Standing in for @Reastie as thread 10 was filling up quickly...

To do click links you do this put link in here then a space then the name or phrase you want to go with the link . Don’t put a space between the start of the link or the last word next to the like I have or it won’t work but I had to to demonstrate.

Some top tips from thelegohooverer:

My tips are:
check out companies on trustpilot before ordering
be wary of companies that only have email/contact firms for customer services and no phone numbers or addresses (unless of course you enjoy meaningless replies from bots)
keep a list of what you’ve ordered so you can follow up if something doesn’t arrive. Sometimes it’s a numbers game where they’re betting on people not following up on missing orders.
check where things are shipped from, particularly if you need them quickly. I’ve got caught out waiting for the slow boat from China when I thought I was ordering locally.
I’ve started using Revolut to avoid putting in my main bank details (and it helps me budget)

Aliexpress have lots of stuff very cheap, order early as it’s all delivered from Chinahere. Be aware some items are a bit knock off in quality and safety, check reviews and be aware. Clothes can come up v small and take the photos with a pinch of salt as a guide for what you will receive.

user New Look have some lovely boxed hat and glove sets- also 25% off if you sign up to mails, I think. They also have some neutral scarves that may tone nicely.

DollyPartBaked · 09/10/2021 20:57

Did anyone find a decent hot chocolate (not Pendragon) for the velvetiser? Tempted by whittards but don't want to be missing a trick!

I'm going to go real life shopping next week I think before it starts getting busier!

Justhereforthechristmasthreads · 09/10/2021 20:58

@user1466167893

Hi all I am trying to track down a hat, scarf and gloves set that match, preferably with a pompom for a teen girl. The best I can come up with so far is Superdry but it's coming out as £67, with a 10% discount code SETH10. I've looked at all the other obvious places I can think of - any ideas?
@user1466167893

Studio have a few sets for £10/£12 www.studio.co.uk/shop/womens/womens-accessories/hats/SearchDisplay?searchTerm=scarf+set&storeId=10202&catalogId=10051&langId=-1&pageSize=20&sType=SimpleSearch&resultCatEntryType=2&showResultsPage=true&searchSource=Q&pageView=list&xTermType=term&orderBy=&beginIndex=0

Also try places like New Look and Matalan

Jedstre · 09/10/2021 21:05

My friend is taking me to Costco next week. Is there anything I should be looking out for while I’m there? It doesn’t even have to be Christmas related—any tip tips greatly appreciated I am going to get the double sided wrapping paper as I got that a few years ago and it’s fab.

cinders222 · 09/10/2021 21:06

I have a £10 OF £75 code for Argos

IHeartKingThistle · 09/10/2021 21:08

M&S have HP and golden snitch hat glove and scarf sets

IHeartKingThistle · 09/10/2021 21:11

Lol sorry, I was about the 3rd person to suggest that!

PoirotAndHisMoustache · 09/10/2021 21:17

@Jedstre snowglobe orange and gingerbread gin is about £13 in the warehouse (more on the website).
I always buy a case of Villa Maria white wine as cheaper than in supermarkets.
Sometimes they have amazing ladies pjs but don’t they they have them in at the minute (i have three sets Blush).
They have some nice gifts sets at the minute, if you are into this kind of thing (i.e. waffle making kit, pizza making kit…)
They have 2kg tins of roses for under £14
And these truffles are divine.
Oh, and the tiramisu kits.
There is probably more but all i can think of at the minute.

Christmasmcchristmasface we have a pull up bar in a doorway & an old wrap sling tied on as a swing - it works amazingly for my spinny kids (but they spin so fast I can't even watch) & also as a swing. They're also great at pull ups due to it being there Grin

Someone was asking about pillows for sleeping with - one of mine uses an IKEA shark like this (& there is a complicated system with the tail & his feet Confused)

greyinganddecaying · 09/10/2021 21:24

Thanks to you all I think I've finished shopping for the kids! No clue about what to get OH though - no real hobbies to tap into, apart from gaming (& he has pretty much anything associated with that!).

Any ideas?

Ricekrispie22 · 09/10/2021 21:24

@DollyPartBaked We use The Cosy Chocolate Company

guineapigs · 09/10/2021 21:25

@cinders222 Could I have it please? I would get some Lego for dd.

Clucket87 · 09/10/2021 21:26

I’m confused with who needs what codes, but I have 20% off £50 spend for Lakeland if anybody wants it. First come, first served.

Ricekrispie22 · 09/10/2021 21:28

@greyinganddecaying My DH wants this Lego typewriter!

Maranello · 09/10/2021 21:29

@user1466167893 Urban Outfitters is good for teens and they have a lot of hats, gloves and scarves, eg there's a Santa Cruz beanie (with pompom) and mittens set, plus a matching scarf sold separately. 10% for first purchases.

OneMorePieceofCheese · 09/10/2021 21:30
@NoWordForFluffy Apparently we are all shopping addicted time-wasters Grin
I misread that as "Shopping addicted wine tasters" and thought yes, that's fair. 😂

BestofLuck · 09/10/2021 21:31

I do like the look of the typewriter @Ricekrispie22. I personally would love the gingerbread house!

guineapigs · 09/10/2021 21:32

@greyinganddecaying I would say Lego too. There was so many themes to choose from: Star Wars, technic, Super mario, botanical that it is possible to find a set of your dh's interest

NoWordForFluffy · 09/10/2021 21:33

@Clucket87, yes please if you still have it!

Clucket87 · 09/10/2021 21:33

@greyinganddecaying Dh is getting Lego Star Wars helmet from ds. Dh is a Lego fan but doesn't buy Lego himself apart from very big millenium falcon.

GirlWithTheYellowHat · 09/10/2021 21:42

@psuedocream3 thanks so much for that skinnydip code! Instax bought for DD, I know it's probably a fad present but I'll maybe get a digital camera in a few years

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 09/10/2021 21:46

@Christmasmcchristmasface

Bilibo seats

If I remember Bilibo seats were talked about a few years ago.

They seem to for up to about 7/8 yo - I think they would be perfect for fidgety dyspraxic DS but he will be 12 in December- he’s quite small for his age but I’m thinking he would still be to big for the standard one.

Does anyone know of a version for older kids or some other deaf that would have the same twist and spin effect??

Have you tried the standard one? We have one, dd is 9 and can still use it. And we have them at the preschool i work at and us adults have had a go in them (I'm a size 12/14 so it's a squeeze for my bottom but can still twist and spin it!)

Or alternatively maybe a gaming type or computer chair to get that curl up swivvle. We used to have a leather spin chair and I loved the motion of moving and spinning (I'm a fidgetter!)
