We were supposed to be at my mums tomorrow, but I have Covid (asymptomatic) so we can't go...inspire me with what you are having for your tea please Xmas Smile

I have an 8 and a 10 year old, not overly fussy, and will have time to cook now we aren't going anywhere!

Well, we are having an onion and camembert tart for veg DH; smoked salmon and caviar with rye bread for me and hummus and crudites forthe Dcs. - Basically all our favourite things.

But tonight we are doing sausages and mash.

rrhuth · 23/12/2021 15:27

We are having pasta with lentil sauce. I always want something really worthy the night before Christmas so that I am totally ready for the over-eating on Christmas Day. If I have anything rich the night before I might not be able to eat chocolate for breakfast Shock.

There will be a massive dessert for the kids thought I expect.

@Stickytreacle

Wine and cheese evening here!
Oh, sorry to hear you have to work on Christmas Eve Sad
Mushrooms0up · 23/12/2021 15:33

@rrhuth that really made me chuckle Grin

HollyandIvyandAllThingsYule · 23/12/2021 15:34

Me too! Well played.

Chronicallymothering · 23/12/2021 15:39

Shop bought individual pies, mash and peas. Simple.

diddl · 23/12/2021 15:40

Raclette.

Tana433 · 23/12/2021 15:41

We have our Christmas Eve tradition (only 3rd time this year but still!) We have a meat and cheese board with baguettes, coleslaw, potato salad, pickles, chutney, a big bowl of crisps and a lovely bottle of rose wine. Then we watch Scrooge (Albert Finney musical version) on DVD though i have just noticed it is on in the afternoon anyway.

feemcgee · 23/12/2021 15:42

We're going to the local pub on Christmas Eve with our neighbours and the kids for their festive three-courser.

Morethanthis71 · 23/12/2021 15:45

fish pie

Jemimapuddleduk · 23/12/2021 15:47

M&S 3 fish roast with buttered new potatoes, asparagus, broccoli. Then a pistachio, white chocolate and raspberry ice cream log from our amazing local ice cream farm.

Lovemusic33 · 23/12/2021 15:48

We have Dominoes 😊

BOBBY232 · 23/12/2021 15:48

Christmas eve is the basic tea for us, the logic being its Christmas tomorrow and that's our special day.
So it's a lasagne and chips from aldi.
Absolutely no cooking, no washing up.
Spend the evening enjoying decorating the tree as family arrive for the holidays

Autobahn · 23/12/2021 15:51

Something plainer and basic makes sense too, ready for the next day's onslaught!
All the meals sound delicious though Xmas Smile

Hot dogs and home alone for us Smile

BitcherOfBlakiven · 23/12/2021 15:52

As per DCs request -

  • Meatballs with homemade tomato sauce
  • Baked Camembert with the twisty garlic bread
  • Pesto gnocchi
vixeyann · 23/12/2021 15:55

We have a buffet tea before party games with little prizes and some crappy xmas tv. We've got: pizza, chicken party bits, cheese board with fruit, some homemade brownies and a few different cake, crisps, nuts and some little picky bits. Always goes down well with everyone and not too much to chuck in the oven and wash up!

pastapestoparmesan · 23/12/2021 15:55

Spaghetti and meatballs

Opinion4321 · 23/12/2021 15:56

Christmas Eve is always our favourite foods that feel like a treat. I've ordered sushi for me and DH, DS wants lobster and my DD wants Dominos Grin

I'm making a Thai fish curry. Something light before everything coming tomorrow.

Iamblossom · 23/12/2021 16:02

We're having tacos with salsa, guacamole, sour cream, grated cheese and lettuce. Yum

VanGoghsDog · 23/12/2021 16:04

I always have baked potato and baked camembert.

over2021 · 23/12/2021 16:06

Slow roasted pork in rolls with apple sauce and crackling. Put it on in the late morning and eat them after church in the evening. Grin

Pegasussnail · 23/12/2021 16:07

I've bought salad and spring rolls. Mini burgers and fish and chip cones. Just quick and easy in the oven and a little bit more fun than usual
