Shit baubles

IDidntFloatUpTheLaganInABubble · 18/11/2021 19:09

Every year when the DC were little we would choose a few new baubles/tree decorations for our trees. It was a little tradition we had and there always seem such a wide selection to choose from.

Trying to find nice baubles now seems to be an impossible task, I don't want badly glued glittery rubbish and I certainly don't want baubles in the shape of sushi, balloon animals or bloody tacos that seem to be so popular in John Lewis currently.

Anyone got any recommendations for lovely baubles, we have a traditional green tree with red, green and white decorations a green tree with blue, silver and white decorations.

Have tried just about everywhere I can think of online and the high street.

Following
I have been looking for the same, something traditional or colourful.

There’s a Christmas shop in London look on line and a Welovexhristmas website

Try those

Glad it's not just me, as much as I love some of the decorations I don't want an under the sea themed Christmas tree thanks John Lewis Hmm

You could try some good garden centres that have gift departments, as most will stock seasonal items such as Christmas decorations. We have bought quite a few nice decs from these.

I know what you mean though about the gimmicky tat and completely non-Christmassy baubles around in recent years.

Talipesmum · 18/11/2021 22:33

Yes I was also going to say garden centres. Ours seems relatively untouched by the comedy bauble thing. Lots of gisela Graham etc.

IDidntFloatUpTheLaganInABubble · 18/11/2021 22:37

Now garden centers I haven't tried. I don't drive so don't really ever venture out to them, hadn't occurred to me they would stock decorations.

DH is blissfully unaware he shall be driving me to one next week, he'll be so pleased. Thanks for the suggestion.

Cox and Cox do well with decorations. I got some beautiful glass baubles from them last year.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 18/11/2021 22:42

Liberty has a nice selection if you're in London.

GatoradeMeBitch · 18/11/2021 22:43

Paperchase is selling a vegan sausage roll bauble...

Luredbyapomegranate · 18/11/2021 22:43

Etsy / NOTHS/ craft shops, individual makers - there are lots of lovely Christmas decorations and baubles out there.. just step away from Tesco and co..

MoreRainbowsPlease · 18/11/2021 22:47

I find the range has a large selection of pretty, proper christmassy baubles. They are very well priced as well. I love having a look round their aisles.

IDidntFloatUpTheLaganInABubble · 18/11/2021 22:47

@delilahbucket I have some lovely baubles from Cox and Cox that I purchased about 6 years ago and still use them every year.

I purchased two different lots of baubles and a decoration from them last year and was so shocked at the poor quality of them, glue residue on them and paint scratches. It all got returned and has really put me off them.

Is there a Haskins near you? Not sure if they're based just in Southern England or all of UK but they do some incredible stuff, the displays in the shops are amazing! But I totally get when you say about crap decorations that actually have no connection whatsoever to Christmas or Winter....

IDidntFloatUpTheLaganInABubble · 18/11/2021 22:50

@TheYearOfSmallThings I am and would normally have a mooch around Liberty of a weekend but the last couple of weekends have been insanely busy in the west end. I think I am going to avoid it now until after the new year sales...I will have a look on the website though.

Christmas markets tend to have some lovely ones if you have time to visit some this year, though those may start after you want your tree up. Are they even going ahead this year actually?

I have no idea what people are playing at with their sushi and avocado on toast baubles.

So classy.

IDidntFloatUpTheLaganInABubble · 18/11/2021 22:53

Have never been to a Range or a Haskins, never even heard of Haskins, am in London.

I shall investigate both thanks.

And @GatoradeMeBitch there's just no need is there. The only vegan sausage roll I am remotely interested in is one from Greg's Smile

@Luredbyapomegranate i was looking on NOTH earlier but nothing grabbed me. I don't want anything personalised. I shall revisit though.

@JesusIsAnyNameFree who the hell designs such utter tat and why?! Why would anyone want those on their tree?!

Katerurn · 18/11/2021 22:58

I've always loved Gisela Graham decorations

Ikr 😂😂

I am hoping my boys will take after their daddy and be completely disinterested in my Christmas tree. I do a fabulous scandi tree and if any odd shapes and colours come close to it I may die 😂

Pretty similar to mine but I prefer mine a bit more sparsely decorated: images.app.goo.gl/LgyrLG4WDGcwy1gw6

IDidntFloatUpTheLaganInABubble · 18/11/2021 23:12

@JesusIsAnyNameFree I love that look and it is not to dissimilar to mine.

I am very particular and now the DC are older they know not to touch the tree. Sometimes they'll move something just to see if I notice, I always do!

TK Maxx have some really beautiful baubles in amongst the weird ones.

The range is also similar, some are shoddy but not all.

timtam23 · 18/11/2021 23:32

TK Maxx have a lot of Christmas decorations, there are more than a few in the style of fast food/glittery avocados etc but they also had some lovely more traditional decorations when I looked a week or so ago

Holidaytan · 18/11/2021 23:37

Garden centres are the best for tasteful, classic baubles

stayathomegardener · 18/11/2021 23:53

Try eBay for hand blown Polish glass baubles
