At the end of the other thread someone said they had a wasp in their room. We've just painted our ramp blue because someone said that will ward off bees and wasps. So I figured I'd give it a try as they've been hanging around something fierce.

Autumn isn't sure it wants to be here yet. We keep getting cool and then it gets warm again.

I started doing Pysanky eggs about 5 months ago and I've been working on some of those for ornaments now for gifts. I entered two in the art contest and they are getting judged today!

I've got a few more Halloween type ones I want to do and then I'm into Christmas and Chanukkah colors! My friend has placed an order for 20 quail egg ornaments. So I'll probably start working on those soon.

The wasp flew out of the window in the end. It was quite skittish.

I just saw the Christmas ad for Very someone (fluffy?) mentioned. It's a bit early for that on tv I think.

Friday tomorrow. Half day woo hoo! Ds has sharing assembly, first one since Covid, should be good.

CrazyBaubles · 07/10/2021 21:45

puss I hope your magazine turns up soon.

WW the eggs are cool.
You're in America if I remember correctly? When do you think the temp will start to drop properly for you?

Wreck it was me mentioning the Christmas Very ad. Even I think it's early but I enjoyed watching DH get annoyed by it Xmas Grin

I'm just home from a meal out with DHs lovely grandparents. Feeling a little sentimental - he has no idea how lucky he is that they're still here and that they're so nice (I have no grandparents left and the ones I did have weren't as lovely as his and definitely didn't like or care about me as much as his do about him).
His GM used to be a big crafter and was talking today about how sad she is that she can't do a lot of the things she used to and how she liked having handmade things to look at so I'm extra glad I'm doing her a cross stitch card for Christmas.

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 07/10/2021 21:54

I have booked my covid booster jab today, can have it at my Dr's this time which is good. I have booked it when I have a couple of days off afterwards as well bearing in mind how poorly I have been after the other two.

WheelchairWoes · 07/10/2021 22:36

wreck I'm so glad the wasp left you alone. We've got really mean ones here and if they get in the house we all kind of melt down lol.

YAY for a half day tomorrow!

crazy We've got another week where the temps will fight to be between 60-80 (15-26 C) in the day and 50-66 (10-18 C) at night. And then we'll settle at about 60-73 (15-22 C) for a good while and our trees will turn bright.

I'm glad you get to spend time with DH's grandparents. I'm sorry yours are gone though. I only have a grandma (with dementia) and a grandfather still here and both are not doing the best. So I'm worried. I hope we'll get one more holiday with them.

We went to the park today as I got word my daughter's memorial brick was replaced with a new one and a new design so we went out to look at it and visit the angel and then got rained out and came home.

why I'm glad you are getting a booster! I hope it doesn't make you feel too poorly. I keep waiting to see if I'll need one. I ended up getting the moderna shots (Spikevax I guess it's officially called now?) and since it's been doing well against the Delta there's no information on if we'll need a booster yet or not.

Crazy that's so nice. All my grandparents are still alive. I'm so lucky.

Why I didn't have any effects from my booster, woke with a headache the next day but I often do so who knows.

NoWordForFluffy · 08/10/2021 07:52

Morning!

It's meant to be lovely here today. ☀️ Hopefully it'll mean that a load more of my chillies ripen. I need the Scotch Bonnets to ripen so I can make some chilli jam with one! I don't think I'll need more than one amongst the other chillies, especially as some of them seem quite warm on their own! 🤣

We've not had any grandparents for 9 years. Gran died in Feb 2012 (on 29th, which was typical gran!), and she was the last one. Other than nan, who was 73, they were all in their 80s when they died, so good ages.

WreckTangled · 08/10/2021 08:10

My granny (great nan) made it to 100. That was about 7/8 years ago. My grandad just turned 85 and I'm sure he's got absolutely years left.

NoWordForFluffy · 08/10/2021 08:34

Our great uncle hated getting into his late 90s, as his retirement financial planning hadn't taken a very long life into account! 🤣 He often said that he hadn't planned or wanted to live that long.

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 08/10/2021 08:38

I'm not sure I would want to either. Especially if I was on my own.

NoWordForFluffy · 08/10/2021 09:01

No, I don't think it is ideal. I don't know how our great aunt feels about getting old while being alone. She's been alone a fair while now too. Especially hard during a pandemic.

TheWoollybacksWife · 08/10/2021 09:12

I lost my last grandparent 20 years ago - the others had all died before I was born. My grandma was in her late 90's and her sisters lived to similar ages.

Interesting point about financial planning for very old age Fluffy. A 30 year retirement without a substantial pension income would be very difficult.

WreckTangled · 08/10/2021 11:07

Managed to find some petrol but it was £1.43/l Angry

CrazyBaubles · 08/10/2021 11:07

I lost my first grandparent when I was 17 and last when I was 31. None of them reached 80.
They were all very much of the approach that you should visit them but they didn't need to make any effort (or be particularly nice to you in some of their cases) so while I loved them, they definitely didn't care in the same way DHs gp's do. I just wanted to make sure he understands how lucky he is (they are mid 80s).

I'm working on some boring stuff today and am contemplating some Merry music to keep me company...

NerosFiddle · 08/10/2021 11:10

My maternal gf died the day my Dm found out she was pregnant with me. Her dm died when she was 16. Both Paternal gp are still going strong. Dgf will be 93 next week and dgm is 87.

On a brighter note, we should do a live stream of Christmas films some night. Have a drinking game with it.

NoWordForFluffy · 08/10/2021 11:34

Now that's a bloody brilliant idea, Neros! 🎅🏻🎄

Every time Bruce takes a piece of clothing off...

Every time Kevin screams...

We'd be pished!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 08/10/2021 13:49

I don't drink alcohol but I could scoff an After Eight in the Drinking Game ....

I went to Costco with DS , had a very quick look at the Christmas stock , some lovely paper , gift bags , ribbons .
A lit up sleigh that was huge
Gorgeous little resin figure Nativity scene .

I love this time of year , Autumn , the leaves on the vine in my garden have gone red .
Hallowe'en to look forward to .
Bonfire Night
And of course DH birthday Xmas Grin

NerosFiddle · 08/10/2021 20:48

Which film should we do?

I'll also be eating after eights with it 😂

NoWordForFluffy · 08/10/2021 20:55

Should we draw a film out of a hat?!

Anything except "Bad Santa"

NoWordForFluffy · 08/10/2021 22:30

Puss, did you get your magazine yet?

I'm being trolled by Home Style. Ordered the Christmas edition online which came out about 2 weeks ago. Finally got a magazine today...Your Home, Nov '21 edition. Ummmm, nope! I rang up and they asked for it back. Hopefully I'll get what I actually ordered soon!

Morning!

I was woken up by a very loud motorbike going along the Coast Road just after 7am. I'm pretty sure it wasn't travelling at the speed limit, hence hearing it (we're about a mile as the crow flies).

Hairspray, I suffered really badly with pregnancy insomnia. I've walked in your - exhausted - shoes! 😴

Morning. I was woken up at 5:30 by ds coming in to get my phone to use as a torch Hmm

Food shopping being delivered today and I have uni work to do. Ds has homework as does dd. I have a weeks worth of washing to fold and put away too 🤯 DH is going to work.

It's really foggy here this morning but meant to brighten up.
