I've been way too busy with work and totally fell off here and my Christmas mojo combined. The good news is that I did step back from the day job this time when the promotion competition was announced and focussed on ME - which finally paid off!! I came so high up the panel, I was appointed within a couple of weeks and have now survived the crucial 6 week mark!!

But finally succumbed to covid last week, don't know how, I managed to keep working until wed evening but had to take Th/Fr off. So I finally picked up my XSt again, the sea one only had the body of the 2 whales done so I finished that and did the bees afterwards. I started on a cheerful crocus last night. (Photo in next post). I should have enough now to do all the backs and finishing, and give to the remaining DSiblings this year!!

Nothing else done this year yet - firstly I need to have a quiet conversation with DH about where to spend it, and book a house if travelling. Then start on the rest of my plans, and shopping/making.

And of course, the first day there is actually sunshine, I need to be back doing work again...at least I have to WFH all week, so I can take midday naps and also organise myself for Cub camp this weekend (there are 3 other Leaders going but they need a girl, so they have been warned I am not going to be my usual "do everything" person! Grin ).

Morning!

Not a good day...DS woke and was straight into meltdown and refused to go to school.

Weather is nice though, which is something!

Biddy, busy busy as ever!

Welcome back Biddy. Cute cross stitches.
Do you have any preference about where to spend Christmas this year?

Fluffy did you get ds to school in the end?

I'm having a quiet work, relax and cross stitch day as we've had a busy few days.
MIL was visiting and we fitted in a lot of family visits, walks and ended by finally going to the theatre yesterday.
It was nice to see her but with a guest it means you don't get a minute to yourself - I feel all talked out so wouldn't surprise me if DH & I barely speak all evening 😂

NoWordForFluffy · 21/06/2022 18:11

Nope, Crazy. He refused to go. I think it just illustrates that school aren't doing enough to help him. That will have to change!

Have a quiet night tonight, you need it!

OP posts:
CrazyBaubles · 21/06/2022 19:07

That's rubbish Fluffy, school should definitely be working with you on making school somewhere he wants to go!

I'm sat in my conservatory right now where it's still light and warm. Trying to find some energy to go and water the plants etc.
I had to fight off a nap after tea so I'm definitely tired. I also think I'm a bit irritable because if DH tells me how tired he is one more time I'm going to throw something at him 🙄

Morning!

We had our online post-diagnosis course last night. We left early as 3 hours watching a screen after a full day working is just too much. And the presentation just isn't great. She's nice, but it would be better if the face-to-face groups had gone ahead instead. Only 3 more sessions left! 😭😭

It's another stunning day today. ☀️☀️☀️ It means I need to go and water the allotment after work. Sigh.

OP posts:
CrazyBaubles · 22/06/2022 10:26

What do they actually do in a post-diagnosis course Fluffy?

It's scorching here today too so I'm glad to be WFH (it's meant to be an office day but the trains are a bit mad).

Doing something Christmassy today though - booking to see a screening of Love Actually with a live orchestra in December Xmas Smile
It's not my favourite Christmas film but it'll be nice and festive and we'll have drinks first

Disney are doing the same thing at some venues with Muppets Christmas Carol which I'd love to go to but the nearest they're getting to me is Bath and it's on the date we leave for our Christmas away 😫

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 22/06/2022 16:31

It is boiling here Crazy as well. I am not a fan of boiling.

I have actually done some ironing today, which is unusual as I retired from doing it last year. My OH is going away for a few days and so I decided to polish my halo and help 😇

NoWordForFluffy · 22/06/2022 18:24

Crazy, you're taught stuff like how the autistic mind works so you can tailor your approach to talking to / interacting with them.

It's hot here too. I'm at the allotment doing my watering!

Morning!

Another lovely day, by the look of it. ☀️☀️☀️

It's DD's birthday, so a bit of a Lego-fest!

OP posts:
CrazyBaubles · 23/06/2022 08:55

Morning. Another ☀️😎 day here by the looks of it.

Fluffy the course sounds like it could be great but would be so much easier if you could attend it in person. There's only so much time you can stay engaged when looking at a screen.

why I hope your OH appreciated the ironing! I gave up a long time ago so DH does his own (and I deliberately choose clothes that won't need it). According to my mother this makes me a terrible wife especially when she realised I also don't do all the cooking and he actually batch cooks and organises our work lunches

I've got a manic work day today as I need to finish early tomorrow. We're going to London for a gig and are expecting the trains to be a nightmare.

BiddyPop · 23/06/2022 10:16

Hi again,
I start back here as I start to feel better, and work starts to expect me back on full form...slight mistake. I am loving the new job, but it is a much bigger jump than I expected in some ways .

Crazy I'd like to travel but only if I have separate lodgings and bring both cars - both DPs and DMIL are reeling from isolation and health/age issues creeping in, thus more demanding. I gave a full extra week to DMIL last summer alone after a fall, and the same to my DM over Easter after a tummy bug aggravating other things - both of which were time I had earmarked for much needed peace and quiet myself and getting things done here. But houses are even rarer than usual, and more expensive (€1,500 for 6 nights!!) so I don't know.

Fluffy, hopefully the course will be useful. I have done a few different Middletown Centre's courses in Armagh over the years, and they have a lot online now which is useful. But it's often what you hear from other parents, either a realisation that "it's not just me", or practical ideas to try that have worked for them (which may, or may NOT, work for your DC - but can give you something else to try), that are the biggest benefit, and that's hard when the courses are online.

I finally finished off sewing together the 3 stockings I cut out, probably 18 months ago. And got halfway through my box of scouts paperwork (so the recycling is full again). Still not sleeping enough, to the point I pondered driving to Belfast today as Decathlon in Dublin isn't selling the campbed I want anymore to try and guarantee a good sleep this weekend (Cub camp - and they need the only female leader on site but the guys are all warned I will be taking naps).

BiddyPop · 23/06/2022 10:17

Dull day here, only 15 degrees, but still dry - but forecast is a LOT of rain over the weekend, so spare clothes to change for driving home on Sunday are a necessity.

NoWordForFluffy · 23/06/2022 16:53

It's scorchio here!

I worked until 2, even though I should've had a half day. I'll do the same tomorrow, most likely, even though we have a half day given to us for the summer party (even if we aren't going!). I don't need the full afternoon, but do need to work!

Sun for morning coffee in the garden but with a chill (needed a jumper) and it's already gone cloudy...work this morning, then pack gear at lunch and head to Cub camp in the afternoon, forecast is for pitching tents in the rain.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 24/06/2022 11:52

waves to Biddy long time no see

Tomorrow is another Rudolph Day ( and my DD Birthday ) and marks the HalfWayPoint Xmas Grin

I'm off to make a Lemon Drizzle Cake ( she's not going to punch it Xmas Wink ) and Banana Bread (her request , she doesn't "do" cake, and especially not bought cakes )

NoWordForFluffy · 24/06/2022 19:20

Evening!

Busy old day today. Mad at work, then I cleaned the bathroom, then went to the school fair. Then home via the pub as we got rained on going home! And I've now been to Sainsbury's and Morrisons and I'm finally on the way home.

I'm tired now!

Morning!

It's a sunny but breezy day today. Potential for rain later!

It's also Rudolph Day (happy birthday to 70's DD!). Nothing Christmassy planned today...DD has some friends round for playing / watching films / eating to celebrate her birthday. Exciting. Not! (I've never had charge of someone else's 9 year old child before!) 😱

OP posts:
70isaLimitNotaTarget · 25/06/2022 08:59

Ah thank you Fluffy Xmas Grin

DD had chosen her presents so no surprise for her - I still wrapped them !
She's asked to go shopping ( not London unfortunately due to the rail strikes )

Rudolph Day !
I won't be able to do any Christmas planning , she'll be all "It's June / it's my birthday " Xmas Grin
But I might wedge a few comments in like "Oh in 6 months the Elves will be leaving your presents on your bed"

CrazyBaubles · 25/06/2022 15:50

Happy Birthday to your DD 70 🥳

Very quick check in from me. I'm in London for the weekend - saw Greenday last night and they were amazing.
Have spent today exploring Camden market and wandering around the posh bits we can't afford to shop in.
It's bloody boiling 🥵

NoWordForFluffy · 26/06/2022 08:22

Morning!

Well, we survived having 4 non-related 9 year olds join us for a few hours. 🤣🤣 The state of the front room carpet was interesting. 😱

It's rather windy today. Washing should dry!

Crazy, do Greenday still do a really long set? I'm very jealous you got to see them; I've not managed to do that yet (they're a bit dear these days!).

OP posts:
CrazyBaubles · 26/06/2022 08:49

Morning!

Fluffy Greenday did a good 90mins ish. They were amazing - I've wanted to see them since I was 15 (back when I had a crush on Billy - I think it was the eyeliner). Even got a bit emotional when they did Good Riddance Blush

We also got tickets to see the Red Hot Chilli Peppers last night as we were here anyway. They were also great but Greenday were better.

Very tired now but aiming to be out of our room in 10 mins so can have breakfast before leaving 🥱

Morning!

It's been very wet here this morning. It woke me just before the alarm, and then got heavier still once I was up! It's still raining, but has calmed down a bit now, thankfully.

Sounds like you had an amazing weekend, Crazy! Back to work for a rest. 🤣

OP posts:
CrazyBaubles · 27/06/2022 09:26

Morning. Very very tired over here. We had some storms last night that woke me up and I struggled to get back to sleep 🙄

Back to work (and a random assortment of jobs that seem to have been assigned to me in a meeting I missed on Friday).

I suppose all the rain means you don't have to go to the allotment and water Fluffy.

I missed a Rudolph day - going to make up for it by making a plan for Christmas crafts / presents to make later today. I did start ages ago but I'll have to make definite decisions and get started soon because I'm so slow Xmas Smile
