumatic 70. There's something about knowing you can't eat for a set amount of time that seems to switch on the part of your brain that thinks about food constantly

NoWordForFluffy · 29/06/2022 11:20

Yes, Woolly, weird how the brain / stomach work, isn't it?!

Crazy, hope you feel better soon. I assume London / gigs are the cause. At least you had fun catching it!

OP posts:
CrazyBaubles · 29/06/2022 21:50

Thanks for all the well wishes. It's been a very long day (broken up by naps and care packages from my parents dsis and DH).

Fluffy I agree I was at least enjoining myself when I picked Covid up - I just wish it had delayed itself by a day or 2 as I also had gig tickets for tonight which I've had to miss (Elton).

70 hope your test went ok today. I agree with Woolly, as soon as they tell you not to eat your body decides you're absolutely starving - similar to how I don't need a wee at all until I unlock my front door - and then I have to go asap 🙄

NoWordForFluffy · 30/06/2022 06:23

Morning!

Crazy, that wee thing drives me mad. Apparently it's a known phenomenon! 🤷‍♀️🙄

It rained again overnight, so my allotment is definitely well-watered this week! Plants do seem to prefer rain to tap water, so hopefully they're benefiting!

How are you feeling today, Crazy? Has your DH dodged it this time? It's a real shame about Elton though; you must be gutted.

OP posts:
CrazyBaubles · 30/06/2022 16:39

Gutted is an understatement Fluffy. DH is going to look for more Elton tickets later (and my dad has offered to pay for mine - within reason - as he had mine yesterday).

I'm feeling very sorry for myself today. I'm a rubbish patient and I'm fed up of feeling crappy already.
My throat and head and body is so sore 😩 DH is in Sainsburys right now hopefully buying an assortment of Difflam, strepsils, paracetamol and anything else that may help.

Also, I fell asleep this afternoon around the time the primary school up the road finishes and was woken by a lovely woman shouting "don't you dare go on that road" at a little boy who shouted back "fuck off mam" - so that was nice 😳

NoWordForFluffy · 30/06/2022 18:12

What a lovely family moment to wake up to, Crazy! 🙄

Try Twickets for tickets. There were a fair few Hyde Park ones on at the weekend.

OP posts:
BiddyPop · 01/07/2022 11:37

Oh dear Crazy, get lots of sleep, that helped me most (I was having a 2 hour nap at 5pm having had a 2 hour nap around lunch).

I hope the blood test went ok 70s.

Fluffy, I can report that there is more rain water coming across the Irish Sea today...lucky plants! Be thankful you are not near Las Vegas, Lake Mead behind the Hoover Dam is drying up so much that the electricity generators in the dam are in danger of being turned off and the houseboats on the lake may need to be abandoned...

NoWordForFluffy · 01/07/2022 12:51

Afternoon!

I've just looked at the forecast, Biddy. Yep, more damp on the way!

Crazy, Covid infections are soaring. You're a statistic! Hope you're feeling better today.

OP posts:
NoWordForFluffy · 02/07/2022 07:47

Morning!

It's chucking it down here. It wasn't meant to rain until 8 last night, so I walked to Sainsbury's, only for it to start at 7. DH had to fetch me, annoyingly, but I'd have been very wet and very cold if he hadn't done! The rain has barely stopped since.

DH is going to do Park Run as long as the rain isn't as heavy as it currently is and then I'm taking DD into town to buy DS' birthday card and do other chores.

OP posts:
CrazyBaubles · 02/07/2022 12:33

Afternoon. Things are a bit rubbish here - all I've done is sleep. This morning I woke at 7, was sick, sore, took painkillers, was sleeping again by 8 and woke up at 11:30 😳
I feel like my head is going to explode and I'm so so sore so it seems like I have another day of doing nothing and feeling sorry for myself...

Fluffy DH got us Elton tickets for next June 🥳
