Standing in for @Reastie as thread 10 was filling up quickly...

To do click links you do this put link in here then a space then the name or phrase you want to go with the link . Don’t put a space between the start of the link or the last word next to the like I have or it won’t work but I had to to demonstrate.

Some top tips from thelegohooverer:

My tips are:
check out companies on trustpilot before ordering
be wary of companies that only have email/contact firms for customer services and no phone numbers or addresses (unless of course you enjoy meaningless replies from bots)
keep a list of what you’ve ordered so you can follow up if something doesn’t arrive. Sometimes it’s a numbers game where they’re betting on people not following up on missing orders.
check where things are shipped from, particularly if you need them quickly. I’ve got caught out waiting for the slow boat from China when I thought I was ordering locally.
I’ve started using Revolut to avoid putting in my main bank details (and it helps me budget)

Aliexpress have lots of stuff very cheap, order early as it’s all delivered from Chinahere. Be aware some items are a bit knock off in quality and safety, check reviews and be aware. Clothes can come up v small and take the photos with a pinch of salt as a guide for what you will receive.

@NoWordForFluffy

We got a Switch last year when the kids were 6 and 7. The amount of time it's spent in the bloody cupboard due to arguments is something else though! 🙈🤣
Haha, thanks! Yeah my son is 2 so I'm thinking they are Abit young - which is what I suspected. Nice try hubby ☺️
Bopahula · 10/10/2021 18:33

@Adelais
My DD is 8 and to be honest that case you've tagged is a little bit too young. It looks like the makeup is just in the play range still.

Claire's have a reasonable range but even that can be on the young side.

You're as good to buy some palettes in boots (around £4-£6 each) and get some brushes from B&M and make up your own set.

My DD struggles with her eyes being sensitive with some of those younger palettes. She likes the body shop set but it's a bit more muted.

Don't forget to get a decent remover that's really gentle too. The little dinky pot or chamomile cleanser from body shop is really gentle on younger skin too.

Does anyone have a spare Argos voucher please? I have a collection of (bargain) toys I would like to buy.

dementedma · 10/10/2021 18:55

Looking for good jigsaw for sis, 1000 pieces or over.

EvilPea · 10/10/2021 18:57

@JanuaryEl5ieBill

DD's hooded beach towel is now too small so looking for a new one. Would a Next version of the oodie work do you think? Don't fancy braving the city to go to the big primary!
I got my children’s in decathlon
DoucheCanoe · 10/10/2021 19:09

@guineapigs I have a £10 off £75 spend if that's any use?

RJnomore1 · 10/10/2021 19:12

@Motherofplants I’ve got one for DH I’ll get a photo tomorrow when he’s at work

nicky2512 · 10/10/2021 19:16

@RJnomore1 I was looking for a snuddie for Ds - preferably pizza but marvel would be fine too. Two lovely people on here have already offered to look for me though so I’m not sure if there was someone else looking for one too?

5Minions2CallMyOwn · 10/10/2021 19:16

@DoucheCanoe Hi! If guineapigs doesn’t need it can I please have it? I need to order something of £125 value for Ds and it would be so appreciated

guineapigs · 10/10/2021 19:17

@DoucheCanoe Yes that sounds good! Yes please!

DoucheCanoe · 10/10/2021 19:19

Of course 5minions, will let you know if @guineapigs passes :)

DoucheCanoe · 10/10/2021 19:23

PM'd you Guinea pigs :)

guineapigs · 10/10/2021 19:24

@DoucheCanoe Thank you very much!

5Minions2CallMyOwn · 10/10/2021 19:24

Thank you so much douchecanoe but I see it’s gone so no worries. If anyone else has a code I’d really appreciate it. Even for free delivery as I’m having a baby next month and not able to collect right now as dd has chicken pox and I’m housebound with her. Nightmare! Thanks I’m advance

DinosaurOfFire · 10/10/2021 19:28

@Maiyakat My daughter is 9 and a bit, and I would go for some of the Claires type makeup- they come in little mobile phone shapes etc, and are quite sweet, I think they look great for a pre-secondary school child. They do eyeshadows and also lipglosses.

toffeeshock · 10/10/2021 19:29

I think some play sets would be fine for an 8yo. Mine is that age and I wouldn’t get her proper make-up, only play sets with very sheer colours. I’ve been looking for one and saw a mermaid themed one I liked but the ingredients have talc in them and after looking into it I’m not happy to give her one containing that. Apparently lots of make-up has it, and there are articles mentioning it in relation to sets from Claire’s (I’m not sure if they still contain it because the website doesn’t list ingredients on the items I’ve looked at).

IggyAce · 10/10/2021 19:58

Claire’s sale is worth a look for stocking fillers loads have an extra 10% off. There are some lovely makeup brush sets for under £5. There is an instax key ring.

valentinoandme · 10/10/2021 20:06

@DockOTheBay

Does anyone have more info on the Morrisons BOGOF toy event which is predicted to start tomorrow? I can go to Morrisons tomorrow but its a bit of a trek if it doesn't actually go ahead tomorrow
I went past a Morrisons tonight and they had a banner up saying half price toys. There was definitely a big box of lego on the banner. Wonder if they're doing half price rather than bogof.
Restlessinthenorth · 10/10/2021 20:07

I'm after the stranger things lego set. It's an eye watering £180 everywhere that has it. If anyone comes across it at a lower price or on offer or anything, would you mind letting me know?

Carrie76 · 10/10/2021 20:16

My dd has started wearing glasses. I remember last year a number of people buying cleaning cloths with personalised pictures printed on them. Can anyone remember where they were from?

Raindancer411 · 10/10/2021 20:17

My 9 year old DS is getting a computer desk for Xmas, so he can play on the laptop and do his homework away from my 16 month old. I have added a new keyboard, mouse, chair, whiteboard and desk mat so far. Any other ideas on anything else to make his own home office lol

guineapigs · 10/10/2021 20:20

@Restlessinthenorth Wait until Lego has double points and good gift with purchase. They also have Black Friday reductions.

Room4onemore · 10/10/2021 20:22

Placemarking

Redwinestillfine · 10/10/2021 20:24

I just got my DD (10) some make up from the here she has eczema and this is guaranteed nasty free.

Changingagain · 10/10/2021 20:25

@MissMarple0203 we got a switch last year, just before our first lockdown here, for ds who was 4 at the time. Like you, I wasn't keen but dh thought it was a good idea. Surprisingly, dh was actually right Shock and it's been a big hit.
He's loved playing Lego City Undercover, Luigi's Mansion 3, Mario Odyssey, Pokemon Sword, Pokemon Snap, Lego DC Villians, and for a shirt time liked Animal Crossing. It took him maybe a few hours of game time to really get the hang of controlling it and since then he's been way better than me, and I considered myself a gamer until kids came along and free time disappeared!
Pokemon also really helped his reading as there's a lot of dialogue which is written out rather than spoken out loud.
