Thanks everyone I will keep an eye out for special offers on the maxi micro scooter :-)

Waveafterwaveslowlydrifting · 18/09/2021 14:24

Just went to TKMaxx and there are good discounts on fitness items. I got a decent skipping rope, set of resistance bands and pair of weights gloves for a total of £13. They will look good with the cooling towels in a fitness hamper!

For those looking at Micro Scooters or good quality children's bikes and find the outlay expensive... I highly recommend a The Bike Club Its a subscription service that you pay monthly for. As your child out grows out of their bike/scooter you can upgrade to a larger one or own it outright. I currently pay £4 per month for a micro scooter and £12ish for a frog bike. We will probably upgrade her bike next year but the scooter will last years still so will own it outright after two years.

I've linked my affiliate link so I get £20 credit if you order through the link so I'll pop it on the referral thread too.

Can anybody recommend any advent calendars? I need 2 for teen girls, a 10 year old girl and 8 year old boy. Thank you

I went to B&M earlier and they had plenty of stockings and sacks with the initials on. I didn't actually get any as DS already has one with his name on. I felt very unmumsnetty!

@WisestIsShe we have had these shower steamers and they are good. In fact I haven't had a duff product from here. Small business too.

@gaggiagirl I don't know about neom candles in particular, but candles where you use the melted wax as body oil for....erm, massage are definately a thing. If you're interested just search 'sex candle' on Amazon Blush

mogtheexcellent · 18/09/2021 15:54

I bought DDs maxi micro second hand and replaced the rubber handles and footplate with a customising kit from micro scooters website.

Whole lot cost about 60 quid and looked like new.

msssm · 18/09/2021 16:07

@gaggiagirl

You can't use the wax from any Neom candle but there are specific ones that are just for that. Haven't tried but they are on my wish list, I love neom products.

CamdenLurker · 18/09/2021 16:30

@gaggiagirl

Someone mentioned neom candles up thread. I believe there will be a QVC offer in October if last year is anything to go by. Can I ask neom fans, I don't know where I've heard this but is it true you can use the melted neom wax as a body oil? Sounds a bit mad now I've written it but I'm sure I heard that you could.
You'll need the Neom intensive skin treatment candle if you want to use it for massage, I can really recommend them.

No help for right now but just opened my buns package from last week... TWO boxes of buns for £3.08!! It did say "pack of 2" when I ordered but I assumed it was a typo! Happy days!

@Thisisbatshit

Those wondering about advent calanders- we have loads of things we only get out at Christmas- a HUGE stack of books, Dvds, Lanka kade figures, playmobil, felt Christmas tree etc.

Last year (which I knew was going to be tough) I gathered a huge stack of old gift bags and filled one a day with things. I added something new for each day so this year so far I have hot chocolate stirrers, last year fancy marshmallows, biscuits, craft kits etc. The children loved it. In previous years I've just kept it all in a big box and thrown some things each day into a gift bag which was good too, but they were excited seeing it all piled in advance.

Spreads the excitement a little (a new story or book.a day rather than just dumping the whole pile at once) and costs very little as it is a collection we have added to over the years. Our eldest is 8.

The kids stockings are filled with lots of the same items every year. The first Couple of yearS they never Even noticed- now they get excited over who will get specific items. They’re mostly little Christmas theme pocket money toys like yo-yos and little wooden puzzles. They Usually get played with for a couple of days, then I gather them up without anyone noticing and hide away till the following year.
