Tip toes in with a quick wave, I'm crap at staying on the thread, although I haven't been on here much at all to be honest.

I have a football shirt arriving tomorrow, it was one I had given up on getting as it was out of stock since the day it came out, but the store had some in stock!!

Ds2 is struggling with the amount of work he's got, he has his GCSE's in the summer, so he's a bit down, he's leaving school and I think he's ready to go now Grin

Hope you are all ok x

HeyupitsChristmas · 22/11/2021 20:21

aww you're all so lovely it's making me 😥.

DH and I both had negative PCR from yesterday and negative LFT earlier on today, not that it's reassuring me to be honest. I've had a limpet child clung to me all day.

It sounds daft, but this is only the second time she's ever been poorly (standard colds aside). She had chicken pox as a baby, but she actually breezed through it.

Thankfully work are being marvellous and have said just do what you can, when you can, but feel very flat and miserable.

(GP is ringing me tomorrow about HRT and all of a sudden I feel old)

Morning!

How are you doing, Heyup? I know what you mean about rarely-ill kids, as ours don't get much / anything. Certainly nothing beyond a mild sniffle. They had a couple of illnesses as toddlers, but barely anything since (they've only had one sickness bug between them, for instance), other than chicken pox about 3 years ago.

At least your work is supportive. That's good news.

I need to contact my GP about HRT. It's getting round to it though. I might message through Patient Access and see if I can book a consultation that way.

I've just booked a Sainsbury's slot for 20 Dec, which I'll move to 21 either at midnight or tomorrow first thing. I'm picking up most of the fresh stuff, so won't need too much Christmas stuff, which means I won't need a closer slot, just our usual one with a few bits added. I have loads of stuff already too.

I was a very sickly child. I had loads of chest infections and caught everything going (scarlet fever, anyone?) Shock It's amazing I've lasted this long. 😂
Good luck with the HRT. I won't go down that path (My mum had breast cancer) so when all my bones crumble to dust you can say "told you" 🤦‍♀️

ConstantlyCooking · 23/11/2021 08:43

Good morning! Good news about the pcrs Heyup! If you DH is around can you go for a walk just to get out of the house for 20 mins and have some mental space?
How old is your DD - would she enjoy a duvet on the sofa and nice films?
I love the idea of Ferrero Rocher hats woolly.
I felt old when I was asked the last time I 'had had a fall'! I was having a bone density scan because of a childhood illness and as part of the HRT conversation!

CrazyBaubles · 23/11/2021 11:09

Woolly I second the gonks as your Fererro Rocher covers.

I don't know much about HRT except that my mum is on it and it pretty much saved her sanity (but she had a hysterectomy at 48 which threw her into menopause and the mood swings while they sorted that were scary which is a different situation to here).

HeyUp I hope you've managed some sleep and are feeling a little better.
Can you tag team with DH so you both get a little bit of time to do something for yourselves, even if it's as simple as a walk, a bath or just lying on the bed scrolling online?

DH has picked up the lurgy I had last week so he's now sneezing and sniffing. I'm back in the spare room in the hope it doesn't come back to me because I'm meant to be in London this weekend 🤞🏼

WreckTangled · 23/11/2021 11:16

Tube strike this weekend crazy but I think only until Saturday morning?

CrazyBaubles · 23/11/2021 11:20

Ah no, I hope you're right because we get there Saturday lunchtime and leave on Monday - we have the HP play on Sunday and train tickets booked so can't cancel!

WreckTangled · 23/11/2021 11:22

Are you seeing both shows in one day?

CrazyBaubles · 23/11/2021 14:01

Yes, both on Sunday. I'm so excited - it's been booked for almost 2 years because of Covid!

HeyupitsChristmas · 23/11/2021 14:06

Hi,

Feeling better today, DD still curled up on the sofa (bless her x)

Spoke to the Dr about HRT - I have to have a coil fitted, and she's mentioned transdermal patches. I have to say I was expecting a more lengthy discussion but it was very much "of course, not a problem, this is what we can offer"

I am going to Tesco later to collect the weekly shop, so that will be a break! And I'm going to have a soak in the bath later too.

Still negative on the LFT'S, long may it continue!

WreckTangled · 23/11/2021 14:10

Why do you have to have a coil? (Sorry I don't know anything about these things so just wondering!)

Crazy I'm so jealous I really enjoyed it. Make sure you plan where you're eating between showings, I thought I'd just use my phone to find somewhere when we went but London was so busy that mobile data wasn't working and it was really stressful!

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 23/11/2021 17:54

That's very exciting, Crazy!

Heyup, I've heard about the coil being good for peri symptoms. I've also heard it can be painful to insert. So I decided against it. NICE guidelines do say 45+ with wonky periods should be given HRT if requested, so that's the line I'm going to use.

TheWoollybacksWife · 23/11/2021 18:06

My surgery wouldn't prescribe HRT without me having a coil Fluffy but that was apparently due to a family history of endometrial cancer. As it happened my peri was reasonable - insomnia was the worst of it. No hot flushes and my mood was actually more settled than with the PMT I had when I was younger. I'm through the other side now - like puss I suspect my bones are screwed though thanks to a family history of osteoporosis and not much dairy in my diet

HeyupitsChristmas · 23/11/2021 18:20

Wreck I have to have a coil because I'm still having periods. GP said that I was still at risk of pregnancy so it is probably for the best (she has recommended the Mirena coil because it contains progesterone) The patches are estrogen and I have to wait for the coil to inserted before I start those

Santa I'll be honest I'm not looking forward to it - I've heard the same 😖 But having a baby at 48 would not be ideal so I'll grit my teeth and sink a big gin just before I let them furtle around in my nether region.

Woolly the insomnia is the killer for me along with the mood swings - I can get super snappy, then the next minute I'm sunshine and flowers.

If any of you didn't catch the Davina documentary on the menopause it's really worth a watch.

WreckTangled · 23/11/2021 18:20

I found the coil fitting quite painful but everyone is different. I then got pregnant with ds so had to have it taken out Grin

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 23/11/2021 18:23

It's the rage (which appears without warning) and the forgetting simple bloody words which are the worst symptoms for me. I forget basic legal words which I really shouldn't forget; it gets embarrassing with clients sometimes. 🙄

Oh I know!

My Team Leader and I are dreadful with forgetting words (and brain fog and privately rolling our eyes at silly comments...)

Rather worrying, I bought DH some aftershave for Christmas. I cannot for the life of me remember where I've put it.

CrazyBaubles · 23/11/2021 19:20

I had a coil fitted after being warned it can be extra painful if you haven't had children.
Having it put in was fine(ish) - a friend prewarned me so I took codeine before I went in.
The first few days were painful - tmi but I had severe cramps, almost ljke my body was trying to eject it Blush. But on the plus side, once that was done, I never had an issue with it and there was no pain at all when taking it out.

Thanks for the tip about lunch Wreck, I'll arrange something.

I feel like today passed me by in a blur. Not sure what happened, work was fine and after it I walked ddog, put tea on then did a dusted the whole downstairs, cleaned 2 bathrooms and did some washing but it seems to have taken ages.
I'm just sat down now so going to continue my search for Christmas lights for my windows (I have a stupid amount of tabs open because I can't decide what I want or how much to spend) Xmas Grin

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 23/11/2021 22:08

I think I'm about 7 years into the menopause , I've never fancied HRT < Not concerned about the risks or side effects but I just thought I'll rough it through.

YY to the brain fog/forgeting words though Xmas Blush

I'm hoping to power through my shopping list tomorrow and get most of them bought .
I'm going to be brave and go into Urban Outfitters without a teenager . I'll look completely out of my depth like I've taken the wrong turn out of Waterstones , rather than being dragged in by my lovely daughter to buy her Nice Things for her teeny frame .
Then Lush ... I might never be seen again Xmas Shock

Morning!

It's still really cold here...getting out of bed is challenging. 🥶🥶🥶

I ordered cheese from the local cheese shop last night, to pick up on Christmas Eve. I also moved my Sainsbury's delivery to 21 Dec, at midnight! So that's two things knocked off my list. Xmas Smile

Heyup, how's it going down your way?

After watching Davina's menopause programme, I'm determined to get HRT to reduce my risk of Alzheimer's later on. I hadn't known about that link before.

WreckTangled · 24/11/2021 07:55

There's some interesting studies on menopausal women taking creatine that might be worth looking in to. I think it's something everyone should take regardless of exercise due to the cognitive benefits.

CrazyBaubles · 24/11/2021 11:24

How are you getting on with your shopping list 70?

Wreck I'd never heard of creatine as a something to take before, just something that sort of exists in the body. Very interesting...

I'm just waiting to pick my niece up from nursery. It's bloody Baltic out here 🥶

I'm considering ordering these lights - the curtain for our living room and the stars for the conservatory although they're that long they may go all the way around rather than just do the windows!

HeyupitsChristmas · 24/11/2021 12:00

Hi all.

Better day here today. DD has got dressed (albeit in a long sleeved t-shirt and leggings - essentially pyjamas 😆)

It's bitter cold here too, but it is November as I keep reminding myself. Our local weather chap has mentioned snow, it would just be our luck for it to snow while DD is on house arrest (fairly sure she could go in the garden for a bit though without breaking the rules)

We have a brand new Sainsburys opened nearby, and as we live in a town dominated by Tesco, I'm itching to go and have a wander. I don't actually need anything, but y'know...I might spot something fabulous!
