We were supposed to be at my mums tomorrow, but I have Covid (asymptomatic) so we can't go...inspire me with what you are having for your tea please Xmas Smile

I have an 8 and a 10 year old, not overly fussy, and will have time to cook now we aren't going anywhere!

Honey sausages, sausages rolls, crisps !!

RhubarbAndMustard · 23/12/2021 17:34

Definitely picky bits...or piggy dips as we call it. Italian meat, falafel, cheese and biccies, olives, Indian selection, veg and dips, crisps. Mmmmm can't wait. Will be repeating New Year's Eve too.

Rookie93 · 23/12/2021 17:38

Homemade fish pie, with smoked fish and prawns, then apple strudel for afters. Although next year its a takeaway definitely.

actiongirl1978 · 23/12/2021 17:40

We always have spring rolls, sausage rolls, mini sausages, mini burger sliders from Marks and crisps.

I eat salad and fish and try not to give in to the beige food.

hivemindneeded · 23/12/2021 17:43

We'r having roast salmon with ratatouille and new potatoes cooked with lemon and paprika. Then chocolates.

pinkcattydude · 23/12/2021 17:45

I’ll make a curry, the paste is already sat in the fridge, just got to cook it and make the naan and then all done.

CoverYourselfInChocolateGlory · 23/12/2021 17:48

We are having nachos with home made guacamole, salsa, sour cream and cheese. My mum always did this when we were little and as I get older I realise that it was entirely done to be easy, cheap and simple to clean up! We all love nachos though, so we're sticking with it.

bluechameleon · 23/12/2021 17:50

We were meant to be having lasagne, but the mince from the Tesco delivery had a short date so we had that yesterday. Tomorrow we are having pizza.

MrsSanteClaws · 23/12/2021 17:54

We have M&S party food, cranberry topped pork pie, sausage roll thing, mini burgers, spring rolls, mini pizzas, prawn things, crisps, nuts, cheeseboard, antipasti stuff, a couple of salads, a veg chilli and different breads etc.

Rainbows89 · 23/12/2021 17:55

I’m making a sausage pasta bake. Which probably sounds a bit dull, but, it’s very easy and everyone likes it AND I can serve it in my snowman pasta bowls!!

DuesToTheDirt · 23/12/2021 17:59

We're having fondue. I have a rather old book with several recipes in, and we're giving a new one a go - curried cheesy fondue. Very easy and quick to make but feels festive.

lazarusb · 23/12/2021 18:08

Spicy tomato macaroni cheese. Followed by hot chocolate with marshmallows and cream in front of the fire.

CariadWelshcake · 23/12/2021 18:12

Pasta with the last of the homemade tomato sauce made with tomatoes from my last crop. I might add anchovy and olives to it but then again I probably won’t because it really is delicious as it comes. A few shavings of Parmesan cheese on top and a wee salad on the side and Bob’s your uncle.

HolesInMySocks · 23/12/2021 18:13

Take away always!

maddy68 · 23/12/2021 18:13

Faittas. And Nachos

Or takeaway pizzas

Hoolihan · 23/12/2021 18:17

We usually have fish pie or toad in the hole. This year we're going out for a late lunch so later on we'll have a baked camembert and mince pies.

LizzoBorden · 23/12/2021 18:19

Marmalade and honey glazed ham, dauphinois potatoes and spiced red cabbage followed by a bread and butter pudding made with panettone and Cointreau. I have a very full house so going for an easy mass catering option! Lots of champagne.

RoyalFamilyFan · 23/12/2021 18:21

We are having curry and trifle. Life is too short to make a fancy meal the night before Christmas day.

Nc123 · 23/12/2021 18:38

@sadpapercourtesan

We always have "afternoon tea" on Christmas Eve, with Christmas movies and games. This year we will be having:

Garlic and cheese Christmas Tree puff pastry tear and share thing
Sandwiches (cheese and pickle, tuna mayo, egg mayo)
Scones, clotted cream and jam
Soft amaretti biscuits
Stollen
Carrot cake
Victoria sponge
Mini chocolate bundt cakes with ganache, cherries, whipped cream and grated chocolate

Served with very twee doilies and paper plates and cups with Christmas trees on them (we're sad as fuck, aren't we)

We always do a picky tea but I’m not gonna pretend, this sounds AMAZING
Fredstheteds · 23/12/2021 18:40

Ready to oven duck and pancakes

ChimChimeny · 23/12/2021 18:58

@MeatyRvita

We’re having a McDonald’s or a kfc. I just don’t want to cook or do dishes 🤷‍♀️
KFC here too! It has been tradition to have KFC on Christmas eve for a few years. Can't be bothered with cooking Grin
hohohosbeforebros · 23/12/2021 18:59

What exactly are these 'picky bits' people keep mentioning? Because it sounds like something people shouldn't do with acne Confused

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 23/12/2021 18:59

The dc like pasta bake for lunch. We've got an oven pizza & homemade (but frozen) potato skins for dinner once they're in bed (Dh is working tomorrow).

Mushrooms0up · 23/12/2021 19:02

@hohohosbeforebros like party food / buffet food:

Potato skins
Chicken wings
Pizza
Mini sausages
Sausage rolls

Supermarket entertaining ranges, basically fun tasty beige food plus dips and crisps and salads

hivemindneeded · 23/12/2021 19:04

@rrhuth Grin Grin Grin Brilliant!
