As long as he's happy pricing up jobs, he'll be fine mixing both. DH hated that aspect, which is why he didn't fancy going alone. At the moment there's way more work than available tradesmen, so he'll do well, I'd think.

He will fluffy when he works for other people they give him more money than he asks for because they say he's undercharging for how good he is 🙄

Happy new year!

We had fireworks from 6.30-ish onwards here. Then at midnight there was a brief burst of shit loads of them.

We watched Saving Private Ryan last night. I'd forgotten that the Tom Hanks character died (#spoiler). Then I was in bed just before midnight and asleep as soon as the massive burst of them ended. I'm exhausted after work this week!

I love the start of FWaaF, 70. Back then it was quite shocking for - some - people as they used to dub films on TV so it wasn't the word 'fuck' at that time! We're far less puritan with language these days!

Nothing very exciting happening here. We went to see the new Kings Man movie yesterday. It's very good - the language, violence and scenes of a sexual nature warnings were spot on. I was very glad that I wasn't sitting next to DS at times 😂

Those of you who have allotments do you grow loofah gourds? Or know someone who does? I saw them being used as eco washing up sponges on Gardener's World and I'm keen to ditch as much plastic as possible. We don't have the space to grow them unfortunately.

Ffs we've got a mouse. And as evidence and completely empty (previously unopened) bag of mini cookies

DD and I are lying on the sofas. I have a hangover which has crept up on me (how rude) but I don't where from- two glasses of Baileys wouldn't usually reduce me to a semi-functional state.

We're doing sterling work here eating all of our leftover Christmas Goodies, DH will be on his January health kick from Monday so temptation needs to be removed!

Quiet day today after all the sodding fireworks last night. One cat up a curtain and one couldn't give a bugger. 😹🤦‍♀️

We've got the in laws round for 'Christmas' dinner. I've 3 joints of meat resting in foil / towels and the roasties and dauphinoise are in the oven with pigs in blankets to go in shortly. Yorkshires to go in to reheat at the end!

I made a chocolate orange cheesecake yesterday and the chocolate / cherry pudding a while ago. I've done chantilly cream for the cheesecake and will do a chocolate sauce for the pudding after the main course. I'll be very full by the end of today! 🤣🤣🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷

I was surprised by the number of people at the allotment earlier. But it's been a gorgeous day, albeit a touch breezy. Our washing (done last night for the superstitious amongst us!) is very much dry, but can't come in til the guests have gone!

Christmas Gift 🎁 list has need updated on my phone, next years Christmas Pyjamas and Jumper have been bought for DD and so while I've spent most of the day under a blanket on the sofa I've at least been a little bit productive

I may pop! So. Much. Food! 🐷🐷🐷 I had to have both desserts...too tempting! Lots of leftovers to work through...I'll have to find recipes!

I cannot taste anything

Christmas Dinner , some things tasted different . (Not nasty just not right) My lasagne and garlic bread tasted of nil.
But now , I've had things to eat that I like the texture but the flavour is nought .
I was blaming DH for making my Inadequate Coffee , but cups I;ve had since have been the same . Toast and jam, tasted nothing-ey .
Of course everyone else is looking at me like Father Dougal , they're fine

I'm hoping this non-taste will bugger right off or I might as well eat porridge .

Oh no 70 that's one of the things I really don't want! Hope it gets back to normal quickly. I've got a slight chesty cough now. I also keep getting a really weird feeling up my nose like when you breathe in menthol. Have been dizzy a fair bit today but fine now. Still no PCR results

Wreck, are you checking your SATs? My friend fainted with Covid and smashed her head against the door, ending up in hospital being stitched up. Be careful!

We're taking the trees down today. The rooms will feel enormous!

I've already bought my sister her Christmas present for next year...in theory I could give it to her for her birthday but she lives abroad and we usually don't bother with gifts then.
On the other hand, I have yet to send to my stepson his Christmas present for the one we just had - it's a fancy wooden chopping board and I just didn't factor in that it's so damn heavy when I bought it!

No I don't have an oximeter. I feel fine though. Finally got our results at 6am this morning now I'll have the joy of t&t calling. Am I legally obliged to tell them everything? With ds they wanted to know where we'd been for the whole week before which was ridiculous, it wasn't so they could inform anyone it was just data collection. It wouldn't be so bad for us but some would still be Edinburgh. I thought it was just the 48 hours previous contacts they needed.

I don't think you are. Just tell people yourself. Is your DH still free of it?

Yes he is but I know people who tested positive a full two weeks after their partner. Ds' lft is very faint today. We obviously haven't been near anyone prior to our symptoms as we knew ds had it so were at home with him.

That's a worry isn't it? I know a couple of people who've had it twice too.
