Thinking this thread could be used to post a quick list of what you still need to buy on your Christmas Gift list this year and people can maybe point out or offer any bargains / places / where you could get those items reduced.

Still outstanding for me:

  • Minnie Mouse Jumperoo
  • Jo Malone perfume
  • Amazon Kindle x3
  • A stuffed dog teddy

Almost all of them. the only ones we've got so far are for DD, we've almost finished hers, and a few little stocking fillers for everyone else. I told myself last year that I wouldn't be as unorganised, I was still doing shopping the week before Christmas last year, but I don't feel any more organised this year to be honest.

Still to get:

  • DD's main present - still undecided between a Tonie Box or Yoto player, she's 2 so I'm not sure which would be best.
  • Dsis has requested an ole henriksen skincare set
  • beer keg vouchers for BIL
  • DH was going to get Tile trackers but now looking at the Samsung smart tags instead
  • DM pjs and a body shop gift set
  • a couple of bits for friends children, all boys between 2 and 6, but unsure what yet
  • something for DFIL and DMIL but they are the hardest people in the world to buy for so will probably just end up with an afternoon tea voucher or something similar

@ByeBumpHiBaby

I've ordered one gift for DD (a Hatchimals Crystal Flyer) and got one gift for DSD (Mickey Mouse waffle maker).

That's all! Need inspiration for family members so will keep checking back here @Newdad19 Smile

Also got a new baby, will buy a few bits for him for his older sisters benefit mostly, maybe some clothes in the next size up and some books. Perhaps a Jumperoo to put away for next year when he'll be big enough.

We are in the same position with the nee baby. Hunting for the jumperoo on a good discounted price in prep for next year!

I haven't bought one single Christmas present. We still have 3 birthdays so I usually buy after the birthdays. My kids are all older so it's not a worry to get 1st in line for things like some years, although last year the PS5 was a pain, plus our shops weren't opened where I live so everyone and their granny was online buying.

I don't know what to buy, they all say they don't want anything, it was so much easier when they use to do their big Christmas lists, even though I'd dread what was on it. Even if I buy a few clothes that's a blooming fortune.

I need to get my thinking cap on soon.

girlmom21 · 18/11/2021 15:49

@Newdad19 check Facebook marketplace for a jumperoo. I got one that's £70 in the shops for £25 in great condition and they don't use it for very long!

I got our baby (12 weeks) some mega blocks and a building table, and an interactive Fisher price puppy toy. We're not buying her any more toys because she won't understand

girlmom21 · 18/11/2021 15:52

@ninjashark have a look at this for your MIL (although I obviously don't know what she's into!) www.bookishly.co.uk/products/coffee-and-book-club-subscription

Everything! Paring it right back this year. Christmas is ridiculous these days. Excessive. Especially on the back of worries about the planet. Racking our brains to think of something to buy someone who doesn’t need anything!

sunshineandshowers40 · 18/11/2021 15:56

I have a list on my phone and lots of things in baskets waiting for me to order then. I really don't seem to be able to motivate myself this year.

LunaLoveFood · 18/11/2021 15:59

@Newdad19 I've been keeping an eye on some power tools, dh wants a new jigsaw and I want new batteries for the lawn mower. Also a firestick (which have already been reduced so must order). Haven't decided on the rest, I think there are some Nintendo games and accessories and lego bits. Ds has just announced he wants a giant bean bag so I'll have to start looking.

This is why I buy early so I get things people will actually enjoy rather than Christmas tat.
gogohm · 18/11/2021 16:02

Everything, not even sure whose cooking yet!!! It's only November, I don't normally start until 2nd week December Grin. Amazon, other online and a trip to M&S sorts out 95% of gifts, do pick up stocking stuffers from Aldi too

gogohm · 18/11/2021 16:04

@doorornottodoor me too. Not about the money, it's the waste. Thinking of getting the (adult) kids a trip to the west end - nice hotel, show, cocktails etc maybe, will cost more but we can make memories rather than more tat they don't need

ninjashark · 18/11/2021 16:05

Thanks @girlmom21
She's into her books but has a kindle she uses every day so I'm not sure if something like that would be up her street. I will show it to DH though!

doorornottodoor · 18/11/2021 16:06

@Fallagain honestly nobody in my family including myself needs anything, that’s the problem. I feel anxious just thinking about it all! The buying, wrapping, unwrapping, putting away, charity shop run. It’s crazy!

Peanut82 · 18/11/2021 16:06

@girlmom21 thanks I'll take a look

Angel2702 · 18/11/2021 16:07

@Athrawes

It's more than a month away! All of them.
Lots of things I’ve tried to order for the kids are out of stock or have delivery dates after Christmas.

We got a giant bean bag from rucomfy a couple of years ago and the quality was great and it's still going strong. I think they have some good deals on just now as well

DinosaurOfFire · 18/11/2021 16:25

@PandaP0p those who - generally - life Christmas made me laugh... because I feel like many of us on this board think Christmas is for life not just for- well, Christmas!

Lovemusic33 · 18/11/2021 16:34

Just my DF (my dad) to buy for and a few little bits to add to other people gifts.

Almost finished. I try and get it done by the 1st of December.

MeltedButter · 18/11/2021 16:40

I've got to buy matching Christmas pyjamas for myself, husband and two sons! A bit cringe I know! We have never done anything like that before but thought we would do it since this is the first year we are doing Xmas Eve boxes.

It's hard to find ones that have adult sizes aswell as for my 1 year old.

Abraxan · 18/11/2021 16:42

All but one to buy.

I ordered DD's MacBook yesterday so one gift is on its way to us, though won't arrive for a week or two.

I don't tend to start doing much Christmas wise before December tbh. I order everything online pretty much anyway and most of the people I order for will have a 'wish list' type of thing going, so not too difficult to organise when I need to.

PositiveLife · 18/11/2021 16:45

A couple of bits for my kids and stuff for secret santa at work. Everything else is sorted.

snugglyblanket · 18/11/2021 16:48

Just DH to buy for. Doesn't need anything, hobby is his work so not short of anything. I've already got the traditional socks!

I buy early to avoid busy shops, the idea of a big festive shop with the hustle & bustle is much nicer than the reality. I give myself time to wrap before DC break up for holidays & have gifts ready for people we will see in the run-up. 5 weeks can fly by, especially if you factor in stuff like work, DC activities & Christmas activities too. Then there's the possibility of covid.

I'm isolating for 10 days. Between myself & DC isolating, I've spent over 2 weeks stuck in the house. Fine for online shopping (while I've been well enough), not so much for in store shopping.

foxgoosefinch · 18/11/2021 16:49

I still need to get:

  • some prints made from a previous photoshoot
  • gift bags for teacher presents
  • 2 x extra bottles of mini Prosecco to add to teacher presents
  • cat toy for mum’s cat (need to take DD on a shopping trip so she can choose it 🤣)
  • instax camera for DD plus film

I think I’ve got pretty much everything else. Though I’m sure there’s something massive I have forgotten and will only remember around 22 December!

Asda have got some cute Mickey Mouse ones at the moment - matching baby grows, childrens pyjamas and adults pyjamas
