Kids breakfast on Christmas day

Looking for inspiration really. I have 4 and 2 yo boys. Both going abit nuts for Christmas this year. Not quite sure what to do them for Christmas day breakfast though that's special but also not going to make them go loopy on sugar. I always have bacon and cream cheese bagel, DH has salmon. Neither of which my boys will eat with gusto. Any suggestions? Dont particularly want to be slaving away cooking on the big day

Xmas tree shaped crumpets. Fresh orange juice and a satsuma.

EducatingArti · 06/12/2021 12:03

Pigs in blankets in a bread roll?

caringcarer · 06/12/2021 12:08

I must be the Grinch. My rule when the kids were small no chocolate until after lunch. We had lunch at around 1pm. I used to give them scrambled eggs for breakfast with toast and sausage. After.lunch they could eat as much chocolate as they wanted.

twilightermummy · 06/12/2021 12:24

Thanks *Oakdene** that’s fab! I’m definitely going to be using that Christmas Day 😊

FireworkParrot · 06/12/2021 12:35

When I was growing up it was always, always chocolate for breakfast on Christmas morning.

We now do smoked salmon bagels for breakfast and DDs have just butter on theirs as they don't like salmon or cream cheese, maybe with some blueberries on the side if I'm feeling too guilty about all the crap they'll be eating the rest of the day Xmas Wink. I always put a gingerbread man in their stockings though and that is usually eaten immediately so technically their breakfast is just a load of sugar!

goose1964 · 06/12/2021 12:41

My grandson will have mince pies during present opening followed by brunch of bacon and eggs.

MrsHookey · 06/12/2021 14:35

They could be up from 4am onwards. I would go with selection boxes and then something dead easy for when they crash.

VickyEadieofThigh · 07/12/2021 14:39

@Createausernametoday

This is so MN
Isn't it? I don't know how anyone has room for the immense Xmas dinner after these breakfasts.
Createausernametoday · 07/12/2021 23:36

Methinks 95% is fabricated 😂

ColdTattyWaitingForSummer · 07/12/2021 23:42

Maybe it depends what time you have your Christmas dinner? My dps ate around one, so the croissants and coffees were perfect. My ex in-laws ate more like five, so it makes sense they did the big cooked breakfast. My side also did “Christmas tea” in the evening as well (cold meat, salads, and such, followed by Christmas cake or Yule log) which not everyone does. And I think some of the fancy Santa pancakes and things are cute! Xmas Grin

We have a huge breakfast, and I've never had Christmas dinner earlier than 5pm, so it's more of a brunch.

AnotherMansCause · 08/12/2021 21:00

@VickyEadieofThigh we usually have Christmas dinner mid afternoon. DD would be complaining bitterly & DH would have gone off in a hanger strop if there wasn’t any breakfast… I usually have a smoothie, for Christmas I splash out & get some berries instead of banana. Waffles are too much for me TBH.

BarbaraLoganPrice · 14/12/2021 16:33

Surely a typical MN response would be a small green grape cut in half and a wafer thin slice of ham because anything more would mean they would be too full to move for the rest of the day?
Strangevipers · 14/12/2021 16:33

Selection box

tootiredtospeak · 14/12/2021 16:43

Mine just have a normal cereal for breakfast then ten tons of chocolate crisps and shit. Then possibly one vegetable and one potato from their lunch.

Christmas1988 · 14/12/2021 16:46

Slice of panettone? That’s what we are having and the children love it too, So easy!

IamGusFring · 14/12/2021 17:03

@Bellafrenum

I'm doing Christmas tree shaped crumpets just with butter - that's if I can get them. Also a Kellog's variety pack of cereals as they love them. Me and DH will have fancy marmalade on toast with some sort of extra nice bread.
You can get in M and S .
SilverBelle · 14/12/2021 17:06

A buffet of fruit salad, pannettone, cold sliced meats and cheeses, and a glass of red wine. (Italian background.)

MrKlaw · 14/12/2021 17:55

can't remember the brand, but they do microwavable mini pancakes or regular thick pancakes. Super fast and then you can get some toppings ready.

cherish123 · 14/12/2021 18:38

Toast and fruit or yoghurt. They won't be interested in breakfast

CheshireDing · 14/12/2021 18:52

We have cinnamon swirls so you can make in advance them just re warm in the oven, so they make the house smell all Christmasy too

2021namechanger · 14/12/2021 19:02

When I was little my dad would do me a plate of things like sausage rolls, pork pies, coleslaw etc. I looked forward to it so much (I still ask for it now if I stay there - and I’ll 40).

DebbieHarrysCheekbones · 14/12/2021 19:09

@KurtWildesChristmasNamechange

We have crispy bacon sandwiches mmmm 😋
Same here

My three also shovel a palm oil rich Cadbury selection box alongside it like weirdos Grin

emmafou1807 · 14/12/2021 19:13
