Has everyone who placed an order with the glitchy code either received items or a cancellation notice/refund?

@PPCD

It might not technically be theft but it is morally wrong
I'm not sure it is. Jl were under no obligation to fulfil the orders, they could have cancelled them due to a pricing error. They chose not to.

Fwiw I missed it too so I'm not justifying my own behaviour by saying that.

I agree. But each to their own. I order a lot from JL, but declined to take advantage of this glitch as it feels ‘grabby’. It’s about having principles, and I value mine more than some free stuff
canyoutoleratethis · 24/11/2021 21:04

@Sparklfairy why is it only morally wrong if you get caught? The fact JL didn’t cancel orders doesn’t magically make it right. Morals are what you have when nobody is watching….

Martinisarebetterdirty · 24/11/2021 21:05

I got two items delivered and another four have been returned to JL without delivery being attempted. Two of those have been refunded and I have an open case with JL asking why they were returned.
On the two refunds I’m getting what I paid per item (so original cost less £20).

MammaGnomes · 24/11/2021 21:22

I went back in for wrapping paper and when I went to checkout my basket was at full price. I don't think I'll ever fully get over it

Sparklfairy · 24/11/2021 21:23

@canyoutoleratethis "caught"? John Lewis knew it was an error and dispatched them anyway.

Its not morally wrong to order during a glitch. A couple of people on the other thread said they told friends and knew people that had taken the absolute piss being greedy, but grabbing a bargain, glitch or not, is not in itself morally wrong.

awishes · 24/11/2021 21:27

Yes I have received everything I ordered, very strange that they didn't cancel all the orders. PR disaster if they had I guess.
And no I don't feel guilty.

ssd · 24/11/2021 21:37

Id love to actually know what folks got and what they paid, am well jell

WrongWayApricot · 24/11/2021 21:47

Are JL honouring the glitch prices then? Or they charged the full amount? Or will people return stuff?

ElementalIllusions · 24/11/2021 21:52

I paid for next day delivery for Monday,

It hasn’t been canceled or dispatched,
and I can’t cancel it as it just says the order is being processed.
So I don’t know what’s going on.

Bishbashboshing · 24/11/2021 21:54

Really happy for those who received their orders. My order got cancelled, just waiting for the refund.

ssd · 24/11/2021 21:54

It sounds like they are honouring the orders

JollyHostess · 24/11/2021 21:54

@AnotherOne4

I didn't make good choices and ended up spending £80. One of the items is the Black Opium perfume. But there were a couple of Neom items that I'm finding it very hard to part with 😂

Kendodd · 24/11/2021 21:56

Oh that's really bad. I'm glad I missed it as it must be so tempting to take advantage. Other shops I'd have a lot less difficulty taking advantage of a glitch but because John Lewis is a partnership, it wouldn't feel right.

Itsajollytime · 24/11/2021 21:57

@WrongWayApricot
JL are honouring the glitch prices
They cannot charge the full amount.
If you return an item, as each item is listed as having a discount code attached, you would only receive 'what you paid for it' this means that an item priced at £22.50 would generate a refund of £2.50. (£22.50- £20 discount code)

Imitatingdory · 24/11/2021 21:58

I have received everything, and don't feel guilty. JL could have cancelled my order if they so wished. Just as Curry's recently cancelled others' orders for the very cheap laptop, and in previous years M&S cancelled posters' orders for the sofas and footstools.

I don't see it as any different to using Vodafone/Argos/M&S/Matalan/student/blue light codes that aren't 'yours'. Or the Curry's £5 code glitch or WHSmiths stacking codes... Or the Lego points glitch that allowed me to get £100 off for £10 worth of points.

Some of the items I ordered have now been reduced at JL anyway, for instance DS2's AirPod pros are now only £5 more expensive than when I got them.

ssd · 24/11/2021 22:04

I think jl is the sort of company to hold their hands up and own their mistakes, im not surprised they honoured these orders

Kendodd · 24/11/2021 22:05

Jl were under no obligation to fulfil the orders, they could have cancelled them due to a pricing error.

Well that's very honorable on JL and see down thread other stores glitches cancelled orders. Even more reason not to take advantage of JL imo.

DockOTheBay · 24/11/2021 22:09

I've received everything that I ordered. Unfortunately I now have £100 worth of YSL stuff I have no use for.
I'm really really kicking myself for not making a second order. I ordered the first few things that came into my head and then checked out quickly because I was sure the glitch would be discovered and disappear any minute. Then the grumps on the thread made me doubt myself so I didn't go back and make a second order. I've since thought of loads of things that I was planning to buy anyway which I could have got with the discount.

Still, DD will be happy with her lego set and DN with some chocolates from Hotel Chocolat and I got a few playmobil bits to put into the charity toy drive.

WrongWayApricot · 24/11/2021 22:12

@Itsajollytime thanks, that's nice of JL, glad it went that way.

WotgunShedding · 24/11/2021 22:30

All of my order came in two deliveries on Monday and Tuesday. Really didn’t think it would go through as I placed the order after 6 - I think they fixed it very soon after.

Blahblahblow · 24/11/2021 22:47

Yep definitely morally wrong to take advantage like this.

If you took part in it, I would keep quiet irl about it. People will judge.

Itsajollytime · 24/11/2021 22:50

The people I've told thought it was a great bonus ! But were annoyed that I hadn't told them about the glitch so they could take advantage too.

So no judgement, just disappointment that they missed out.

DockOTheBay · 24/11/2021 23:32

Same g here
PriamFarrl · 24/11/2021 23:39

Do they have to honour it?
It it not the same as if an item in a store has had the wrong label on it? The store aren’t obligated to sell it to you at the incorrect price.
