I’ve taken the liberty of making us a shiny new thread!

I just cover my decorated cake with a clean tea towel.

Photo of wreath above fireplace with DH’s Christmas lights on garland. They are 70 years old, his dad bought them to go around his cot!

Oh how lovely @Trumpton. I love decorations that have family history behind them!

This is one of the arrangements I did today.

Poncing slowed down a bit here but the tree is up, its a very random evergreen esq thing I bought on the roadside but hey at least this year it doesn't have thorns.
Hoping to get some serious baking done over the next couple of days to deliver to neighbors and friends on christmas eve. Yesterdays brandy snaps filed miserably so going to be sticking to shortbread and gingerbread which I know I can do well.

Gingerbread mini houses to sit on mugs of hot chocolate made by Dgc.

Decanting my gins here, found a small bottle from last year of sloe gin that I never got round to adding sugar syrup to, oh wise ones is it salvageable at all? The crab apple gin made from the apples themselves wasn't a patch on the one made with crabapple jelly, more like a rhubarb gin whereas the jelly one was like a liqueur or dessert wine. My greenery is sitting in a bucket of water patiently waiting to fulfil its Christmas glory, you are all waaay ahead of me, looking good,
compliments to you all.

The sloe gin should be fine. I think you are supposed to mature it but I have never managed that !

Ps glass is tiny and so is candle. I just looked at the photo and the glass looks huge.. it’s a liqueur glass from the charity shop, I love old glass.

So many lovely wreaths! And those little gingerbread houses are adorable!

My cake is done. I haven't got anything now enough to cover it so it's just sat out on the side.

Is everyone feeling ready? We are doing an early Christmas before we set off to see family so today is our fake Christmas Eve. Think I'm about there. Just a couple of last minute presents to wrap and then onto the mulled wine and mince pies!

I am kind of ready . Unfortunately I woke up with a horrific sore throat and have a banging headache to boot today . Half my team at work have tested positive. Not happy at all atm .

@SleighQueen your cake is a masterpiece. Thank m about to sling marzipan on mine and then plain icing tomorrow. I prefer my cake undressed but DH likes the icing.

I have been toM&S for food order and now at Drs with mil who needs blood test results explained. We moved her in with us yesterday as she wasn’t coping in her bungalow.. she is 98 and very frail now.
She is a sweetie so we hope this stage is a happy one for her.

I was on last thread but catapulted off.

We have been in Christmas mode for a while now. Put the trees up first week in December. Have decided it’s too early really.

I went to a wreath making afternoon and made my fist ever wreath. Some were stunning. Mine show’s my impatience! But it’s still on the door even if bits of it keep falling off!

I made Delia’s Creole cake and marzipaned it earlier. Will ice it tomorrow.

Made mince pies yesterday. Not to self - shop bought are fine! Mine look very rustic! Even with shop bought pastry and mincemeat.

I have no wrapping done. Zero. It’s only DH, DS and me here for Christmas so not too bad.

DH and I did the big shop this morning so we are now at the stage of if we don’t have it now - tough.

I need to strain the marmalade gin later. Bottles are currently in the dishwasher.

Boxes with Christmas crockery and table linens etc are in the hall so I need to sort out what I think we will use.

Loving everyone’s real,trees. I’m allergic so it’s fake here sadly. Will attach some photos.

I fell off the thread a while ago but I have made dd1 a reindeer dick (word of the moment is "willy" 🙄).

My village isn't quite finished; a crochet praying mantis, as the promise of a mantis when it's warmer for posting, has taken priority for dd2's birthday.

@HollyandIvyandAllThingsYule many many thanks for the gingerbread house cutter - we baked and assembled one today, and have a second lot of dough for me to try some fancy piping. I think more sweets were eaten than made it onto the house 🤣

I've iced my dad's cake too, after a disaster earlier in the week. I just want to think of something small to go on the sleigh...🤔 and dd1 took over the kitchen to make cranberry sauce (which I had to buy port for, of course!) - I'd share more pics but MN still has the 6 pics limit, which I didn't realise 🤷‍♀️

I'm going to catch up with what you've all been up to now but just wanted to wish you all a peaceful and happy Christmas

@lucysmam could you put some colourful sweets like wine gums or midget gems that would look like presents? Or little wrapped chocolates like Neapolitans?

Sittling quietly in the kitchen before mil wakes up.
Dgd “borrowed” my squirts cream so I had to whip my own for my hot chocolate and mini gingerbread house this morning.
All poncing done here.
I have enjoyed this thread so much.
Paperwhites in full bloom.

Some extra last minute poncing having to take place here as we where supposed to be hosting friends who where bringing half the food but they've been hit by covid so now I am trying to last minute scramble a christmas dinner together with food we already have. Luckily i have a beef joint in the freezer as they where bringing the turkey (my oven is to small for one). I am working until 5pm today and its an hour drive to he nearest supermarket at that time so hoping to avoid the shops if at all possible.

Beef dinner it is @forressttheouut. I’m sure it will come together. Bit of a shock to have half your dinner missing. DD1 has half out veg to prepare today. I hadn’t thought about the risk of plan unraveling.

I did so much baking yesterday that my legs hurt. Here’s a pic of a stack of Nigella’s Christmas Rocky Road made with gluten free ginger biscuits and veggie marshmallows to accommodate everyone.

Happy Christmas Eve everyone. I’m off to make Delia’s parsnip roulade.

@onthehillnotoverit it hadn't occured to me either until they called this morning. Luckily being an hour from the shops means im pretty well stocked at all times.
Had a very productive lunch hour and now have 24 shortbread rounds and 30 gingerbread stars cooling which i will ice later to drop off to various neighbours and friends nearby. There's an additional 20 semi burn stars and 10 shortbreads for me and DP but i don't think I'll bother icing them

DD1 has just made us utterly poncetastic hot chocolates with edible gold leaf flakes and gold glitter - and we're just settling down to watch Polar Express.
