I haven’t seen a thread yet and it’s becoming somewhat of a tradition to be nosey and look in MNetters Xmas fridges.

Here’s mine, booze is in the garage!

@Tillsforthrills

Those turning up to shit on everyone’s parade just go away. You have no idea what’s going on in peoples lives and a stacked fridge means nothing, you don’t know what people may have dealt with this year and if this lighthearted thread gives a bit of cheer then that’s fine.
This ^^

Do they go round the whole internet trying to control what people should and shouldn't post?

Probably.

@HollyandIvyandAllThingsYule

Worthy, self-righteous, virtue signalling nonsense. Just stop it.
Bravo. I couldn't agree more. Bore off, virtue signallers!
HollyandIvyandAllThingsYule · 23/12/2021 11:33

Peace and goodwill to all, btw. 🎄🎄🎄

I’m being extra forceful because I don’t want a hundred keyboard warriors barging their way in. Any more and I’ll be reporting them as beyond a certain point it becomes malicious. You don’t like it? You’re free to show yourself out.

(Drawing a line now.)

On bananas, that’s correct, it doesn’t affect the fruit in any way, it’s just skin turns black.

Potatoes are much better off kept in a cool, dark, most importantly dry place, so the fridge really isn’t the best place for them. But it won’t matter now as it’s only a few days.

We have a very small fridge. The turkey arrives today and it’s going to take up a third of the space!

beastlyslumber · 23/12/2021 11:39

I don't care about the potatoes and bananas. But what's with all the fridge eggs! Noooooo the only kind of eggs that should be kept in the fridge are the chocolate kind.

You can also keep chocolate potatoes and bananas in the fridge.

HollyandIvyandAllThingsYule · 23/12/2021 11:42

@MrsMcCluskeysChristmasTree just making it absolutely clear that my rant(s) were not directed at you personally, because you actually sound lovely. I think your suggestion was made in good faith and you didn’t go overboard with virtue signalling hand wringing. 🌷

DaydreamerBetty · 23/12/2021 11:44

We are entertaining this year and have desserts, gammon and beef in the back fridge. I think I may have gone over board.

Nope chocolate does not belong in the fridge!!

@IsThisIt2021

Mines like jenga in there, I dare not even open the door. Somehow I’ve got to get the gammon in there to defrost for Christmas Eve and the Turkey & beef to defrost for Christmas Day. Not sure how I’m going to do that!

Glad it's not just me!

Looking at these photos makes me think a need a bigger fridge.

Thanks I understand and totally agree with you about the amount of virtue signalling on this years and last years threads! Xmas Smile

FoxInABox · 23/12/2021 11:50

My fridge is quite small so I’m very jealous of some peoples lovely big fridges on here! Also everyone who has a second fridge. Living the dream!

InvincibleInvisibility · 23/12/2021 11:59

I have tried it and potatoes lasted better in the fridge.

Eggs are in fridge from habit from copying my mum. But we have more space in the fridge than other cupboards

Tinsellittis · 23/12/2021 11:59

@alphabetsoup1980

What an insensitive thread.... 'Look at all the food and wine I have!!!' Given the current climate and the millions depending on food banks, this is truly horrid...
Oh do behave Hmm
lilly7221w · 23/12/2021 12:17

Honestly it's not as though people don't know that other people may have a lot more. I think it's wise to avoid threads that upset you.

I am home alone, so there's very little in my fridge, it doesn't upset me. some of the disorganised fridges make me twitch though. 😂

BrendaBulldog · 23/12/2021 12:29

Would it even be Christmas without having a full shelf dedicated to cheese? Grin

@minmooch

Full of 'just in case' food!
PHWOAR. look at that double door fridge at @minmooch’s house! I seriously want that fridge.
supergloo · 23/12/2021 12:38

I would but I have the tiniest fridge and am afraid something will fall out of I open it!

where do you keep your vegetables?
supergloo · 23/12/2021 12:40

I've just had a look and genuinely..where do some of you keep your vegetables?

minmooch · 23/12/2021 12:40

@JingsMahBucket thanks - it is rather phwoar!! 3 years on I still love it.

Moaningturtle · 23/12/2021 12:57

I need a fridge education. What fruit and veg is acceptable to refrigerate and what can I leave in the cupboard/chilly utility?

It’s definitely NOT because I have just bought more cheese and pate and need the space…..absolutely not.

Yes me too! I wasn't asking to be "funny". I am Australian (living in UK) and EVERYTHING goes in the fridge. My 2 bottom "crispers" are rammed with vegetables (aubergine, carrots, parsnips, lettuce, kale, spring onions, celery, peppers, beetroot, cucumber, cabbage).
ExplodingCarrots · 23/12/2021 13:09

Yes yes yes I know my eggs are in the fridge .
I've still got to make my coleslaw and sausage plaits so that's why I've tried to leave some space. I feel much more relaxed now the fridge is sorted Grin

I'm collecting cheese from Booths and our local cheese shop tomorrow, so I will be sharing my fridge once it's fully-loaded.

I'm with the 'virtue signallers can FTFO' camp as well. Dear god, must we only join in with competitive misery on MN? We are allowed a corner of joy and fun on MN. If you want to be a misery, the Covid board is that way >>> and will welcome you with open, hyperbolic, arms. Xmas Hmm Xmas Angry

@Benjispruce5

Potatoes and bananas in the fridge? I can’t cope!
I know, the bananas really took my by surprise 😆
liveforsummer · 23/12/2021 13:19

@Moaningturtle you can definitely get rid of the potatoes and free up some space
