For me it's Quality Street (even though they taste rubbish compared to when I was little) and fried potato sandwiches for breakfast. The smell of the quality street tin or tub is one of my favourite smells and they smell the same even if they don't taste the same. There's other things too but those two are the main ones for me.

Oh and Delia's ham. I'm veggie nowadays but can still remember how it tastes. We bake it on the 23rd and it lasts us for several days in various dishes and cold with crackers, pickles, crudités etc.

Palavah · 20/09/2021 16:16

Turkey, bread sauce, pigs in blankets, stuffing
Christmas pudding
Cheese and port
Bubble and squeak
Turkey and chips
Turkey sandwiches
Christmas cake with cheddar

TooBigForMyBoots · 20/09/2021 16:17

My Christmas ham cooked in cider. I cook 3 or 4 to be collected on Christmas Eve and the house smells of orange and spices. Yum.

MummyJ12 · 20/09/2021 16:41

Ooh yes! I forgot about the Christmas ham!!
I cook mine in Guinness, cloves and brown sugar. The smell of it cooking is the smell of Christmas to me 💗

rathernotshare · 20/09/2021 16:42

Brie and cranberry paninis, although I eat them all year 😁 also cheesey footballs are the sign that Christmas has arrived. My mum always had us write a Christmas food shop list of things we only got once a year, so stuff like Pringles, doritos and peanuts always feel festive to me

TheDuchessOfMN · 20/09/2021 16:44

Mil’s ham
Baileys

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 20/09/2021 16:46

Stollen, Panettone, Christmas cake and Christmas pudding. Plus Baileys which I only buy at Christmas as once a bottle is opened, I can't resist it. The excuse to have crisps and peanuts, which I try to avoid the rest of the year for the same reason as Baileys.

StevieNix · 20/09/2021 16:51

Buck’s Fizz first thing in the morning,
Cold meats (Salami, Parma ham etc)
Pot of Stilton and nice crackers,
Pate and french baguette on Boxing Day

Friend potato sandwich? You mean a chip butty?

For me it's chestnut stuffing, pork pie and piccalilli, walnut whips and stollen (although can no longer eat it).

Harlequin1088 · 20/09/2021 17:24

My homemade mince pies, affectionately known in my family as "bullets" due to their diminutive size and texture. I'm so crap at making them but everyone kicks up a stink if they don't get their annual gift of my terrible mince pies so I continue to make them lol 😂

Roussette · 20/09/2021 17:26

Sicilian cocktail

It means my adult DCs are home.

Aperol, Gin, Elderflower, shaken in cocktail shaker, poured into huge martini glasses, topped up with prosecco Grin

Beeinalily · 20/09/2021 17:30

@FlatteredFool and I hope that you peer at the tv through the Quality Street wrappers to make it colour - well, different colours! Ours is (are?) Babybels. I don't really know why!

BikeRunSki · 20/09/2021 17:32

Loaded nachos on Christmas Eve
Stollen

ShellyLou1234 · 20/09/2021 17:40

Snowballs, Ham cooked in cola and chocolate oranges 🍊😋

JasonMomoasgirlfriend · 20/09/2021 17:54

Paté, stilton, trifle, Xmas cake, stollen, mulled wine, champagne, prawn cocktail, cranberry and brie filo parcels warm and gooey!

MilduraS · 20/09/2021 18:00

Home made potato croquettes. We make loads on Christmas Eve, eat them for dinner then have one each with actual Christmas dinner.

ArblemarchTFruitbat · 20/09/2021 18:03

My home-made bread sauce. I never make it at any other time of the year.

It wouldn't be Christmas morning if it didn't start with me sticking cloves into half an onion!
