There are postal ones but only for the general public not essential workers Hmm might order one anyway. Will get one for dd too. I guess it doesn't matter as we would count from today anyway.

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 29/12/2021 09:19

Well, you are also the public with a positive LFT, so you still fit the description!

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 29/12/2021 09:20

Oh no they've all gone now too. What a shambles.

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 29/12/2021 09:41

That's just appalling! Apparently they pop back up every now and then. But who has time to keep checking?!

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 29/12/2021 12:37

I've got some! They had drive ins but only 20 miles away then some postal ones came up so I've ordered three. Dh is the only one ok at the moment but at least we will have it if when he needs it.

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 29/12/2021 13:39

Yay! That's something!

Back to Christmas...my standing order went to my previously-unused savings account today, so I've started to save for next year! Limiting myself to Sainsbury's / Argos wasn't working, so I can now dip into those funds when needed. And it's not linked to my bank account, so I can't easily get at the money either!

I'm due £125 in Amazon vouchers thanks to my broadband supplier, which is due in Feb, so will use that for birthday presents. I already have DS' main present as he saw photos of a Lego set I got, which meant it couldn't be from Santa! My own fault! Xmas Hmm

We were meant to recieve LFT through the post today ......none arrived .

My DD hasn't taken a test , has a sore throat but is hiding away in her room (nothing to do with isolating , just being A Teen)

We have a Sainsbury delivery coming , need to see what the Unavailable/Subs will be .

I will do a nice NYE meal then NYD we take the decorations down ( we do every year) didn't put that many up this year though.
Once we're clear of isolating we need to get some lights fixed ( probably a re-wire is in order)
Good job DH didn't get round to decorating the bedroom, we're still looking at plaster walls , the paper is in the corner of the room still wrapped .

Need to think of some New Year Resolutions to ignore ............Xmas Grin

I haven't done one since I don't know when !

anibendod · 29/12/2021 21:18

Whilst filling in my new diary I discovered that I don't break up from school until December 23rd next year. Most schools will be the same (you should be able to find term dates on either your school's website or perhaps your local council /education authority site).

Worth taking into consideration if you need to create pre christmas magic for little ones and entertain them for 2 weeks afterwards.

TheWoollybacksWife · 29/12/2021 21:36

70 the lack of tests available is a disgrace but hardly surprising giving the "make an announcement and create panic and shortages" that seems to define the government's response to the pandemic. I hope you aren't feeling too poorly. Relaxing and healing vibes are sent to you and Wreck.

anibendod I've just checked the holidays for my lot. Thankfully round here they finish in the "teens" of December. The downside of that is that they go back quite early in January.

I've bought wrapping paper, matching gift bags and some Christmas cards from the Bernardo's website and they should arrive tomorrow ready to be stashed away for next year. It's bin day tomorrow and all this year's paper is in the recycling bin ready to be collected.

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 29/12/2021 21:55

Don't even talk about the recycling bin, Woolly. Ours is RAMMED with about another bin's worth in the shed. Thankfully it's our bin day tomorrow too!

23rd seems bloody late. I'm not sure if we'll follow that pattern or not as next year's timetable isn't up yet (unusually). We had INSET on the last day of term this year, so probably will next year too.

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 29/12/2021 22:01

I've checked the infant school (same name, same location, same timetable, but separate schools / heads) and we finish on 20 Dec with 21 Dec as INSET.

TheWoollybacksWife · 29/12/2021 22:15

Fluffy 20/12 is just about a perfect finish date for a parent - close enough to Christmas to avoid getting bored before the big day but still enough time to get properly excited and do a couple of things like a visit to Santa.

I'm conflicted about finishing dates. I want my DDs to finish early and have a proper rest from their duties but I have to entertain and feed a teenager with DS off school 😂. I don't have room for the biscuits and crisps.

Morning!

I've been working since 7. And lucky old me has a Court hearing at 10am for a colleague. The Court should've done it based on the papers, but here we are!

Wreck, did your results come through? How is your DH today?

OP posts:
ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 30/12/2021 08:34

And how are you all as well?

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 30/12/2021 08:39

I haven't taken a PCR yet, waiting for a postal one. I felt really unwell yesterday afternoon and didn't have a great nights sleep. Feel a bit better this morning but still hot and achy with the worst headache. Dh is still in bed Hmm but appears fine.

Vasectomyreversalhopeful · 30/12/2021 09:39

Morning all. I have returned but am sticking to Christmas and conception only! Missed you ladies too much :)

We had a lovely Christmas. Payday is tomorrow so going to start saving for next Christmas. Need to keep an eye out for discounted cards and wrapping paper.

Vasectomyreversalhopeful · 30/12/2021 09:43

Hope you feel better soon wreck! What a nightmare with the PCRs.

Vasectomyreversalhopeful · 30/12/2021 09:46

This year DS finished on the 17th December and returns on the 10th January, too long imo! Just looked at next year and we break up on the 23rd which is too late and go back on the 6th. Basically nothing pleases me Grin

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 30/12/2021 09:47

I thought you'd booked PCRs 20 miles away, Wreck?

Hi, VRH! Good to see you back!

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 30/12/2021 10:07

No I managed to order postal ones as I'm too ill to drive all that way plus dd was being sick yesterday and was too unwell to sit in the car all that time. I've got a Royal Mail notification or delivery today but I can't work out if that's lfts or PCR so will just wait for the postman. I'm actually feeling better in that my headache has finally gone as have the aches but I'm now really dizzy. Hopefully don't go down hill again later.

That is a long holiday, ds goes back on the 5th and dd the 6th (depending on negative lft etc). We break up on Friday 16th next year Shock

TheWoollybacksWife · 30/12/2021 10:16

Vrh I got Bernardo's cards and paper. They were all half price on the website although it was £4.99 delivery 😱 I got 20 cards, 4 rolls of wrapping paper and 8 gift bags for £20. Cards for Charity is another good one.

Nothing will compare to my 3 rolls for £1 In Asda a few years ago. I'm still using that stash but I'm down to 1 full and 1 part roll 😢

sunshineandrain82 · 30/12/2021 10:16

We have our usual term dates. Unfortunately 3 kids in 3 schools and the term dates are different for each.
One breaks up on 14th and goes back the 3rd
One breaks up on the 16th and goes back on the 9th
One breaks up on the 21st and goes back on the 5th.
Trying to entertain 4 children with a large age gap (15,9,5,2) a challenging enough on short dates.

sunshineandrain82 · 30/12/2021 10:18

I mean the 10th not the 9th 😰 I'm bound to get one of them wrong.

PussyCatEatingPigsInBlankets · 30/12/2021 11:14

Morning all.
Fluffy you weren't wrong about Sainsburys...Christmas has been packed away for next year. Xmas Shock 😥
They've also put the screens splitting the tills back up and there's a sign to tell you to follow the non existent one way system. Maybe they were/are expecting another announcement?
Their pharmacy has a big pink sign NO LFTS.
Wreck how has your DH avoided it?! I hope he's doing all the housework etc or he'll have us lot to deal with

WreckTangled · 30/12/2021 11:18

He is doing everything! Although I'm slowly folding the washing... I'm guessing it could be because he had his a few weeks ago so it's working well. Dds lft is negative still, so strange. Will see what the PCR says. It's too coincidental for her not to have it.
