We have approx 50 torches; I keep finding them everywhere!

It's a bit concerning. Which is an understatement.

TheWoollybacksWife · 26/11/2021 21:37

One Fererro tomte down. Seven more to go...

He's brilliant, Woolly!

ConstantlyCooking · 26/11/2021 22:25

Love the tomte! I have some Christmas tomte knitted and crocheted years ago by a friend's mother.

Hopefully the wind is dying down a touch now...there's a lull, I'm not sure if it will last! We have all of the windows shut, which is a rare event for us!

I'm glad DH took the trampoline down, it has to be said!

PussyCatEatingPigsInBlankets · 27/11/2021 00:09

I wonder where it would have ended up if he hadn't?🤔

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 27/11/2021 00:22

Over near Woolly and Why, I'd think! 🙈🤣

PussyCatEatingPigsInBlankets · 27/11/2021 00:29

Oh dear. I could have waved as it flew past!😂

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 27/11/2021 00:35

It could have waved at the poor sods who were meant to be flying home to Liverpool, but are now on their way home from Stansted! 😱

PussyCatEatingPigsInBlankets · 27/11/2021 01:11

That's true. I'm sure a few must have been coasting on fumes. Shock

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 27/11/2021 06:25

Hi folks, getting ready for work, I have not checked for any trampolines, trees or random shiz in the garden yet.

I love the tomte Woolly so cute.

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 27/11/2021 07:15

There were a few going round and round Manchester, apparently...they must've thought they were in Die Hard 2! 😱

I've not looked out of the window yet. Our Association Chairman is going to check out the damage at the allotment. He could see damage on the cameras. And one camera had blown down too!

I got more sleep than anticipated, so that's a positive.

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 27/11/2021 08:22

Well, the heating has been on for an hour, and it's still only 16.5° in the front room! 🥶 I'm going for broke and the heating is ON, not staying on timed!

I can't see much damage outside. A few things have blown over, including the recycling bin (DH thankfully tied its lid shut!) and some herbs. Can't see any evidence of roof damage, which is lucky.

WreckTangled · 27/11/2021 08:38

It's snowing here. Too wet to settle. Our Christmas tree has blown over, I meant to say to dh yesterday to put it in the shed.

We're going out for dinner tonight for ds' birthday and taking his friend, Brazilian bbq restaurant all you can eat meat, his favourite place. It's in a marina though so will be very cold and windy.

CrazyBaubles · 27/11/2021 09:20

I'm stressed. Lots of trains cancelled here but it's too early to know if mine is included in that. I really really need my train to run.

The wind is horrendous and some idiots left their recycling boxes out after they were emptied yesterday so they're blowing everywhere 😳

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 27/11/2021 10:17

Crazy it is Monday youre heading to that London or are you there now ?

I know DD got stuck yesterday because of the Tube Strike . I was relieved she came back as the travelling home (peak time) would've been a nightmare jouney . (She did the work online)

I bought a milk frother (too skinflinty to buy a Velvetiser) so I'm just washing the removeable parts then I'll try it out . It is suitable for hot chocolate , so DD might be the guinea-pig .

ConstantlyCooking · 27/11/2021 10:41

I bought my Christmas tree yesterday and it is in the garage out of the wind. I am planning to put it in a bucket of water so it is ready to go up next week.
I will get the Advent wreath down from the loft and am clearing the (fake) fireplace and mantle piece ready for Christmas candles tomorrow.
It's almost Advent!

CrazyBaubles · 27/11/2021 14:04

70 I'm on my way to that London now. My train was delayed by 90mins so my friends lovely husband offered to drive us to reading and we got a train from there.
We're coming home on Monday though.

Report back on the milk frother, I'm considering one because I'm also too tight to buy a velvetiser

Advent wreath Constantly? What is this?

We're almost in London now. It looks all grey and Baltic outside 🥶 I don't care though, I'm so excited to be here 😊

WreckTangled · 27/11/2021 15:14

It is Baltic crazy! The worse thing about London in the cold is that you then get really hot on the tube 🤢 we're going to London next weekend, just for a few hours though to see the lights.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 27/11/2021 15:40

I woke up this morning thinking Four weeks time it'll be Christmas Day Xmas Grin

My new gift bags arrived for the DC Dec 1st Hampers ( the old ones had been recycled so many years they were beyond shabby )

We need ( I say "we" , I mean DH) need to get the decorations out of the attic next week.
I have the Dec 1st shower curtain, loo roll and hand towels ready .
Need the Christmas oilcloth and the Advent Tree that is donkey's years old but still has pride of place
Now the Dec 1st Hampers are good to go .

Until then , it's just a load of cleaning to do .
I'm going for loads of lights ( LED /battery for safety ) and decide about the tree later .

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 27/11/2021 15:52

Crazy, have a brilliant time; I'm glad you found a way to get there! Xmas Grin

We have decorated the house this afternoon, including the two trees. 🎄🎄

I'm now watching The Grinch (Benedict Cumberbatch) on my own, as the children have abandoned me! 🙄🤣

Beautiful trees Fluffy

I'm struggling to get motivated to do our trees. Maybe through the week although DH has got a very busy midweek so definitely won't be in a position to get everything out of the garage and I can't lift two of the three trees as they are very heavy.

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 27/11/2021 17:02

I was a bit meh when I started. Soon got into it though alcohol helped!

DH is putting the stuff back in the attic after dinner. It's bastard cold up there! 🥶🥶🥶

CrazyBaubles · 27/11/2021 17:06

Thanks, we got here ok. We're now in a bar that's full of ping pong and pool tables so you can play while you drink 😂 Just waiting for friend to come back with the cocktails.

Lovely trees Fluffy 🎄🎄

I think my plan for decorations are to clean and hang up lights this week, then try and convince DH to get the trees next weekend. Then the following week I have a day off (can't remember when exactly) and I'll put the decs up while he's working and do it over a few days. Hopefully by 10th I'll be all done 👍🏻

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 27/11/2021 22:40

I've just been watching some of the Freddie Mercury tribures on TV ( as last Wednesday was the 30th anniversary of his death)
He was a unique artist with a once in a lifetime beautiful voice .

He had a Japanese inspired garden with Koi carp , I can imagine his cats saying Oh thanks Dad , better than telly as they drape themselves round the edge .

I should give my DS Freddie as a middle name ( I deliberately only gave them first names ) but I don;t think he'd go for it !
