OP posts:
sorkycake · 20/12/2007 20:36

decorate main tree
buy food
wrap presents, still need to size their present piles to check they look the same and shop accordingly
clean house, though have done oven
er....basically everything

I would panic, but I've just finished a second glass of wine and can't be arsed.

BadKittenInAPearTree · 20/12/2007 20:38

Bit of present wrapping.

Ideally I might hoover, keep up with the washing as well. The rest of housework can go and jump. As I'm feeling very sore and tired I've decided dd and dh would prefer a messy house to a grumpy me. So rest is a big priority

Trip to see dhs relatives on saturday to do present swop. 4-5 hour round trip including M25 just for the afternoon. Hey ho - we are going to stop off at nice pub on route to make it seem a little less daunting.

Pick up turkey. Make mincepies. Slap some icing on the cake.

Thats it.

CliffRichardSucksEggsInHell · 20/12/2007 20:39

Get tree (or a few branches)
Eat chicken and re-use bones as decorations for said tree (or branches)
Get some tags for presents
Wrap presents
Apologise for not sending Christmas cards
Get ds another pressie to replace the one I used today for a birthday present for one of ds's chums
Get pressie for temporary blinded friend (tough one that)
Learn to use full stops

BadKittenInAPearTree · 20/12/2007 20:42

ooooo - dd did that once. Did not sleep at all. Talked all flight. Nightmare!!!! Last time though she slept with her head on my lap and my bum went numb. Still at least that meant I could drink wine in peace

When dh and I travel together we book seats apart so that we can take it in turns to look after her. Different if you've got two kids though.

A huge good luck to you!!!!

clam · 20/12/2007 20:50

Of course, you can only wrap presents when you've actually bought them......... GAH!!!!!!!!

dividedselfridgesxmaswindow · 20/12/2007 20:52

Food shop, all present wrapping, the annual house clean and bi monthly hoover followed by bi weekly bahroom clean, chickens, rabbit and guinea pigs all need a deep clean so I can stop feeling guilty about them over xmas, probably should make a trifle for myself and some more mince pies.

Need to research cooking goose via Google. Think that's it.

BroccoliSpears · 20/12/2007 20:57

Oh god. I answered this thread really early with a smug little "just the food shop", and now I've just read through everyone elses, going

  • oh yeh... and wrap all the presents.
  • Oh yeh... and clean the house.
  • Oh yeh... and drive to Wales to get Granny.
  • Oh yeh... and deliver cards to local friends.
  • Oh yeh, and make mince pies.
  • Oh yeh... and wash the dog...

Where will it end!

get OFF MN and finish this last bit of work before the hols
wrap all DCs and DH's pressies remembering the difference between FC's paper and family paper
do all laundry required so I can pack clothes etc tomorrow (off to my mum's tomorrow night followed by PIL)
charge up batteries or remember to pack battery charger
find the stockings and remember to pack them
test the replacement digital picture frame I had to trek across town to get today because the other one didn't work.

casbie · 21/12/2007 12:57

Cali - don't give drugs. They can be counterproductive (says a mother with experience). Pack Pjs instead and change as soon as you board (the children, that is). DD2 (hellcat) was asleep before we even took off from JFK - but then we did spend 2 hrs on the tarmac...

I still have a bit to do, which would be fine if it didn't mean having to trawl to Meadowhall. Oh my stars, isn't there any other way?

lyra41 · 21/12/2007 13:27

take recycling, as usual there's tonnes.
buy crackers, sprouts, sticky toff pud, xmas pud, stuffing (or ing. for stuffing), ice cream, little sausages and bacon, mincemeat and 1 last present for latest godson.
clean house (sigh, my cleaning lady's ill this week, but may come on Mon), think of a starter for xmas day lunch - any ideas?

lyra41 · 21/12/2007 13:28

Oh and I just put the oven on to clean, so thanks for the reminder whoever put that in their post.

clam · 21/12/2007 17:16

"Put the oven on to clean?" Am I missing something? Why doesn't mine do that? It appears to be sitting there with its arms folded at the moment, up to the hinges in grime. Do Christmas guests look in ovens, or can I leave it as it is?

lyra41 · 21/12/2007 19:21

No one will look, but I still remember the Christmas when the oven filled with smoke (as it was so dirty and unused to being left on for so long) and switched itself off before the turkey and roasties were done! Disaster.

My oven has a self cleaning programme, all done now. [smug]

still got rest to do though

carries · 21/12/2007 20:45

Finish my Tesco order - arriving on Sunday.

Finish wrapping presents

Deliver 3 lots of presents

Deliver neighbours cards.

Make Florentines

Put photo of dds in photo frames

Pick up turkey from butcher (DH will do that)

I feel quite relaxed, so relaxed that we are taking kids and Goddaughter to soft play in morning to burn off nervous energy.

wrappingpaperBOwZZAndribbons · 21/12/2007 20:52

make choc pots

wrappingpaperBOwZZAndribbons · 21/12/2007 20:53

jofeb04 · 21/12/2007 21:14

MuffinMclay · 21/12/2007 21:38
  1. Decorate tree (was going to do it today, but that plan went horribly wrong)
  2. Buy all food (with no idea what to eat, might well end up being fish fingers at this rate) and alcohol
  3. Make crackers
  4. Ice cake
  5. Make mince pies
  6. Clean oven
  7. Clean inside of fridge
  8. Lots of laundry
  9. Bath and trim dog (not particularly Christmassy, but I need dh's assistance and he is home)
