What foods and drinks make your Christmas?

For me it's Quality Street (even though they taste rubbish compared to when I was little) and fried potato sandwiches for breakfast. The smell of the quality street tin or tub is one of my favourite smells and they smell the same even if they don't taste the same. There's other things too but those two are the main ones for me.

Homemade mince pies and champagne while opening presents around the tree Christmas morning.

Pickled red cabbage, peppermint bark, mince pies.

Christmas cake, matchmakers, Terry’s chocolate orange, once a year sprouts. Bubble and squeak with the leftovers.

Roast pork and sausage meat stuffing sandwiches on Christmas Eve. Waffles and maple syrup for breakfast on Christmas day. The sausage meat stuffing , bacon wrapped meat loaf that I make is amazing and distinctly festive. Home made sausage rolls spiced with mine meat and clementines and cranberries.

I bloody love Christmas.

Every year I make a stollen stuffed with more marzipan than is advised or sensible. Not for everyone but even the scent of it is pure Christmas for me.

Christmas cake served with a chunk of vintage Cheddar. It really works.
Mulled wine and mince pies.

Pigs in Blankets with bread sauce for dipping, Bucks Fizz, and a Baileys

Mulled wine, mince pies and the Post Christmas Sandwich (starts Boxing Day and continues as long as there are leftovers, but generally contains both turkey and great slices of ham, potentially left over roast potatoes, stuffing, bread sauce and either cranberry sauce or pickled red cabbage. I have gone a bit Ross Gellar about my sandwiches in the past )

I'm allergic to dried fruit so the mince pie Christmas cake passes me by they always smell lovely though.

And the last one is really blooming odd, I fully admit but it was what we had for Christmas breakfast when I was little. I loved it then and I still love it now:

(Nowadays people have croissants all the time but when I was little they were just for Christmas morning )

pork and chestnut stuffing, sherry trifle, cranberry and port sauce. We eat quite frugally at Christmas (left over angst from Live Aid)
