I'm going to make the sponge part of Mary Berry's Yule log this afternoon. The plan is to freeze it and then defrost and fill on Sunday so we can have it for pudding after dinner. If I decorate it with mini eggs it won't look too Christmassy will it? I may just use the mixture to make round cakes and sandwich them with ganache. Decisions, decisions 🤔

pussycatunpickingcrossesagain · 14/04/2022 10:46

Woolly Mini eggs are not remotely Christmassy. Grin It sounds lovely, just skip the "snow" icing sugar

ConstantlyCooking · 14/04/2022 10:58

DH has just tested positive so we need to cancel our plans for a weekend away with friends. Angry

TheWoollybacksWife · 14/04/2022 11:36

Oh Constantly that's shit. Hope he recovers quickly and you manage to have a good Easter weekend despite your disappointment.

NoWordForFluffy · 14/04/2022 11:57

Oh no, that's not good, Constantly. Sad

It's grey and a bit damp here in Glasgow. We're in the cafe at Kelvingrove museum. Maybe I should've tethered the kids at the allotment, as they're still being annoying! 🙄

ConstantlyCooking oh bugger. I hope he gets away with being not to ill...didn't you have a disrupted Christmas too? You might just have to have a big party in summer to make up for it.

fluffy duct tape them to a wall?? Wink

ConstantlyCooking · 14/04/2022 19:22

Thank you for the sympathy, DH just keeps complaining that he is the one who is ill - he's not even that sick.
I think I need an evening of snacks and a CCF!
Fluffy- I always remember a hotel apologising because they didn't have interconnecting rooms for us and the then teen DC. We were ecstatic!

Sorry to hear that, constantly. It's why I was glad we got it out of the way when we did!

Fluffy don't they have a royal dungeon somewhere near there? Go under the pretence of visiting and bribe someone to lock them in and lose the key for a few days. Job done, you and DH have a quiet few days Wink

FireflyGirl · 15/04/2022 07:53

Woolly am I remembering rightly that your DD loves Winnie the Pooh? Primark have some lovely, subtle, pastel coloured stuff in, including bedding and clothes.

TheWoollybacksWife · 15/04/2022 09:38

Ohh Firefly that's lovely. It's her birthday this week - I might see if there's a few bits to wrap up for her.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 15/04/2022 12:14

Catching up with y'all
Xmas Sad MrConstant

I've noticed so many people thinking Covid has gone but nope, it is still lurking and in some areas , rising !

I gave DS and DD their Easter Eggs this morning ( always do Good Friday now they're older , they can pace themselves )

DH is painting (late trip to B&Q after work yesterday )
I'm going to make a Lemon Drizzle cake and do some garden tidy up .

WreckTangled · 15/04/2022 12:28

That's so annoying constantly Sad stupid Covid.

I've already got one load of washing dry and another on the line. Went to my family for coffee and a) got told off for doing washing on good Friday and b) had to sit and listen to their Tory views for over an hour. I'm exhausted now but back home in the sun.

NoWordForFluffy · 15/04/2022 16:23

Afternoon!

I'm hungover. 🙄😬 It's improving now though, thankfully!

We're moving on to Falkirk after dinner, staying in a PI. Then it'll be a visit to the Kelpies in the morning and the playground next door.

My mother and I don't talk politics any more...we decided it's for the best.

CrazyBaubles · 15/04/2022 21:39

Oh the kelpies Fluffy, I love them!

My family don't really do politics but DHs family enjoy a debate. I enjoy listening because he has some very liberal relatives and some staunch Tory supporters. Their debates over Brexit fell just short of a family fall out but apart from that, they normally butt heads a bit then move on.

Sorry about the Covid news Constantly. How is he?

It's been boiling here today. I've cleared my wash basket, mores the lawn (for the first time ever) and cleaned my oven (rock & roll), before being surprised by a visit from a friend who brought wine which we drank in the back garden.
Have since had a nap and some food. Just killing half hour before going to bed I think.

CrazyBaubles · 15/04/2022 21:40

*mowed the lawn Blush

I should be in bed but I've got heartburn Xmas Sad so I;m stying upright a while till it sorts itself .

I cleaned the patio today , satisfying but noisy . I always think "I should do this more often" then I remember it's a royal pain the the bum !

Saturday will be food shop , put the winter clothes in the attic ( I think it's safe to now ) sort out anything for recycle and go through my Holiday Clothes

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 16/04/2022 02:00

stying = staying

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 16/04/2022 02:03

I wonder if anyone has ever put a rope headcollar on the Kelpies ( need to be a long rope )

Someone told me The Naked Man above Lewis's in Liverpool had knickers sewn onto him once Xmas Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 16/04/2022 07:39

Morning!

I was awake with you, 70, as the upstairs room apparently has dancing hippos in it! 😴

I've had quite broken sleep, but never mind. PI breakfast ahead (I'm on the continental one though)! 😋

CrazyBaubles · 16/04/2022 17:18

Afternoon. Messaging from the train and am very merry. Been out drinking cocktails since 12 and am definitely not ready to go home but ddog will be climbing the walls if I'm not back soon he wont, he'll be asleep but I feel bad

NoWordForFluffy · 16/04/2022 17:28

Sounds fun, Crazy!

I've been home for a couple of hours. I've watered some plants, fed the birds, put a load of washing on, made our bed, sorted the balance of the kids' money they took away and been to Aldi for bargain veg before the offer ends!

We have so much washing, it's scary! God knows how we create so much. Confused

OP posts:
CrazyBaubles · 16/04/2022 17:36

Fluffy I'm a bad influence and I have corrupted my friend who lives around the corner from me to join me for some more drinks this evening 😂

You've been very productive! My wash basket was cleared yesterday but I'm guessing the house needs another hoo ver (thanks ddog) and dishwasher needs to be emptied and reloaded. I may (or may not) do it when I get in.

WreckTangled · 16/04/2022 21:53

Have hidden all the eggs Grin (mainly tiny ones and some of those Easter chocolate lollies from Aldi!) Will keep them busy for five minutes in the morning...

WreckTangled · 17/04/2022 08:02

252 lovely morning here, meant to cloud over later though.

I got Wordle in two today Grin

We're going out for breakfast (premier inn type) so excited. Then to play crazy golf. It's been ages since we did anything as a family (Christmas?) so should be nice.

NoWordForFluffy · 17/04/2022 08:12

Morning!

4 for me, Wreck. I did get it in 2 the other day though, by fluke! 🤣 (One letter in the wrong place for my first guess, then got it on the next line!)

We've just woken up. We don't do an Easter egg hunt, just hand them over!

We are probably going to Martin Mere today. There's an Easter trail thingy. DS won't be arsed, but DD wants to do it.
