need to make chocolate chip cookies, get a few essentials from the shops (milk and butter), have wrapped all presents but one ( a christmas birthday present so need to get non-xmassy paper) ds wants to make more reindeer food (its granola/musili very yummy) possible because he has eaten most of it all ready and is worried he won't have any left for santas reindeer.

otherthan that I'm gonna sit down and have a nice cup of coffee

LyraSilvertinsel · 22/12/2007 14:32

I need to clean the house (did the bedrooms this morning, the rest will have to wait till tomorrow) and there's still that mountain of wrapping. Maybe the wrapping fairies will come tonight...

crayon · 22/12/2007 18:26

I hate to put a dampner on things, but why are you all cleaing the house and oven before Christmas? Surely unless it is a complete sty, it will need the clean after Christmas?

LyraSilvertinsel · 22/12/2007 19:03

Well I won't be able to enjoy it in a dirty, messy house. So we'll be cleaning before and after Christmas

Bugger.
Blimmin' rubbish collection was today (two days early and they didn't even warn us). Now we're stuck with last week's rubbish till new year.

discoverlife · 22/12/2007 21:50

Cancelling Christmas Eve cinema visit, as probably won't be out of hospital in time. But so far DH has screwed my timetable to bits.
Now have done food shop, use by date on cream is 26th. hope it will be OK.
Still need to get some pressies was supposed to be today, so now it will be Monday and the unwrapped pressy will be in the car when the recipient DD is being picked up, so will have to do wrapping in secret in my bedroom.
Arrrgh wedding aniversary. Why did we get married on the 27th Dec. Whay the hell can I get him now. It will have to be the ribbon again.

discoverlife · 22/12/2007 21:51

supposed to be what the hell

Bubbaloo · 22/12/2007 22:54

Still have the food shop to do tomorrow morning and a few more pressies to wrap.

MulledWino · 22/12/2007 22:55

All that is left for me to do is murder the few remaining people who will ask me if I'm "all ready yet"... [emitts steam from ears]

unknownrebelbang · 22/12/2007 23:52

Get to the airport.

mumeeee · 22/12/2007 23:53

Wrap Presents.
Clean house with the help of Dh and DD 2 and 3. Dh has just cleaned the bathroom. DD>s are going to do a room each tomorrow! I wrote a list of jobs and they each chose one without complaining!

5goldrings4MONKEYBIRDs · 23/12/2007 00:03

see the Northern Lights
kiss my children every day they are little and many more when they are big
have more sex
go to an art gallery again without having to rebuild the ArtCart and have sensible conversation with DH over coffee
make my peace with my excellent parents
work out some spiritual truths
visit my friends in Australia
write a novel
hope I'm not the generation that will never have grandchildren...

...Oh, you mean Christmas?

Bah humbug. Wrap fecking presents. Think of good lies to tell older children about why the baby won't really notice Christmas this year since we TOTALLY forgot he needed presents. I know! Slacker mom alert. But he is my 3rd...

5goldrings4MONKEYBIRDs · 23/12/2007 00:04

I'm with you Wino can you tell?

Exactly, mommaloves, but the older ones will sniff something's amiss if the (4 month old FFS! he's not gonna care is he?!) baby doesn't get one. I hastily added a teether to my Ocado list the other night so we've at least got something to put in his stocking!!!

pixiella · 23/12/2007 13:09

we have to:

  • get the tap in the kitchen sink working
  • grout the kitchen tiles
  • paint the bathroom ceiling
  • fix the TV antenna to the chimney stack
  • take a carload of stuff to the dump which inludes: the old kitchen sink, chunks of kitchen worktops, old kitchen cabinets and a massive roll of old carpet.
  • wash the all the dust off and hoover all the rubble up from the floors
  • finish painting the bedroom, fix the bathroom light to the wall, fix light switch to wall
  • paint kitchen
  • put up blinds on the windows
  • fix broken window
  • put together alot of ikea flat packs
  • put up shelves in kitchen
  • paint skirting boards and windowsills
  • fix showers doors to shower tray
  • clean tiles

-buy xmas tree
-buy bus ticket back from london for waster of a brother in law who went to thailand, ran out of money and couldn't afford a flight home (which we sorted out for him too!)
-renew car tax before the 31st
-buy xmas presents for brother and brother's girlfriend.

why......WHY did i think we could move in together in time for xmas ?????!!!!!

Hulababy · 23/12/2007 13:11

Nothing

Well, almost!

This afternoon: go to my parents (DD already there as slept over) for family party thing with aunties and my nana (her 80th birthday today). Need to collect our presents from them.

Tomorrw: visit PILs and DH's grandad, taing their presents with us. Need to collect our presents from them too.

FairyTaleOfNewYork · 23/12/2007 13:12

i have to wrap dh presents, and a couple of last minute things, find another stocking (i know its here somewhere!), and make sure all the lights are on timers for xmas morning.

motherinferior · 23/12/2007 13:16

Wrap stuff. Cook stuff. Start feeling ho-ho-ho-ish. Hide under bed and hope it will all go away.

Earlybird · 23/12/2007 13:48

Wrappping: 3 very big 'how am I gonna wrap these' presents, half of dd's pressies, sort out stocking (taking Bink's very good suggestion of wrapping stocking items in tissue paper rather than 'proper' paper). Then there are a few last minute errands: do 'top up' food shop, and collect special decadent Christmas cake ordered from gourmet bakery. And finally, bake Christmas cupcakes for the children (the adults will have the aforementioned cake).

For some reason, I am much more organised this year, so not experiencing last minute stressy panic. Could also have something to do with the fact that I steadfastly (selfishly?) did not volunteer to host Christmas Eve at my house....which means it will be my turn next year.
